LAST UPDATED: Feb 2025
This is going to be the new pinned post here on r/jediknight since the old one was made by a moderator that deleted their account, making it unchangeable. Since it was pretty outdated, I'm going to instead link to the JKHub page that lists nearly all of the relevant links the old post did, plus new ones and an entire guide written out and a video explaining the basics on the state of the game right now.
Please comment here if I'm missing something you feel is important that should be linked and/or explained on that page.

I'm listening to the audio drama of Dark forces and really enjoying it.
At one point at the Academy, Kyle mentions that he lives with his dad on a farm, and contrasting other imperial friends- his dad doesn't like to see people get hurt. Some peers jeer at the idea but he defends his dad. I love the moral grayness that his dad made a sacrifice to send kyle to the academy because its the only option for an 'education'.
Anyways- I was wondering if at any point in the games or Novellas Kyle mentions to his father about becoming a mercenary? Does his father dissapprove? I thought he would dissapprove *but might understand that Kyle did the next similar thing to bieng a stormtrooper- transfering applicable job skills to Merc skills. He might not understand or approve his choice... but understand why he felt he had to do it.
Or maybe underneath all the charm and humor... Kyle is still an angry person for bieng indoctrinated by the Empire-- used to believe 'rebels' killed his father... bieng told to dehumanize rebels as 'rats' etc... but also bieng a realist and seeing Mon Mothma as a morally dubious figure too for needing to make choices like telling Jan to shoot kyle if he turns out to be a traitor- so he wants to hover in the middle of 'blue collar' work for anyone that pays, lol?
I'm curious if other people agree with this?

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II is a 1997 first-person shooter video game developed and published by LucasArts for Windows. It is the sequel to 1995's Star Wars: Dark Forces and the second installment in the Star Wars: Jedi Knight series. The story, set in the Star Wars expanded universe one year after the film Return of the Jedi, follows returning protagonist Kyle Katarn, a mercenary working for the New Republic, who discovers his connection to the Force and "The Valley of the Jedi", an ancient source of power. With his father having been murdered years prior by the Dark Jedi Jerec and his followers over the Valley's location, Katarn embarks on a quest to confront his father's killers and find the Valley before they do. Jedi Knight made some technical and gameplay improvements over its predecessor.
It uses a more powerful game engine, the Sith engine, which supports 3D acceleration using Direct3D 5.0. The story features branching paths and cutscenes recorded with live actors as full motion videos. The game introduces the lightsaber and the Force as prominent gameplay elements in the series, as well as a multiplayer mode that allows players to compete over the internet or a local area network.
This version is distributed on a DVD that includes the original game (which was on two discs) with an installer that gives the option to install the game in Spanish, English and German.

I've been going through the campaign a few times, initially out of nostalgia and then later to test some mod ideas, and have been wondering if/when anybody ever takes trip mines or det packs?
I feel like all the long arms have reasons why you might pick them:
But my decision tree for the explosives is just...thermals are better lol. I might want to throw a detonator around a corner or off of a ledge, but I don't really find myself needing an explosive that I have to bait enemies onto.
Am I missing something where you'd ever want trip mines or det packs in the campaign?

Code modded tonight a passive dialogue speaking system. Sounds derive from player model NPC data. Now we have most immersive Rosh experience never seen before. This is the future.

Hey all,
I’m looking to see if I can find any of the old clan members of Immortal Jedi clan. We used to play JKA and did a ton of grip fighting. Leader was Masta X and had other folks named BlueKnight and Myth. Had a lot of great memories with that group and looking for help in finding them.

Had so much fun with the game and loved my custom Twi'Lek so much I made a custom figure of her. I also made a display base and gave her a speeder bike.
You can check out a quick 1min highlight video of her gameplay here: https://www.reddit.com/r/JediAcademy/s/ZDk6A2iH2E
Shoutout to Kahzmat for the original player model mod

I played multiplayer a bit when I was a kid but decided to finally check out the single player campaign. I loved it so much I immediately started a new game... and then another... and another lol
I also loved my Jaden so much I made a custom figure based on her that came out pretty sweet. You can check it out here: https://www.reddit.com/r/customactionfigures/s/Cynf5lcvlT
Big shout out to the Jedi Academy Enhanced team for all the modern fixes and new features. I built my character around the lightsaber+blaster stance.
Also props to Kahzmat for their awesome Twi'Lek model.

Really curious, has anyone ever managed to get the AT-ST past the section where you're supposed to be forced out of it by the drop pod?

I've made a new app with JA and JO and Dark Forces. I made the original JA-Touch and JO-Touch games from years ago (Beloko)
http://opentouchgaming.com/psi-touch/
Updated with all the latest mod-cons from the other apps and works on modern Android now.
Base on OpenJK and The Force Engine.
Initial release so let me know if you find any bugs.
Hoping to add Dark Forces 2 (OpenJKDF2) soon(ish)

Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask this question, but I was wondering if anyone has found a way to force specific cosmetic stances on character models in the movie duels mod? Some of the preset characters added by the mod have a cosmetic reverse grip style, and I was wondering if there's any way to add that stance to another character model, like your own custom JKA character. It's obviously not important, but I am curious if it is possible.

Hey there Im browsing through jk3 modding pages for a map I played decades ago. It was somewhat of a asian stylish village, there was a mountain with a house atop and it very well blended into samurai role play. Darker color theme. Used a samurai skin with a katana for fun with it. Anyone know maybe if that map still exists? Cant find it so far. regards
