Does anyone know if Sainsbury's do browsing time on Sundays?

I've tried Google but it just says some stores open from 9.30am to browse but I can't see anything to confirm if the Newport one does. Failing that does anyone know if Morrisons or Asda do browsing time on a Sunday?

Have you been to a Major UK Festival recently? I’d really like to speak to you!

Hi All,

I’m a festival lover working on a research project for my master’s degree, and I’m looking to talk to people who have attended festivals like Download, Isle of Wight, Kendal Calling, Wilderness, Boomtown, Creamfields or Reading/Leeds in the past 12 months. I’m exploring how festival environments shape the way people notice or interpret brand promotion including things like nicotine products. I’m not looking for any specific opinion or experience, and you don’t need to have used nicotine products. I’m just trying to understand what the festival perspective of people who were actually there (and save myself the price of a ticket to each)! Interviews are online, between 30-60 minutes, completely voluntary and fully anonymous. If you’re interested, I will send out the info sheet/answer questions before you decide to take part 😊 Really appreciate anyone who’s willing to take part and you’ll receive a gift card as a thank you!

Yaverland bach engine block

I saw someone post of FB, a photo of some rusty engine block on the beach and wondered if anyone here knows roughly where it is and what state of tide it's viewable. I thought it might make an interesting photo...

Isle of Wight Hols: I've been taking my art pad with me on holiday for the past few years. It's jolly good practice, jolly relaxing, and jolly cheaper than buying postcards! 😎

Had a really lovely amble the other day from Ventnor to Bonchurch, ending up at Bonchurch Pond. It was warm but there was a gorgeous soft breeze along the revetment, and I hadn't seen Bonchurch Pond for years, it was so lovely, cool and peaceful. So lucky to live here.

Red Funnel - Gift shop price - Oddly specific query

Hello everyone. For those of you who regularly use the ferry, could anyone please tell me the price of the teddy bear dressed as a boat captain that is sold on board?

I'm trying to budget for an upcoming trip and thought it would make a lovely gift for a young relative.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Looking for an old photo of "PlayBox" penny arcade on Ryde Esplanade (90s/00s)

Hi everyone,

I am trying to track down a photo of the old PlayBox penny arcade that used to be on Ryde Esplanade.

It is for a little thing I am putting together as a surprise for my Mum's 70th, but the arcade is long gone and I have had no luck hunting through old Google Street View archives.

If anyone has any old family holiday photos taken along the seafront where the shop frontage happens to be visible in the background, I would be incredibly grateful if you could share a scan or a snap of it. Seeing that place again would bring back some massive nostalgia hits for us.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Relocation advice!

Hi there! My partner and I are planning to buy a house and move over to the island next year. We would like some advice please from people who have done this too!

We both work in a big supermarket chain, so we would hopefully be able to transfer jobs, if there are vacancies available. We are just both wondering how do people make the move? Luckily we do have friends we could stay with over there for a short time.

Do you find a house first, buy it then look for jobs whilst still in your old jobs and move over one at a time when weve each found a job? Or both find jobs first, stay with friends on the island and then look for a house once we have jobs? But that could mean staying with friends for a long time which we would like to avoid if possible.

Ideally we don't want to move over at separate times from eachother but we realise that may have to happen.

We would be so grateful for any advice as we both don't really have an idea how to do this!! Thankyou!

Edit; currently live with parents in West Sussex

I've just been touching up the Middle Earth style fantasy map of the Isle of Wight I made a while ago. Thanks again to all those who contributed back then!

As if this was four years ago now. It's still one of my favourite maps so far (island maps always look cool depicted like this).

I've just been doing some tidying up jobs on it and making some of the text more legible. Again, thanks to all the commenters who suggested ideas and really helped bring this to life. I've just had a fresh batch made up here for anyone interested in one.

Best men’s barber in Newport.

Hi everyone,
I recently moved to the island and I’m looking for recommendations for a really good men’s barber in Newport (or nearby).

I’ve tried a few Turkish barbers at the town since moving here, but unfortunately they haven’t really suited me. The cuts have been a bit rushed and they’ve ended up messing up my hairstyle, so I’m looking for someone who takes their time and is good with modern men’s cuts.

Any recommendations would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance! 😊
