MISC. In Backrooms, instead of being fully CGI, Pirate Clark was played by 7’7” Robert Bobroczkyi, a former college basketball player. Spoiler

Note: The peg leg and the facial animation was CGI in the film.

He also played the offspring in alien Romulus

99

u/Viva_La_Revolucion- 22h ago

Immediately thought of that when i seen him also

46

u/LPulseL11 22h ago

Oh shit that was hella creepy

9

u/big-dick-back-intown 17h ago

When I saw it in theaters someone audibly gagged when he showed up, like loud as fuck

6

u/cracked-tumbleweed 11h ago

I said NOPE….louder than I meant to🫠

Great time tho.

4

u/Conscious_Pipe_605 9h ago

Same, but I think I said "Fuck that" instead. It just slipped out the moment that thing came into view lol

2

u/big-dick-back-intown 4h ago

Definitely, my mouth was hanging open for the whole ending lmao

18

u/AndVank212 21h ago

I've never seen my friends squirm more until that scene in theaters, it was hilarious

15

u/Greedy-Pilot-4538 21h ago

He's def found a niche in the industry

13

u/reginaldwrigby 19h ago

It’s an amazing story honestly. Real Sports (rip) covered him years ago and highlighted his insecurities, which apparently are common in pretty much all people above 7”, as well as the extreme pressures to be acceptable at basketball. Look at him now, Mr Hollywood

4

u/Artikay 19h ago

I still have not seen Romulus. Is it good? Is it a stand alone movie? I can't remember much about prometheous or covenant.

14

u/Ok-Fishing3376 19h ago

Romulus was great! You can definitely watch it as a standalone there’s not much that’s relevant to prometheous/covenant

4

u/InstructionDeep5445 19h ago

Pretty good & solid Alien movie with some nostalgia factor if you love the old movies

1

u/Crotean 4h ago

its the best Alien movie since Aliens. Its quite good and the last 20 minutes is disturbing as hell.

3

u/ClusterChuk 20h ago

Loved him in space jam.

2

u/UncaringNonchalance 20h ago

That’s pretty fly, for a white guy.

2

u/TaurusPeak 17h ago

Saw pic 3 and knew it immediately

1

u/Lieutenant_Corndogs 19h ago

Didn’t even have to wear makeup for it

63

u/ODB_Dirt_Dog_ItsFTC 21h ago

That dude’s body proportions are nuts. He doesn’t even look real.

14

u/Ok-Low-9618 15h ago

Best description I saw was he looks like playstation 1 graphics

5

u/thetrickyginger 20h ago

I don't want to roast him, but dude looks like a Stretch Armstrong that lost its elasticity.

163

u/TheGame81677 21h ago

Is that guy healthy? That’s the thinnest person I have ever seen.

179

u/GardenDwell 21h ago

he's 7'7", he definitely has to have some kind of medical condition in the first place and physics is actively working against him having a healthy figure. that's probably the heaviest his body can possibly be

91

u/TheMorgueDonator 20h ago

Apparently his height is naturally caused by genetics(his father is actually 7'1"), though he seems to have scoliosis, can't gain muscle or weight(he has tried), has joint issues, and has to eat 8k+ calories a day.

52

u/Lucky_Reporter256 20h ago

8k is insane. That sounds truly miserable

39

u/WtfThisIsntWii 19h ago

That was Michael Phelps’ intake when he was actively training for the Olympics. This dude is eating the same amount to just kinda walk around.

7

u/Accomplished-City484 10h ago

Isn’t that just hunger though? It’s not like he’d have to force feed all that

1

u/ethanlan 4h ago

Im six seven and need 5000 and that sucks, poor guy jeez

2

u/elrangarino 10h ago

I hope he doesn’t live in too much pain, awesome he gets to act etc

-5

u/guydoestuff 16h ago

meanwhile i barely eat 1500 at times. sometimes way over yes but a lot of the time i hardly eat and no im not a wafer im 6'2" ish 266 lbs. just a lot of mobility issues thanks to being disabled.

1

u/Accomplished-City484 10h ago

Sorry to hear about your mobility issues, I’m a similar height and weight and started going to the gym but started getting shin splints so trying to work around that. I wanted to focus on diet next, do you use an app for calorie counting or do you just already kinda know that stuff?

27

u/FunboyFrags 21h ago

That looks like it might be Marfans syndrome

17

u/TheMorgueDonator 20h ago

Doctors ruled that and gigantism out, its apparently just genetics.

6

u/poblazaid 21h ago

Have you seen Javier Botet ?

1

u/electricalserge 13h ago

Javier Botet's height is due to Marfan syndrome. Bobroczkyi's height isn't due to a condition or genetic disorder like gigantism as seen with most extremely people. He was simply genetically predisposed to be extremely tall.

His father was 7'1 and mother was 6'1.

2

u/A-Giant-Blue-Moose 20h ago

There's comes a point when the heart struggles to get enough blood where it needs to go.

