I'm eating lunch tomorrow with someone in Huddersfield, and I was wondering if there are any good places worth going to?

I'm not from Huddersfield so at this point my best shot is to ask Reddit!

Been looking for a job for a long time now and haven’t been able to find one due to most places wanting people with 2+ years experience which I don’t have?

I was on my way out of the gym (big up gym group!!) today, and as I’m just out the door on my walk home, there’s a car full of grown men sticking their heads out the windows catcalling me while blaring their horn. The day before this, while on my way from my apartment to my gym, a car follows me, parks up ahead of me and the driver gets out, walks up to me telling me how beautiful I am and asks me for my number. And the day before that, I was followed almost the entire way home from a park that I always visit by some man asking me if I live alone and if I can help him find a place to stay?

What???? I am by no means attractive — definitely not to the extent where you should stop your car anyways. But besides that, who in their right mind approaches women like this? In any country I’ve been to I don’t think I’ve felt as unsafe as I do here which is so sad because there is so many lovely people about. I have lived here quite a while and I have been experiencing behaviour like this nonstop the past month or so. Whether it be being followed, or just catcalled.
It’s very discouraging and horrifying as I’m living alone and don’t have any family or friends at all over here. I never have felt unsafe until recently but now it’s beginning to make me worry with the frequency of it. I don’t even know why I’m posting this other than just feeling the need to share it with somebody. Am I going crazy or are people just on one lately? How do you even react to stuff like this or prevent it from happening?

I’m a 19-year-old apprentice from Newsome looking to meet some new people and make a few genuine friendships (strictly platonic).
Being an apprentice means I don’t really have the same social circle as people at uni, and as I don’t really drink much anymore, I don’t tend to meet many new people that way.
I’m into rugby, the gym, walks, and I’m looking at picking the guitar back up. I’m always up for trying something new too, whether that’s grabbing a coffee, going for a walk, playing sport, trying new activities, or just having a laugh.

I recently watched the 1972 documentary about Huddersfield narrated by James Mason. Mason emphasized the strong musical tradition of the town, most notably its prominence in producing world-class choirs, but also in the instruments heard every night coming from inside local homes. I suspect most of that is gone, but I'd love to hear from someone who remembers the Huddersfield of 1972 and who has seen the documentary, Home James. It is nearly impossible to square that documentary with the bad press it has received since.

Hello I just wondered if there was any activities or events going on. It’s beautiful outside and im just stuck at home with nothing to do. I occasionally take myself to town just to get out of the house as I’m not sure what else there is. I only work and stay home. Needing something beyond that. I’m open to anything. I don’t mind trying anything out. If anyone knows of things going on please let me know. It’d be nice to get myself out of the house

I’m not sure if this is allowed but I just wanted to know if any women’s groups In Huddersfield at all. I’ve tried to find things myself not had any luck. Can’t find things on social media and things. So wondered if anyone knew of any.
Please let me know if you know of anything, I’m open to anything. I don’t mind what we do, whether it’s Pilates, yoga, dance groups, arts and crafts clubs, sports. Honestly anything.

I've lived in Huddersfield almost a year now, but I've struggled to make any friendships in the area. I'm wondering if there'd be interest in starting a friend's group for meetups? Or are there such groups already ongoing? I'm 33, female, NOT looking for anything beyond platonic friendships. I don't use any other social media.
