Loving my new Keyboard/case

Hey everyone. Yesterday my keyboard/case arrived and I'm absolutely loving it. It's so convenient. I don't need a cover stand or to place in in a flat surface or a wall anymore. It fully acts like a laptop. I can tilt is how I want I can move the Hinge the other way so I can use my ipad just as a tablet if I want to. The trackpad responds really well and the keyboard doesn't lag at all, however since the keys are small it's a little hard to type. (Practice makes perfect 👌). It also has led blacklists and you can change the colours to your prefence.

Now can watch using my ipad in the bed and on my stomach without issues with balance.

Question Imagine an iPad Mini with full Pro specs, would the ~8.3” screen ever be an issue for you (besides watching videos)?

Assuming an M-series chip, 120hz OLED, Thunderbolt, etc. Do you think that the screen would ever feel too cramped for:

- Windowed app-use / Stage Manager,

- Split-screen multitasking,

- Getting the most out of prosumer creative apps (ProCreate, Shapr3D, DaVinci Resolve, Lightroom)?

My only iPad experience is with the 13”, and I find it annoying how far my hands have to move all over the place to use the screen at all, and I feel like the 11” wouldn’t really be that much better.

Question Save to Files Missing

Hi, I would appreciate some help, IÂŽve been trying to find a solution to this issue but nothing seems to work. I have enough memory space, reset settings, updated iPad, uninstall and install Google Drive, the issue is also found in other apps like Whatsapp where I tried to save a book and there was no option neither.

I can download files through the webpage of Google Drive, but honestly is more convenient for me to use Whatsapp.

My iPad version is 26.5.2, please any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Storage recommendation

Hi All, I know this question has been ask a lot about 128gb is enough. Currently my iPhone is used 189/256 and iPad Pro gen 4 150/512. I am going to use the iPad mini for broswing, reading, watching video, going to you iCloud photo sync, quick short video editing for social media when travelling, emails. Do you think 128gb is sufficient or better to get the 256gb. been looking to get the iPad mini, also now sitting on the fence to get 7 or 8.

iPad Mini Keyboard?

What is everyone using as a keyboard for iPad mini? Big plus if it happens to have a track pad. I travel with mine a lot for work and the programs work better with physical keyboard and trackpad/ mouse. Don’t really want a mouse to carry one more thing.

iPad Air 4 to iPad Mini?

I love my iPad Air 4. But I travel a lot and taking it in and out of my bag for security check in the airport is such a hassle for me.

Been eying the mini for a while.

But I do love my screen size for my drawings.

Has any of you done the same ? How was the jump from big screen to small screen ?

Counter-Counter-Counter Point OLED is better than 120hz

Post image
108 Upvotes

The reason an OLED screen is more important than a 120hz screen on an iPad Mini is that not only does OLED screen produce more accurate colors because each pixel produces its own light meaning each pixel can reproduce more accurate tones and more colors in general, but an OLED screen has been proven to consume less power than a conventional Backlit screen of the same dimensions. That means that if you had 2 iPads which were identical except for one had an OLED screen and the other had a conventional LCD, the iPad with the OLED screen would have a longer battery life before needing to be plugged in from full even on max brightness.
In addition because each pixel on an OLED screen self illuminates there are less components on an OLED display than a conventional Backlit LCD where you need a dedicated backlight, an OLED screen will weight less than an LCD with the same screen size, so an iPad with an OLED display will weight less than that same iPad if it had a LCD.

The poll to settle it all: 120hz VS OLED!

Obviously both would be nice, but apparently that’s not happening. So, to settle this for this subreddit once and for all
you can have only one! Which do you choose, OLED or 120hz?

No third options possible, even though I think most would agree both should happen (or mini LED with 120hz).

Counterpoint: Mini needs a better battery, speakers, that vapor cooling sticking to A-chips before even thinking about a good 120hz OLED

There is literally nothing about my Mini that catches the same attention my 13”M4 had before trade-in, literally had a dumbass who held it and had some damn scheme to keep it at my now old job based on the dumbass’s actions. Can’t fucking steal an Apple Product so it shouldn’t have been tucked away like I wasn’t coming back for it. I digress.

The Mini fucking sucks across the board no matter how in love I am with the form factor in comparison. I could watch shit if the speakers didn’t suck despite having 4, battery life is TERRIBLE and I frequently feel it getting hot and warm, I can live with a mid front camera if the bezels weren’t the width of my pinky finger nail, the rear sensor for document scanning should be a fucking standard, and the screen just sucks. It doesn’t need 120hz yet for more sales, it needs to finally not SUCK IN QUALITY, with it being a tiny tablet, I’d rather fucking not have my battery health go to shit unnecessarily because “wahhh PROMOTION” when I know Apple’s product research team probably sees that shit everywhere and thinks “now why are you not buying the Pro device for those niche cases, complaining about something most people genuinely didn’t care about when it came to iPhones..?”