11

u/JonnySmallPotatoes 21h ago

I wonder how many calories his body needs a day?

5

u/TheMorgueDonator 20h ago

2000 calories wow that’s quite a lot

4

u/Temporary-Bluejay631 20h ago

Wow save some calories for the rest of us please.

15

u/Aussie18-1998 21h ago

Ah yes, probably below average for a male...

0

u/butternutflies 19h ago

or something crazy, yes…

1

u/oldmanbombin 19h ago

That's the joke. Jesus you people

3

u/SerDuncanTheYall 21h ago

Have you seen Eugenia Cooney?

3

u/sinsculpt 20h ago

That poor girl

2

u/thetrickyginger 20h ago

Is she still alive? I hope she is and got help with her ED.

2

u/DigitalUnlimited 21h ago

Slenderman is real

1

u/Westafricangrey 17h ago

To operate at that height he’d need probably 4 times the daily intake of a normal person. I’m bulking in the gym & I feel like I’m force feeding myself at 2800 calories a day

122

u/Cantstandya-777 22h ago

While I didn’t really care for the movie, I hope he keeps taking parts like this. He really is perfect for these kinds of performances.

28

u/Exact-Photograph-652 21h ago

His alien Romulus role was insanely well done, I hope he keeps taking more roles like this

2

u/Accomplished-City484 10h ago

Yeah this dude is awesome, like Doug Jones or Andy Serkis

19

u/LessBig715 22h ago

Looks like he has a prosthetic leg in the first pic

29

u/omyomo 20h ago

He's got a green sock and shoe so it can be edited out. The monster in the movie has a peg leg.

3

u/LessBig715 20h ago

Yeah, he is really thin though. Did you see the movie, I was thinking of renting it, but it’s $20. If you did, how was it?

3

u/Mrsam_25 20h ago

You know there are 456 movies i like other than backrooms and they're much cheaper to rent especially the ones from .nl (Netherlands) those Europeans make them cheap.

0

u/AgentCirceLuna 16h ago

The use of ‘vibes, maxxing, locked in, cooked’ and such to describe settings and description pisses me off.

1

u/thewend 20h ago

great watch, wouldnt pay 20 bucks for it. didnt it release on amazon prime already?

1

u/LessBig715 20h ago

Yeah, last I checked it was $20

1

u/LessBig715 20h ago

Yup, still $20

1

u/FireHammer09 20h ago

I loved it.

Not a lot of movies lately just go all in on making their set design so unnerving and the movie gets a lot of atmosphere and creep factor from the uncanny valley on how something as basic as rooms and furniture should appear.

0

u/Riddles_ 17h ago

learn how to sail, friend. makes all media free

-3

u/scrotumscab 19h ago

I watched a sped up gif of the entire movie and it looked pretty boring

21

u/Limp-Theory9173 21h ago

Damn, that's some dope shit

9

u/probloodmagic 22h ago

You ever think about how big dogs die younger than small dogs because it's harder on their hearts to pump blood to their whole body and then get sad. Anyway

14

u/ggfchl 21h ago

In some films, you see dwarves (think Peter Dinklage) casted. Not too many films you see 7+ ft tall people.

1

u/tickingboxes 21h ago

*cast

-1

u/Little_Challenge_160 19h ago

Your wright butt I'd doesrnt make you knot a gnerd for takin da tyme 2 pointe I'd outs

6

u/Lich_Apologist 21h ago

Two Doug Joneses in a trenchcoat?

29

u/islaisla 22h ago

This movie is AWESOME

2

u/whineyinternetkid 22h ago

Wait till you see the thousands of youtube videos exactly like this

9

u/IKenDoThisAllDay 21h ago

Minus the real sets, real actors, and production value, sure.

-4

u/Choice_Blackberry406 21h ago

Which is what makes them better 👍

4

u/Chirrrpy 21h ago

Wow, tall! He could get that limb off my roof. And the high up grocery store chips

2

u/A_Unqiue_Username 19h ago

Why do you keep your limbs on your roof? It is yours, right?

3

u/Dibblidyy 21h ago

His surname has Bob Ross in it??

13

u/-DoctorSpaceman- 22h ago

So he was doing blackface the whole time?!

/s

15

u/weirdgroovynerd 21h ago

I know who I am!

I'm the dude playin' the dude, disguised as a...

... pirate!

4

u/izza123 21h ago

I liked the movie until they introduced the facsimile people and the Clark monster. Tanked the tone imo

1

u/Accomplished-City484 10h ago

Because they explained too much? Made the idea itself feel smaller?

1

u/izza123 8h ago

Partially because the visual style of the creatures clashed badly with the backrooms aesthetic and partially because I just didn’t like their inclusion

2

u/ChurchOfSuicidal 21h ago

He did or does live in Geneva, OH.

2

u/TomToe420 21h ago

Must have took over Matthew McGrory work. R.I.P.

