Making a decision for school/career

Hi everyone, I just graduated from art school last year, and I struggled with pretty bad anxiety during my studies and burned out by the time I graduated. I'm currently in a state of limbo and trying to figure out what to do next.

I really want to keep being an artist, but I’m not sure if I can pursuing that path seriously because I don’t think I’ve fully recovered mentally yet. I started reading the I-Ching several weeks ago, and I decided to consult it about my situation.

I asked the I Ching: “What is the potential outcome if I take the path of an artist?”
I got 54 with the 3rd Yin, and then the changing to 34.

I took this as a sign that I do have potential to be an artist but I first need to become more stable and unlearn what's created anxiety for me, and try being an artist again later when I feel better. After this reading, I reconsidered another plan I had where maybe, instead of doing a post-graduate degree in art next year, I might do diploma in graphic design, something more practical and less lofty and emotional. And then try to be an artist again later.

So my next question was:

“What is the potential outcome if I do a diploma in graphic design next year?”
I got 33 with the 1st yin and 3rd yang, and changing to 25.

I’m not sure what this reading is telling me, whether it’s telling me not to study graphic design next year or it’s telling me that I should study graphic design as a strategic retreat and as a way to relearn how to be creative correctly.

I was wondering what you guys think of the reading?

Thanks for reading my post.

"Ominous Crows" is a book for those interested in both crows and the occult arts. It includes every available example of crow and raven divination, as practiced in numerous times and places throughout history. Detailed information is included which should enable the modern reader to understand and even replicate ancient methods of corvid augury. It is available through Etsy. https://www.etsy.com/listing/4534098190/ominous-crows-corvid-divination-through

Conparing the Binary Sequence to the King Wen Sequence via... Embroidery

One for the Math fans

Imagine each yang line is a 1, yin is 0, and the lines form binary place value columns. So for example hexagram 30, Clinging, ䷝, would be 101101, and therefore have a binary value of 32+8+4+1=45.

The first image is one annotated by Leibniz, where the 64 hexagrams are laid out in Binary order (I think this is also known as the Fu Xi Sequence). The second is where I have connected each hexagram to six others, representing the change in line one with red thread, line two with orange, line three with yellow, line four green, line five blue, and line 6 is purple. As expected, this colourway makes a symmertrical pattern, as it is based on successive line changes just like the binary ordering itself.

And then! If the hexagrams are arranged in the King Wen sequence, but with the arcs between them preserved, we get the third picture - I love it, it worked out chaotic and beautiful.

Upcoming interview - Hexagram 8.1.3 -> 63 Changing lines are opposite ( "Seek, and ye shall find." / Seeking what should be left alone. )

Basically I asked the oracle "What should I do in order to get this job prospect in the interview?" and I got two very opposing changing lines, and don't know how to interpret.

Hexagram 8 – Union (Pi)

Holding Together indicates good fortune, but let the querent re-examine himself by divination whether his virtue is great, un-intermitting and firm. If so, there will be no error. Those who are ready will then join him, but those who delay will meet with misfortune.

Changing Lines

8.1 – "Sincerity of union is the key."
The first line, magnetic, shows its subject seeking by her sincerity to win the attachment of her object. There will be no error. Let the breast be full of sincerity as an earthenware vessel is of its contents, and it will in the end bring other advantages. Sincere devotion to the Work brings eventual reward: "Modesty is the best policy. Seek, and ye shall find."

8.3 – "Unite not with unworth's iniquity!"
The third line, magnetic, shows its subject seeking for union with such as ought not to be associated with. The people in the environment of your inquiry are not right for you at this time. Avoid too intimate an association with the group while maintaining an outward sociability. Appearing committed to these people could darken your reputation later on. Portrayal of an alliance with inferior forces. You have a bad attitude, or are tempted by an inferior choice. Seeking what should be left alone.

Resulting Hexagram 63 – After Completion

Completion intimates progress and success in small matters. There is advantage in firm correctness. There had been good fortune in the beginning; there may be disorder in the end.

I feel like line 3 is really suspicious here, I don't know much about the firm and I'm confused now.

Questions and Discussions Anyone Else Miss Their Divination Tools ?

Hi all !

So maybe this is because I’ve recently started doing Cartomancy but sometimes when I haven’t been around my cards or interacted with them for awhile, I miss them. Like I actually want to go sit with them, talk to them, and ask them questions.

Anyone else get this way with their divination tools ?

