Just finished watching MKBHD's impression video and I'm curious. Are you guys planning to switch to Samsung if this is cheaper than iPhone's Folding phone? It's light and small which is really good.

Recently bought a second hand 13 mini as my second device as an entry as well to iOS and so far it’s been good aside from the laggy iOS 26 stable. Currently in the iOS 27 public beta and just received a new update for the beta 2. Any warnings for the beta 2 before I install it?

My new, sealed iPhone 13 Mini Starlight 256GB (it’s in this box because it’s a replacement unit—the kind Apple sends you under warranty that aren't sold at retail).

Is everybody suffering performance degradation, or are there people who haven't felt it?

My 13 mini water damage detector has gone off and there is some water residue in the camera lens but the phone is 100% perfectly functional, even the camera still takes perfect photos and everything is fine. But to my understanding, Apple will not replace the battery if the water damage sensor has gone off. Do they make any exceptions to this? What are my options to replace a dying battery otherwise?

My 13 mini has been having all sorts of memory issues lately. Sometimes this random band appears at the bottom of the screen, and I have to clear out the app to get it to go away.

Recently, my sound just stopped working. I would essentially have to restart my whole phone to get the sound back.

However, in the last week, something completely new has happened. On three separate occasions, my sound has gone out. Initially, I thought no big deal, I’ll just reboot the phone. But then when it reboots, it goes to a screen, which will no longer allow me to access my phone, unless I’m either on my Wi-Fi network, or I can connect it to my MacBook. This means I have to run around town trying to find some public Wi-Fi to access my phone again.

Any idea of what’s going on? Because this interfered with my ability to get work completed the other day and that’s a problem.

I can deal with a slow laggy phone, I can’t deal with the phone that won’t allow me to access it.

Hey guys, I need some advice on a used iPhone 13 Mini I just bought.

I got a 128GB model for ₹16,000. The seller mentioned the phone had crashed previously and was repaired. The battery health is currently at 78% and it drains quite fast in standby.

My original plan was to take it to an official Apple Store and pay roughly ₹8,000 for a genuine battery replacement. I thought ₹24,000 total for a 13 Mini with a brand-new official battery would be a great setup.

However, I just noticed an "Unknown Part" message in the settings. It turns out the display is a non-genuine, third-party screen (it has a slightly yellowish tint). I looked it up online and found that Apple Stores might refuse to change the battery if the phone has non-genuine parts [Apple Support]. Even if they do agree, I am worried they might charge me for a screen replacement too.

I am not a heavy user at all. My screen time is around 4 to 5 hours maximum per day, mostly just scrolling social media. My goal is to use this phone reliably for the next 3 to 4 years without wasting extra money.

What do you think I should do?

1. Should I return the phone to the seller? Is a previously crashed phone with a third-party screen unsafe or unreliable for long-term use?
2. Should I keep it and get a cheap third-party battery locally? If I get a local battery replacement for around ₹1.5k–2k, will it harm the phone, or can it easily last 3 years for a light user like me?
3. Is a 13 Mini with a third-party screen and a third-party battery worth keeping for the long run?

I’ve used Android phones all my life, but I eventually got sick of how big phones have become. It started to feel like I was carrying a brick around in my pocket.
I’ve always wanted a phone that disappears into my lifestyle. I don’t want to think about it at all. I looked at some Android alternatives like the S10e and the Asus Zenfone 10, and honestly, when it comes to being truly pocketable, none of them can hold a candle to the 13 mini. Sure, they have USB-C ports and headphone jacks, but those are small compromises to me when I consider the size of the 13 mini.
This is my daily driver—not my secondary phone or my banking phone or my camera phone. I use it every. single. day. The battery health is currently at 73%, so it’s probably due for a replacement, but I don’t mind it very much because it keeps me from doomscrolling on social media. I just use it as a phone and not as an entertainment device - that’s why I have my laptop and my T.V. The edges around the cameras are a little chipped, but I couldn’t care less. This is the greatest mobile device I’ve ever owned, and I have no intention of upgrading anytime soon. Sure, the battery can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but you know what they say: beauty is pain. Besides, it’s 2026—I’m never more than a few minutes away from somewhere I can plug it in.

I’ll also probably get a new leather case because my current silicone case has seen better days. But I like it, it’s like when you see a dirty SUV with mud all over it and then you know that the owner is using it as intended and it’s not just a mall crawling suv driven by stay at home moms on their way to get their lattes.

I see people on this sub upgrading all the time, but I’m here to say I’m riding with my 13 mini until the wheels fall off… or at least until Apple releases another mini.

For the start, I know that the mini series wasn’t commercial success and that’s the reason why they ended it.

I’m currently on 13 mini paired with ipad mini 6 and I was wandering why they choosed to release mini iphones yearly instead of using the ipad mini release model (new model every 2-4years). It would be much better becasue people stick with their tech for a while…

I really think that it would be great to release new mini every 4 years because there are people who don’t like big phones (me for example)…

I’m in the state of "I should probably upgrade in next 1-2 years but I don’t really want anything bigger and I don’t want to use android (tried both bigger and android)" So what should I do? Do we start petition to make mini models every 4 years or what? I’d even pay premium for it or they can make the thing where they build and ship the phones when they reach like 100k orders…

I've been using my iPhone 13 mini for quite a while now, and the battery health isn't great anymore. My plan is to keep using it for a little longer and then replace the battery early next year, but I'm not sure if it's really worth it.

It's only the 128GB model, and I'm starting to run out of storage. On the other hand, I've also been thinking about upgrading to a new phone instead.

