After 3 years of work, Themify 2 is finally ready! This theme goes above and beyond anything that has been done so far with Rockbox's theme engine, all towards the goal of building the best user-customisable theme possible.
There's a bunch of new tech, the UI for example is drawn exclusively using vector graphics (hacked together with the font system) allowing everything to be re-coloured while also anti-aliased. There's also the first custom quickscreen in a theme, automatic song title splitting over two lines and an entirely custom menu engine with rounded corners, fancy scrollbars and even more kinds of menu icons than before.
The main star of the show though is the vast amount of customisation options. Now supporting rockbox options like battery display and 24/12 hour time, Themify 2 also introduces a preferences text file that lets you customise what information is shown in the Music Player. Album name, song year, file format, song rating, a volume meter and more.
I know some people have been anticipating this theme for a while, I'm sorry it took so long to release. I highly recommend downloading the theme from it's itch page as it includes a gorgeous user-manual detailing everything you can do to customise the experience. And if you want to learn more about the theme, please see it's website. Enjoy!
Ps. if you're going to try it out, I highly recommended using it on a development build of rockbox as recent fixes have made the experience far snappier and less visually buggy.
This took me roughly 6 hours to complete, but I feel so accomplished with how everything turned out!

It's hard to say, but I love this guy.
📁 SSD 128gb
🔋 1500mah: gives me about 70 hours of continuous music.
Should I change the case to another color? Taptic engine?
Leave a in the comment, give me motivation to continue to love “technology” lol.

Great to see to many posts on iPods and thank you to everyone for sharing so many things including photos, solutions and mods!
This is my first iPod Classic, always wanted one but they were too expensive when I was a kid. Now being the adult with kids, thought in finding one for nostalgia and passing it over. Also, the only other iPod I had was an iPod Shuffle which I used for many years and never failed me.
I believe based on my research that I got the 6.5 gen 120gb. The seller said is a 7 gen but no.
What would be the best approach to keep it forever?
Thank you guys and good to be here.

iPod classic thin 7th gen v2.0.4 160GB looking for a new home.
I accept Venmo, Cash App, and PayPal. DM for more pics or interest.
Faceplate & Back Plate: Used condition. The gray aluminum faceplate shows normal light wear, and the polished chrome back has typical surface scratches from regular use.
Screen Condition (Pixel Damage): Please note that there is some dead pixel/pixel damage located on the upper right quadrant of the screen. Despite this pixel wear, the screen is still fully functional, readable, and the iPod remains 100% usable. The rest of the display is bright and crisp. This is an ideal candidate for anyone looking for a daily listener as-is, or for a modder planning to swap in a fresh panel during a flash-storage build (see photo for a clear look with the screen illuminated).

But hey, this iPod has been dead and connector pads has been rotten for more than 10 years!
It’s alive! Help me understand how to fix the type-c connector on the frame…

Featuring a iPod for my friend. I feel like this is AI slop that was printed or someone real cool made it

I had no clue this existed! Pretty sick honestly
Given to me free as it won’t charge. The battery was so fat the top of the case had popped, which was immensely helpful in opening it.

I have ancient skullcandy bass boost earbuds and need a replacement soon. What do you all use? Preferably mid level quality / price.

Hi iPod enthusiasts, introducing myself in case y’all are looking to open up those iPod classics and upgrade them. I can replace batteries, install flash drives with SD’s, replace screens, headphone/hold switch assembly and do front/back plate and clickwheel changes as well. NO Bluetooth or usbc work though. Interested? let’s chat

I just recently got this silver iPod 7th gen nano sealed and never used but when I turned it on the wallpaper only has pink options and not gray/silver. I kind of like the pink but I was wondering if this was normal or some kind of factory defect?
I got this iPod video 30gb from a friend a while back. He said it isn't working. I confirmed that bit.
Before I do any mods to it I tried to see if i can get it to power on. I replaced the battery with an iFixit replacement, but i still don't get anything showing on screen.
Things i've tried:
- 2 different cables plugged into a wall charger + plugged into a computer
- 2 different batteries (the old one, the new one)
- reseating the hold button ribbon multiple times
- reseating the hdd ribbon multiple times
- reseating the battery ribbon multiple times
As far as i've read, even without the battery OR the hdd, I should still at least see something when plugging it into the wall? Is there any way to rule out the display or is this a static showpiece and nothing more (with a dead logic board)?
Thank you all <3
I've seen people use 5th generation faceplates on 7th generation iPods, so I assume they're the same size, and on the Elite Obsolete website, the logic boards of both iPods look the same. So can I upgrade my 5th generation iPod Classic with a 7th generation iPod Classic logic board?