Just Sharing His thoughts of me vs his intentions lmfao 😆

Hi, I dont need any interpretation help, but feel free to share if you have one. I just thought this was hilarious. I pulled some cards about someone who I have been becoming friends with. There's nothing romantic, I just wanted to check the vibes ig. Anyways, this is why you should always ask for someones intentions towards you instead of just their thoughts haha. He views me as a dream come true, but intends to... eat away at and snuff out my light? Hmm I see, I see...

Thoughts: 9 of Cups

Intentions (Lenormand): Mice, Scythe, Stars.

I used Shadowscapes Tarot and Sleepwalker's Lenormand, if anyone is curious.

Gratitude & the iChing?

So I have been dabbling with iChing for about 20 years, and this year I decided to get a more in depth knowledge. Yesterday after an extraordinarily good night's sleep, I simply did not have an in depth question to ask. Instead of asking a BS question, I made a statement of gratitude, "I am grateful for an excellent nights sleep." I threw the coins and received 17.1.2 -> 47 [Sui/Following to K'un/Oppression, Exhaustion].

Is this an appropriate use of the iChing? (I do not want piss anybody off on the spirit side, and I kinda think consulting any Oracle on trivial insights is disrespectful.)

I would love to hear more skilled seers take swing at the interpretation. My take is positive, as if the Dragon chuckled a bit, and then patted me on the head. But I have a long road ahead.

61.4.6 to 58 on a career decision

Hi, so I consulted the Iching regarding stopping a medication which has side effects like brain fog, memory problems, and difficulty speaking, because I have just got a new contract and I will be traveling abroad to go to work. My work depends on speaking and having a clear mind to be able to do it properly, so I asked the Iching what would happen if I stopped the medication, and this is what I got.

Any advice or interpretation of this hexagram would be appreciated. I asked it how it would impact my work and general wellbeing if I stopped the medication.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Interpretation Help One of those things that makes you go: that’s kind of a spooky coincidence, right?

Please share your interpretations as well! Here’s my experience:

I did a spell (my friend made her own as well, hers is the bottle with a cork and mine is the pickle jar for reasons) to help with self-improvement over the next year or so. I wanted it to be something between like a vision board and a time capsule, where i chose pictures/quotes along with herbs/crystals and other ingredients that fit the vibes of the areas I want to work on and then in a year I’m going to open it like a time capsule and celebrate the progress I made. Each month I’m going to melt a new candle over the top to recharge it. That whole process is definitely not how I typically do my spell jars but I wanted to try something new!

Anyways, after the doing first part of the spell, I lit my candle over the lid to seal it and for like 30 minutes the wax melted into what looked like a horse face, a knight chess piece, or a seahorse before melting down the rest of the way and a chunk falling off shaped like a horse with a mermaid tail (I believe the creature in general is called a hippocampus).

My friend and I thought “that seems…. really specific” so I decided to pull some tarot cards for clarity, maybe to see if I’d get a card with horse imagery like The Sun. As I was shuffling, two cards jumped right out and landed in front of the jar on the table: The Emperor reversed and The Chariot upright.

My interpretation: I’m not super familiar with symbolism of a lot of creatures in mythology but it seems like a hippocampus and/or seahorses are associated with strength, hope, and protection. I take the tarot cards in the context of the spell to mean that in order to reach the goals in mind, I need to break out of the patterns I’ve held onto and charge forward with confidence, discipline, and strength. All signs combined, my interpretation is that the spell will very strongly help me along the way as long as I put in the work to become who I want to be. That I need to take charge of my own life and push forward.

Does anyone have any other insight as to what the different wax shapes / tarot cards might mean?

Interpretation Help Pendulum questions

Post image
28 Upvotes

Hi I'm a still fairly new magic user is what I consider myself even after years of using spell jars and rituals I don't practice my witchcraft as often as I should, a lot has happened rn with my boyfriend of 7 years family and while talking to him, his cousin had told him earlier that his family is cursed. I decided to consult my Pendulum board for guidance on if I could help him with this "curse" by using a spell or spell jar, what my pendulum managed to spell out was, "no are back." I asked to make sure that the sentence was completed and it wildly swung yes, rn im puzzled on how to interpret this. My boyfriends family has had terrible luck over the years and it seems that he has always been stuck in the middle of it, if one thing good happened it is like a bad thing must happen afterwards. This is a crisis (I wont disclose what happened to give his family privacy) that happened right after he got his first job. Please let me know if anyone can help!

Interpretation Help Is there a deity trying to contact me?

Hello guys, I forgot to take the picture, but I remember the questions and the answers. Here we go:

first line:
Is there a deity? 4 of wands

your attributes: chariot, 10 of pentacles, king of swords.

second line:

Do I know your name? 5 of wands.