So currently I have a s21 fe and im planning to sell it once I get an a57. And with the money I get from the s21 fe would want to get a ios device, and i think the 13 mini would be a good choice as a secondary, since my iphone 7 is unusable in its current state. So how good is the 13 mini in 2026?

I've had my 13 mini for over 4 years now, and got my new 17 about a week ago. I had decided to purchase the 17 based on the significant improvements to the display, battery life, the faster chip, cameras (to a lesser extent), but also because of the recent price increases across the board that may be coming to iPhone soon too.

Here's my short review:

• The battery life is the most noticeable improvement for me. I've never replaced anything at all on my mini and right now it's on ~78% health. I had to constantly be thinking about charging my phone because it just drained too fast for my workload (and I don't game or do any sort of CPU intensive stuff, I barely even take photos mostly just social media, emails, messaging). With the 17 it genuinely surprises me how long it lasts and I can absolutely go more than a day on a full charge when before I'd be happy if I could get half a day.

• The cameras are a decent upgrade but I don't take a huge number of photos so I don't care as much personally

• USB C is nice I enjoy only having to think about one type of connector everywhere in my life

• Phones never lagged, frozen or crashed since I got it. I'd say with my mini I'd experience some lag on a daily basis

• Phone hasn't overheated yet. I had a strange problem with Carplay on my mini where it'd get really hot unless I put it in low power mode. Doesn't seem to happen with the 17. Carplay experience is also noticeably smoother.

• Dynamic island is nice, I was using the Sports app during the WC and it's pretty neat

• I hate the size. I cannot for the life of me understand how a 6.3" phone is the acceptable default size for a mobile phone nowadays. I have pretty average sized hands for a male and I absolutely cannot use the thing with one hand without getting annoyed.

• Don't really care about Apple Intelligence

If it was the same form factor as the mini, it'd be perfect. I'll probably continue to use it as my main phone, but I'm gonna carry around the mini with me as well (loaned it out to a friend to try while I get used to my new 17).

I want to change the battery but the back of the phone is cracked and shattered. If i took it to Apple how much would it cost to replace the back and battery?

"People don't want small phones" is a rather simplistic/generalised statement coming from the reviewers and likely Apple themselves.

1. Apple measured demand by SALES and not by actual PREFERENCE
2. Looking at their marketing and price positioning for the mini paints a clearer picture on why it sold less than it should:
   • Mini sat below 100$ USD below the regular iPhone release during launch - naturally, people will see more value in getting the slightly larger phone with longer battery life with that only 100$ difference. After this, the screens just got larger every year. A reinforcing loop.
   • They marketed the standard and pro models more heavily than the mini
   • Battery life limitations became the focal point of the mini, which was improved in the 13 mini.

The death of the mini is not because people do not want small phones; I think we absolutely do. It's the value proposition, marketing, and price positioning of these models that set them up for failure. Now we're all stuck with increasingly big, heavy bricks every year without any solid iOS alternative 5 years on. (we could switch to those flip phones but it won't be the same)

The other hypothesis I have: Apple likely knows people are more engaged with the phone if it has a big screen. Bigger screen = more screen time. Dystopic.

felt like posting this just in case its good for people.. i was about to pull the trigger but apple is replacing mine! the logic board blew out, it gets hot, and wifi/bluetooth died. it totally fails the diagnostic.. but thats my now old phone! hah

Geek Squad broke my phone during battery change and they said they’ll replace it with a new iPhone 13 mini but will arrive in 6 weeks.

The question is, should I just ask store credit so I can purchase the latest model? I will probably have 2 yrs or so for the new mini until it does not update.

I love my 13 mini, I have small hands and they are super comfortable.

What do you guys think?

I have a 13mini 256gb bought new from apple in late 2022 in midnight black, it had a battery upgrade at apple in the last year and it is now on 91%. All in perfect and smooth working order and always had a screen protector and hard case. It has a few scuffs around the camera housing but other than that, no chips or scratches on the screen (original screen), sides OR back.

Im thinking if upgrading and wondering how much I could realistically resell this for (in the UK)? Or would it be better just to trade it in?

Hello 13 Mini friends. I have a ‘new’ 13 mini. I have backed up my old 13 mini. I would like to restore onto the ‘new’. Apple devices recognizes my old 13 mini but not the new. Googling makes it sound like Apple Devices is pretty horrible.

I had my battery changed in geek squad, they broke the screen during repair and replaced it. When I got it back, it’s beyond usable due to constant restart.

Is there a way to back up my files? They said Apple is sending a new iPhone 13 mini but I still need my files back.

Yesterday I went in to get a screen replacement for my iPhone 13 mini that had apple care on it (at an actual Apple Store). They replaced it for free (with a 29 dollar service fee) and told me that the Face ID was failing but it should function fine other than that. They also said they placed an order for a brand new (never used) iPhone 13 mini that was the exact same as my phone and said they would trade it with mine when it arrived since other parts could start to fail too.

I got in the car, noticed the camera wasn’t working. Tried restarting it a couple times and it still didn’t work. I tried to google some stuff but my phone suddenly shut off. My friend was already driving back to my house by this point so I couldn’t turn around (they were close to closing too and I wouldn’t make it back in time since I had a late appointment). I got back to my house and noticed that my phone would shut off every 3-5 minutes while using it. I plugged it into a charger to run diagnostics and diagnostics wouldn’t work at all. I’m pretty sure they messed up the wiring in my phone. So the good news is that I’m getting a new phone. Bad news is I don’t have a phone for the next few weeks till it arrives. I made an appointment for tomorrow so that when I go to trade it in, they won’t claim that I did something to make it much more damaged than it was. It still had iOS 18 on it too. I absolutely hate the way safari looks and functions in the new IOS.