This has a little bit of a story to it. A few weeks ago I found a Sony rdp-m7ip iPod speaker dock. I thought it was a great speaker, portable, powered by 4xAAAs and great for an easy to move speaker for outside grilling. Some comments said I gotta check out the Bose portable speaker, it sounds amazing, also portable, and has the bonus of a built in rechargeable speaker. It shows up on Facebook marketplace often. I was at the MIT tech swap meet in Boston and I came across one! It was complete in the box, priced at $25, but a good amount of beat up (scratched, dirty, missing the Bose logo) the sellers appeared to be and older couple/husband and wife, which I thought was pretty awesome that they were doing this together. Oh how I dream of selling retro tech with my wife as a team. I was talking to the husband who was showing it off to me, I asked if they would take $20? The wife chimed in and said No (which I understand) and then said they should raise the price to $40. I passed and continued with the rest of the event. A couple hours went by and it was time to head home, I stopped by the table once more to see if it was still there, it was, now priced at $35. I asked again if they would take $20, figured I’d offer once more before I started the drive home. Worse they could say is no, but they could say yes and have $20 more in their pocket and one less thing to pack. Wife said nope, but could do $30. I passed and headed home. I hope they got the money they were looking for, it just want for me. Since then I’ve been on a mission to find one and at a great deal. I started browsing Facebook marketplace to see what I could find. I found a posting with the speaker for $20 with everything but the box and manual. It was about a 2 hour drive away, I messaged the seller and it was still for sale and they offered to meet me half way. It was an older retired gentleman who was moving and just wanted to get rid of some clutter. We meet half way at a train station (hence the iPod train toot toot start of this) I get there, he opens the trunk and has the speaker, a pink iPod mini, 2xiPod touches 4th gen’s 8GB, a aux 3.5mm cable, and a Bluetooth receiver dock adapter to allow wireless transmission to the speaker. He said take it all, he was such a great guy! He didn’t want anything more for the extra goodies. I took it home, cleaned it all up, and everything worked great! Super happy with today’s pickup! I’ll look into rebuilding the battery pack for the speaker, it works fine currently with no issues, but I’m going to assume, due to its age, it’ll have to be rebuilt at some point.

Should I buy a new front faceplate and backplate for this little bad boy? Just got this 5th gen with SD adapter and 2000mAh battery inside. Looking for some recommendations 📱

This is probably a dumb thought, but every time I pick up my Apple TV remote I end up thinking the same thing.
It honestly feels really nice in the hand. The aluminum body is great, the clickpad is satisfying, and it's about the size I'd actually want to carry around.
Obviously it'll never happen, but if Apple somehow turned this into a tiny music player... I'd buy one immediately.
I can't be the only one who's had this thought.

They are in stock and ready for purchase in my shop.
I modded a 4g a few weeks ago (battery and iflash).
It has been fine, but yesterday I posted about doing a battery play test to compare with the 5g that I also recently modded. Both with differently branded 1200mah batteries from Amazon.
The 4G did well in the test and outdid the 5g with a 12 hour run (vs only 9 for the 5G). The thing is though since doing it the 4G will not charge, it shows as charging on the display but after several hours on charge it still shows as pretty much empty when I remove the cable.
Any ideas? I guess the battery could have just gone bad, but it seems a coincidence that it has started doing it after running the battery completely flat in the test.
Thanks

Phew 😮💨, it just needed a new screen. The brand new back plate is waiting for its moment of glory.

Hi, just came across an old 7th generation ipod nano. Still works great!! Finding that it only has a 14.7 gb capacity was a little disappointing, though. Plenty for a few large playlists and good albums, but I'd really like to be able to jack a good chunk of my library into it.
Does anyone have any recommendations on where to go to find someone who'd be willing to add a few gigs to this thing?
Thanks <3
