JHU BME MSE 1 Year vs 2 Year

Hi everyone! Recently I’ve been debating on whether I should squeeze my course load into 1 year OR have longer time to be affiliated with JHU on the thesis track. The pro for 2 year: I can lower a substantial amount of cost on tuition(since I heard bme department don’t subsidize 2nd year tuition anymore); the con: I don’t get as much time to potentially produce first author publications, a lacking component for my goal as PhD.

I’m also curious on whether it’s doable to graduate within 1 year then continue to work as RA in the lab before applying for PhD. Does that put the candidate in any disadvantage?

Thanks for any advice and help!

ProbStats for Life Sciences or Intermediate ProbStats - incoming molcell major

Hello, I'm an incoming molcell bio major debating between Probability and Statistics for Life Sciences and Intermediate Probability and Statistics.

I'm done with the calc requirements for the molcell major, so I'm taking a semester of statistics to fulfill pre-med requirements. I received a 5 on AP Statistics, but that was 2 years ago.

ProbStats for Life Sciences seems easier, since I don't have Calc III knowledge. But Intermediate ProbStats works much better with my schedule. Would I be OK going into it without taking Calc III? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Research Opportunities

Hello, I have been trying to get into a research lab for months now and I haven’t really made any progress. I either get no reply, are told there’s no open spots, or are told they went with someone more qualified. I’ve been cold emailing for so long and I don’t really know what to do anymore. I’m interested in dentistry, but I don’t really know atm how that would apply to research. I’m honestly open to any form of biology research so I wanted to ask if anyone knows of any labs looking for undergrads or that might be open to taking in any undergrad students. Literally any opportunity or advice would be helpful so please don’t hesitate to share. Thanks!