2

u/NoLibrarian5149 18h ago

The Next Matthew McGrory (RIP) it seems…
Really tall dude that takes on interesting roles in quirky movies.
Ran in to him out in the suburbs when my daughter was really young (late 90s/2000) when he was standing outside a store in Exton PA. I only knew him from the Howard Stern Show and the Marilyn Manson video at that point.

10

u/michelobX10 22h ago

Damn. He looks freaky even without the mask.

35

u/The_Best_Yak_Ever 22h ago

He’s apparently just the result of having two very tall parents (well… dad. But mom is 6’2”), not a hormonal or other condition. But I feel for the guy. He struggled to put on muscle mass and it kept him from advancing in basketball. Him running looks really uncomfortable for him.

I’m glad he can do this stuff, though he’s also multi lingual and has a degree in cyber security I believe, so chap sounds like he’s gonna be alright!

11

u/BVRPLZR_ 21h ago

Tall folks like this don’t end up lasting very long unfortunately. The heart just gives up eventually. The guy that played Tiny in House of 1000 Corpses died of heart failure at just 32

7

u/The_Best_Yak_Ever 21h ago

Yep. Reckon that’s one of the blessings for people who worry they’re too short.

32 is way too young… :-(

14

u/whineyinternetkid 22h ago

Thats nice to say

3

u/Naive_Confidence7297 21h ago

Rude.

Hes also going to die young.

2

u/Historical_West_9768 21h ago

spoiler content

3

u/Zealousideal-Trash5 21h ago

Anyone else intensely dislike how human they made the monsters in an effort to create an emotionally driven narrative?

5

u/Peanut_007 19h ago

I actually thought it was a much more cohesive idea then just having random monsters. The monster is just what a person looks like when you jumble all the parts of their life together without any real structure.

0

u/Zealousideal-Trash5 19h ago

It wasn’t just random monsters though, it was the concept of a creature from an extra dimension or another universe all together. Sure there were simplifications for budget reasons in the source material but we could have kept that spirit of true otherness.

Ambigous monsters ask more questions than they answer and that’s part of what makes horror so wonderful - the not knowing.

2

u/PiperbeingPiper 22h ago

The basketball player who played him was pretty famous I think

1

u/DangerousSpecial38 21h ago

Oh shit at least he found something to do with his size happy for jim

1

u/Silent-Hedgehog-7520 20h ago

If Pituitary Tumor had a face, it would be this dude

1

u/Ornery-Sleep3584 20h ago

Shoutout to practical effects, this looks way more unsettling than any CGI tall guy ever could

1

u/No-Yogurtcloset4763 20h ago

"Dude, is that fucking Blackface"

1

u/Plastic_Stretch_8837 20h ago

That’s a neck.

1

u/WatermelonLemonad3 20h ago

Pic 3 is scarier than the others 😄

1

u/PlasticMegazord 18h ago

Such an unique build for a person.

1

u/AFerociousPineapple 17h ago

I know he was hired for just being a big human but he did do a good job and I hope he keeps getting roles, he was genuinely unnerving in Alien Romulus

1

u/usernamerat 16h ago

He'd be perfect for the role of slenderman

1

u/Impressive-Message77 16h ago

IT WAS THE ALIEN ROMULUS GUY AGAIN HELL YEAH

1

u/Grizzled_Ghost 11h ago

The rare creature actor who looks scarier without the costume.

1

u/flintstones19 10h ago

Wait is the smaller guy in the first pic the director? How old is he?

1

u/RuinRevolutionary374 10h ago

20 years old while filming. He’s since turned 21

1

u/leadwind 8h ago

I just watched this - i feel for his back. But it was a great performance.

1

u/Crotean 4h ago

The one part of the movie where the budget let it down. The face looked so bad. It just looked like a paper mache head. They shouldn't have shown the face imho.

1

u/hamfist_ofthenorth 21h ago edited 21h ago

I still haven't seen it yet but thanks for spoiling it, dingdong.

Wtf

1

u/RuinRevolutionary374 21h ago

I totally forgot to mark the spoiler tag. Really sorry. Hope you still like the movie whenever you watch it.

1

u/LiitleGreenMan 20h ago

He also played the long limbed alien in Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

-1

u/EpicallyLazyBoy 21h ago

Question, does this count as blackface?

-19

u/sublime_mime 22h ago

might be the only time ever they should have used CGI

-2

u/AlBundyPolk33 20h ago

Awful movie.

-16

u/binger5 22h ago

Should've kept the mask off

11

u/whineyinternetkid 22h ago

Are you in 4th grade? Miserable ass

-18

u/splashaddikt 22h ago

Seems racist

10

u/tinfoilsheild 22h ago

I really hope you're not trying to imply this is blackface.

8

u/maynardd1 21h ago

Seems stupid..

I mean you, of course

-4

u/splashaddikt 19h ago

Just wanted to see yall get triggered it worked lol

2

u/maynardd1 19h ago

Pretty fuck'n far from being "triggered".. but okay little buddy..