I swear the root of this conversation is MKBHD and Linus Tech Tips years ago when they’re just YouTubers with a lot of views, and had a hard time even admitting being wrong about something that also made them pretty unpopular on Reddit over time, but still have their bullshit takes being treated like gospel. I still laugh about MKBHD going “this is it, finally! With iPhones getting promotion the average consumer will care about 120hz and it’d take off!” When instead they went “where’s more OLED? My phone looks better than my TV now”

Don’t even get me started when the high refresh rate crowd jumped into screaming about movie and animation frame rates afterwards, using tools to make videos look like shit, basically ruining the idea to most people of going beyond 24fps. The more you complain, the more it becomes a calling card more than an innovation to push. People can’t even get consistent performance out of their consoles right now while paying more, you gotta read the room when Apple gotta focus on AI or legally suffer right now from false advertising during a chip and memory shortage.

iPadOS28 is definitely going to be focused on fixing multitasking, leading to that OLED 120hz Mini 9/10 because even the base iPad has some catching up to do, it still isn’t a laminated display ffs, plus, I’ve been having people come to me complaining about the Apple Pencil support on it because it’s confusing to them and they get frustrated learning Apple basically gave them the finger just because they got the cheap one to start with.

Also there’s the upcoming fold that’s going to bring back that 2000-2010s fragile iPhone memes and roasts more than likely, I don’t see that lasting long as a product, but it’d be the perfect time to push a Mini as a companion to a base iPhone to regain interest while upselling a whole powerful iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, and iPhone to someone new to the ecosystem. Patience my dudes, there’s literally nothing to scream about right now unless you had better success than me or Apple at convincing most people. The industry is full of shareholders sucking their own dicks right now to a point Apple can’t even be Apple.

Question Best case for ipad mini 7?

Please tell me about your favorite cases đŸ„ș 🙏

I think that I'd prefer one with either a keyboard and 360° rotating hinge or a strong magnetic case that I can take the ipad off the keyboard stand and use it as an ipad. I don't know for certain though, because I've never had one like that. Or is typing on something that small truly uncomfortable and would you recommend against it, or only if you're in a pinch?

Please just tell me about a case that you love and what you love about it? How has it improved your life and use of your ipad?

Counter-counter point: miniLed + 120Hz is more important than OLED

Post image
52 Upvotes

Easy. Most of us do creative professional design work on a mini. Yes, we hate bigger sizes and a mini is more than enough for some.
OLED would be amazing, yeah!
But with OLED you won't have the same color accuracy (specially in the blacks an grays side) like you have on the miniLed present in the MacBook Pros. On those delicious laptops, the levels of blacks are truly amazing and still maintaining a good coverage of standard color spectrums

...or, make an iPad Pro with mini size lol

Update or wait?

I have the iPad mini 6, and for a few months now the screen responsiveness has been absolutely terrible. I can't shut it off because of the lack of response so I have to wait until it dies to restart. When I do, it works for a few days then the problem starts again.

Question is, with all of this hype around the new mini, should I wait to get the new one or just upgrade now to the mini 7?

Counterpoint: 120hz is more important than OLED.

I got a MacBook Pro last year and am getting the iPhone 17 (currently on 13) this month, which leaves my iPad mini as the only 60hz screen I have. It’s funny because I never used to care about ProMotion when everything I had was 60hz, I could barely tell the difference. But once you get used to 120hz, it really does stand out when you’re At 60.
OLED would be nice, sure, but honestly the current screen doesn’t bother me and mini LED would have been a fine step up from the LCD one it currently has. especially given that the mini 7 is $599 now (!!!) and the 8th gen will likely be even more expensive, it’s just hard for me to imagine myself paying so much money for a device that’s the only one in Apple’s fleet (or that I have at least) still stuck at 60hz.

my concern is that if the mini 8 sells poorly because of price and 60hz, they might can the thing altogether :/

Mini 7 Battery Replacement?

Has anyone done one of these yet through Apple? I know they offered replacements on batteries for the mini 6, any idea how much replacing it costs for the 7 though?

Do they do it same day in shop?

These ipad mini prices are absurd

Yes I know there is a price hike going on. But the ipad mini 7 is being priced around $570 on amazon and $599 on best buy for a device thats been out since 2024 and has a new upcoming model that seems all but confirmed coming out later this year. It was literally under $400 last year.

Never buying Apple.

New Hardware New to the IPad Mini

Hello!
My name is Andrea. I’m new in this forum because I just bought a new IPad mini!
I wasn’t sure if I should buy the 256 or 512 GB version,but I got a great deal of a 512Gb WiFi version so I bought it.
With it,I got some accessories, the MOFT dynamic folio case, the paper like 3 screen protector, the Apple Pencil Pro, the Nillkin keyboard with touchpad and I already have the AirPods Pro 3 and the Max. For gaming,I bought the Gamesir G8 Plus controller.
I’m so glad I bought the Mini and all these accessories, they are amazing!
This setup works pretty well and is very lightweight.
I have a MacBook Air m4 15” so, for me, an iPad 11” or 15” wasn’t a good idea, since when I want something big for productivity or entertainment I have the macbook. So, I wanted something smaller and portable to carry in my sling everyday, as long (or to replace, I’m not sure yet), my kobo libra colour.
Talking about software, I have a lot of games installed, including Call of Duty mobile and Delta Force, and FC mobile, Genshin Impact, and so many more
Also have XBOX Game pass Ultimate. I love gaming specially FPS.
To take advantage of my Apple Pencil Pro, I have Goodnotes 6, and some painting and drawing apps like Pigment, Artwork, and Lake. Also use a lot of other apps

With all that I have installed, I only have 170GB occupied of my 512Gb
 :).
I just wanted to share my happiness with you guys.
Cheers !
