Does anyone else's husky sleep in their kids playset?

Our husky loves being outside with our other dogs, and I noticed she loves to sleep in our kids' playset and will climb up into the house area where the slide is and take naps up there. She also will jump on our kids' trampoline to look over our fence.

We love this husky to death, but she seems to do this a lot, and no other dog of ours has ever done both of these things. Do any other dogs do this?

Rant Tired of people telling me where my husky should live

Honestly this is just a rant but this has been happening a little too often lately. I live in SF. It’s cold here during the summer. It’s mostly 60s and that’s me being generous about it. It rarely hits 80 and that’s during Indian summer.

Why tf are people telling me my husky shouldn’t be living here.

“Doesn’t she need the cold?” “Isn’t this bad for her?” “Snow dog needs snow” “you’re abusing her by keeping her in this weather” “I get so mad when I see snow dogs in Mediterranean weather”

Do people not realize that summers exist in Alaska Siberia and the Chukchi peninsula? They make it seem like our dogs can’t handle any type of heat.

Edit: SF meaning San Francisco

Rescued Should I night crate train if I plan to let her sleep with us?

5 month- maybe 6 husky mix. She’s cute, has been sleeping through the night, but still needs to master potty training. At first we got lucky and she was just going the first thing in the morning when she got up. Perfect. Then after breakfast. She’s been with us for almost five days now, and the past three have had a lot of accidents inside. We have quiet hours in our neighborhood, and while I do want to crate train her during the day, I wonder if doing so at night would help with the accidents we’ve had recently. I’ve been using natures miracle but she doesn’t even like sneak off sometimes, sometimes she just does it with zero warning, no sniffing/ sneaking, and when she leaves the room and I suspect her, and put her outside and say “go potty” she will SIT there and do nothing. Other times, I walked her on a leash, and she just doesn’t do anything then either, not even sniffs. Idk if I should keep using the leash method, as she’s still getting used to a leash overall, but I really want to nip this in the butt before it becomes a larger issue

General Question Separation anxiety is making me fall out of love

Post image
170 Upvotes

hello all. I need some help, advice or words of understanding. the separation anxiety is breaking me down. I can’t even make it to the mailbox and back without her screaming bloody murder. we’ve been trying crate training, we’ve been trying the walking iut the front door and back in method and we can’t even go 1 second without her freaking out. she’s only in the crate for 2-3 hours at the moment but my husband will be leaving for two weeks and she’ll have to be in there for 8+ hours (our dog trainer said not to try free roaming until the 3 month mark) she’s breaking me down mentally every single day. were at our two month mark and while I love her sooo soo much, I feel like I ruined my life. my freedom is gone, my weekends are gone, I’m embarrassed to look my neighbors in the eye. I know separation anxiety is common in huskies but how do I train her that I’ll be coming back when she can’t even let me out of her sight without losing her mind? A photo of my nightmare so I don’t get lost. (To add, I add lick mats in there when we leave but the moment I step out the door she just lets them melt until we come back home)

Damn the shelter and their “lab mix” LIES!

Okay, not really. I love my walking ball of fluff. But good lord, my poor vacuum.

There are 3 big bowls throughout the house but she prefers the shallow running water.

It's either this, or the nastiest puddle on a hike that she's interested in. No in between lmao. What a goof

General Question 5-6 month potty training

Just adopted my girl this weekend. She did wonderful for the first 48 hours going outside. Now since then, she has had accidents inside twice a day, and sometimes just sits there when we go outside, and doesn’t even pee or poop. I’m trying the leash thing where she’s supposed to sniff and walk in the area I allow, but it doesn’t work. Literally can sit out there for an hour and she won’t go. I have tried taking her consistently in our yard on the leash, and she pees sometimes, but pooping outside has not happened in the last 48 hours. She’s pooped inside four times, just did it again on our bedroom carpet twice, and she also doesn’t use puppy pads. I’d prefer for her to only go outside for bathroom and leisure but she seems to think that outside is leisure and inside is okay to do business. I’ve gently grabbed her scruff, said no, put her nose in it, and she doesn’t like it, but hasn’t stopped. No bathroom signaling while on leash inside either. If I take her off leash, she has tried to sneak away to go, and when I try to redirect to outside, she sometimes doesn’t make it or just goes anyway.

She has been sleeping through the night until now, and I’ve been cleaning for the last hour, thank God for natures miracle, but idk if this will all come out if I’m honest.

In the puppy trenches, please help

General Question Gfs Husky moving in with my cat

Hello everyone, I am sure this post has been made plenty of times, but I am quite cautious about my girlfriend’s dog moving in with us.

For context, my cat’s a bit shy, calm nine year old cat. He lived with my previous dog, a lab, and they got along just fine. Sometimes my dog would chase him, and he would run away and not really do anything about it.

Our husky is a great dog and is friendly with other dogs. When we gave her back to the breeder to look after for a while, the breeder had a cat that she chased around at first, but they eventually ended up cuddling together. However, I have also seen her attack smaller animals, like a hedgehog, which makes me nervous.

My cat obviously means a lot to me. I got him when I was young and going through a hard time, and I genuinely could not stand it if something bad happened to him.
I have heard plenty of both bad and good stories about huskies living with cats. Does anyone have experience with this or any advice on this situation or how to introduce them?

Meeting other huskies

Do you guys think it’s important to them that they meet and bond with other huskies? I have a girl who has been living with poodles since i adopted her.. they really just tolerate each other, nothing friendly but i notice she really wants to meet other dogs, and im wondering if she would especially love it to meet her kind.

Btw if anyone knows of any ways this can be easier? Like husky meetups in California? Theyre not really popular dogs out there, and it can be a little tough or awkward to encounter another dog on a walk.

General Question Huskies and Cats

I know the answer is usually painfully obvious due to their prey drive, but I recently had a situation where my husky found a kitten in our backyard. He didn't attack it, but rushed it, barked, growled loudly but I was able to get him to back away from it. When I had gotten my guy inside, I went back to make sure it wasn't hurt and it had hopped the fence and took off, so I'm assuming no injuries (and the big guy was fine, no scratches).

Has your husky successfully lived with a cat? My boy is still very young, a full grown puppy essentially. He listened to me when I told him to back away and come to me, so I had a brief thought that maybe he could grow to accept or even like a cat.

I am not trying to adopt a cat or force anything. I just want to be prepared if the Cat Distribution System decides to give me a kitty cat.

General Question Slow walks after bath and feeding

My 3 year old husky does this weird slow walk after she eats and just started doing it after being bathed. Any idea what it might be?

She was just at the vet and got a clean bill of health so I assume it is just something she does?
