Dude moved to a pole, so he could become a polar bear

11

u/LA-SKYLINE 6h ago

Guess it'll have to just grin and bear it up there.

I've never had an original thought

They got it down safely.

I’m not sure if it’s the same bear, but there have been other cases of bears on power poles in Cochise County, Arizona over the years.

And seems like the same lineman keeps getting them down.

Idk maybe he’s trained them to climb them, for job security.

I am a lineman for the county ...

Is this a Psychonauts reference I see before me?!

3

u/__phil1001__ 2h ago

No a song reference

1

u/Unicorns_Butthole 1h ago

Ah, learn something new every day 😁 cheers!

In Psychonauts, the G-Men dress up as different people and say things like, "I am a grieving widow."

Glenn Campbell, "Wichita Lineman"

I'd like to think this is a single part in a series following this wayward bear and the lineman who isn't quite sick of his shit yet.

2

u/keyboardtoes 6h ago

did you see that bear that was living in an industrial windmill?

2

u/Darth_Ronin 6h ago

No, I might be coming off as more of a randomly placed bear expert than I should be right now.

I’m familiar with this randomly placed bear, because I posted the same video on another sub, so I looked up the details.

But I am always open to learning about new randomly placed bears.

Where will they be next?

Bottom of the ocean fighting a sawtooth shark with a street sign.

Glad to hear. When bears were showing up in neighborhoods in my area 25 years ago they'd run up a tree, police and fire department would surround it and after a couple hours they'd decide to shoot the bear with a tranquilizer gun. Almost every time the bear would die when it would fall asleep and fall to the ground. Now having a bear go through neighborhoods is a somewhat common occurrence and instead of calling the police we go inside and try to get a good video to post online.

This video isn't from Arizona. The bear you're referencing was rescued in 2025. Everyone just blindly referencing the Werner Neubauer video is dumb. Even if you know nothing about power poles, you can tell the other video has a lot more equipment on the pole. Even if you don't know much about geography, you can tell this isn't Arizona.

1

u/Alternative-Sign-220 4h ago

This bear died. You’re referring to another one

u/kingkellogg 44m ago

Just looked it up. This bear died from electric shock

0

u/j-shoe 6h ago

Where's this video?!

2

u/Darth_Ronin 6h ago

I don’t have a video it was an update on insta, like you can go google it, I’ve provided enough details lol

“They”

The people recording this little TikTok?

u/Darth_Ronin 6h ago

Nah the utility crew.

> A black bear was safely rescued after climbing a utility pole in rural Cochise County, Arizona, and ending up dangerously close to live power lines. Utility crews quickly shut off the electricity before beginning the rescue.

> Lineman Werner J. Neubauer used a fiberglass pole from a bucket truck to gently encourage the bear to climb down. The animal safely reached the ground unharmed and ran back into the desert. No injuries were reported.

And if you look up Werner you’ll see it wasn’t his first rodeo

I'm pretty sure he went up in a cherry picker with a bucket of salmon. Had the bear put its fall protection harness on and then they lowered per OSHA rules.

4

u/Due_Reputation3785 6h ago

I didn’t even know there were bears in Arizona.

u/Low-Crow5719 25m ago

Lots of them. Bear country is up above the Mogollon Rim, from maybe Flagstaff southeast to the White Mountains.

But the U of A's "Bear Down" has nothing to do with getting bears down from poles.

2

u/KillHonger1 6h ago

No, utility workers did

u/-Call-me-Cal- 6h ago

Bear: No shade at all. Worst tree ever. 0 of 5 stars would not recommend.

3

u/StitchFan626 6h ago

And yet, he's still up there? Maybe he's not looking for shade, maybe he's having an identity crisis and thinks he's a bird?

10

u/CanIDevIt 6h ago

Those poles are a real hazard for flying bears.

6

u/NoDragonfruit6125 6h ago

Obviously he thought he was Australian. Just waiting for something to come underneath and then he'll be a Drop Bear.

5

u/Witty-Stand888 6h ago

I came for the views now how the hell do I get back down?

3

u/ParachutingPiglets 5h ago

wtf?! Have I reached the end of internet?

2

u/Milliondollarjuice 6h ago

He is not stuck. He enjoys the view and the wind. He'a a POLEr bear now

2

u/GatFussyPals 6h ago

"I am a lineman for the county And I drive the main road Searchin' in the sun for another damn bear that's got stuck up a pole..."

1

u/HatRevolutionary1709 6h ago

1

u/VirtuteECanoscenza 6h ago

Is It panting or being electrocuted?

1

u/Waiwai789 6h ago

How could the bear not get electrocuted?

1

u/Majestic_Ad_320 6h ago

Bears are in the bird family thus they can land on power lines. Ur welcome

1

u/Mishapi17 6h ago

Just a perfectly ordinary day in Australia with the damn Drop bears.

1

u/Due_Reputation3785 6h ago

Stoopid Bear!

1

u/anally_ExpressUrself 6h ago

So relatable. We've all been there.

1

u/D0hB0yz 5h ago

It is overheated, because Arizona is hot.

It is just trying to catch a breeze.

1

u/Upset_Bowler_8820 5h ago

Just leave it be 😂

1

u/navy_yn2000 4h ago

It's obviously aliens. They try to beam them up to the UFO, but they're too heavy and land on the pole.

1

u/Lue33 4h ago

It was just chasing and collecting golden jiggies ...

1

u/bashful_means 3h ago

Bear-ly hanging on.

1

u/Public_Blueberry_777 3h ago

Oh no…does anyone know if he got down?

1

u/Past_One3442 3h ago

Its the graboids

1

u/modka 2h ago

”Just leave it be.” Damn, I’m sure he wanted to wrestle a bear off some live wires…who wouldn’t?

1

u/el_grande_ricardo 2h ago

Who wants to climb up and help him down?

1

u/DaMan316GooD 2h ago

Animals would go instinct if it wasn't for us homo sapiens.

1

u/Texan-Tango 1h ago

Buddy is 2 inches from going phase to ground. Hopefully they were able to de-energize and save him.

1

u/dtoddh 1h ago

I am a linebear for the county...