From where do you come from? King of pentacles

are you Freyja? 4 of cups

are you female? moon.

third line:

Are you Isis? 5 of cups

Are you greek? ace of pentacles

Are you Hestia? 10 of swords

Are you Athena? strength

I think that not only She is trying to reach, but She is already close to me, and is a bit emotional.

Would that be a good interpretation? I really need some help here

Questions and Discussions your cat is the most accurate divination tool in your house

Post image
46 Upvotes

If you've been second-guessing every card you pull lately, re-shuffling, asking the same question three different ways, that tracks. Mercury is retrograde in cancer and it's making everyone's inner knowing feel like a radio station that won't quite tune. So put the deck down for a second and watch your cat.

Cats don't consult anything. They read a room by walking into it. Notice where yours has been sleeping this week, which lap it's chosen, which door it won't go near. That's not superstition, that's an animal doing what divination actually is, which is paying attention without arguing with what you notice.

Here's the part worth keeping. Your cat doesn't pull a clarifier. It doesn't wonder if it read the sunbeam wrong. It moves when the room changes and settles when it's safe, and it trusts its own noticing completely. You have that same equipment. The retrograde isn't scrambling your intuition, it's just asking you to stop cross-examining it.

So tonight, before you reach for the cards, try one round of cat logic. Where do you want to sit? Who feels warm? Start there.

Where has your cat been parking itself this week?

Questions and Discussions Scrying and natural ability

Dearest fellow of r/Divination

I have come to ask a simple question, can you (in your opinion) develop Scrying skills if you lack the ability to already see the unseen, or do you have to have that ability then Scrying is a more dialed in on demand technique to use said ability? I have a very active and visual imagination but I have never seen a ghost or spirit personally. I have been looking at my bowl of water for a while now, a few times per week and I am not making any progress which makes me wonder if this is a skill I can even develop if I am not ‘gifted’ in this way.

Please help about school decision. I am torn.

Hello! I just found this sub and hope it's okay to ask for reading help right off the bat. I did a reading for myself but I am still confused.

This is about a school program / curriculum. I did a reading about A and B program. My family is pressuring me to transfer to A. It is more traditional. It also might be harder for me due to some things I have not mastered. I am currently in B.

For A, I got Hexagram 63 changing to 57.
For B, I got Hexagram 33, unchanging.

Ultimately, what I say goes. But I am not at peace right now. Will you please help with the interpretations? My own interpretation is, for A, I would need to ask for support. But there's also nothing wrong with standing my ground (B).

Or is there something negative I'm missing? Any warnings?

Thanks in advance!

The Missing Map of I Ching Divination

Many people know how to cast an I Ching hexagram and read the Judgment and changing line texts.

But casting is not the same as interpretation.

Chinese I Ching divination also developed through image, number, timing, position, movement, relationships, and structured methods of judgment.

This video introduces that larger map:

I would be interested to hear how others first encountered the I Ching.

Bias toward "waiting" advice?

New to I Ching and have done just a few readings - I am noticing that much of the advice I seem to be receiving involves waiting, stillness, and patience. Is this a coincidence or is this very common throughout the work? I am using the Brian Browne Walker book.

A few examples:

3 difficulty at the beginning (be patient; persevere in nonaction)

47 oppression (quiet strength insures later success)

9 the taming power of the small (accept restraint; subtlety is called for)

6 conflict (the proper response is disengagement)

5 waiting (self-explanatory)

I see that these hexagrams have different nuances and imagery but a lot of them give me a similar feeling in terms of advice. So I am wondering if this advice keeps coming up for me for a reason, or if this attitude is part of the I Ching philosophy. Thanks!

I’ve just got myself my own pair and I was really excited to start using them but I haven’t gotten any responses or answers yet using it. I’ve tried to establish yes and no already and invite only benevolent beings to interact but I get nothing so far. I really wanna use the rods for guidance, any advice for a beginner?

Tips and Tricks Excited to Begin Cartomancy !

Hi all ! I recently have gotten in Cartomancy and today I decided to begin bonding with the deck I found in my house ( I did cleanse it before and after use).

I asked the deck about itself and pulled a Queen of Clubs and that made me smile. Felt a good sense of a femininity and kindness , that the deck was there to help and guide me as I learn and grow !

Then I asked how the deck felt about me and pulled 6 of Hearts and then I got all giddy ! Got a good sense of connection and that my deck had good, fond feelings for me !

Does anyone have any more questions or bonding exercises that I could do to better bond / get a feel for my deck ? I’d greatly appreciate any help ! 🌹💕
