I'm currently staying at a Wombat hostel. They have multiple locations throughout Europe and everything is fine: new, modern, good facilities. They even have their own cafe etc. But i feel the social aspect of European hostels seem.. lacking?
I guess i was spoiled when i went to Hawaii (honolulu) last year and stayed in my first hostel there.
They had a hostel Whatsapp group chat where people could plan things/daytrips together. And everyday there was a partner tour company that did paid (but discounted) tours: e.g. hikes, sunset cruises, pub crawls. There was honestly no lack of social activities everyday and i had a blast
Trying to find hostels with the same vibe in Europe. Are there any like that? I see chains like A&O, Onefam, Generator, but are they just places to sleep?

Hi everyone!
In a few weeks, I’ll be travelling solo for 10 days and visiting Bratislava, Vienna and Split. I’m trying to choose the right hostels and would really appreciate some advice from anyone who has stayed at these places recently.
Since I’ll be travelling alone and spending around 2 or 3 nights in each city, I’m looking for a very social hostel where it is easy to meet other travellers. I would also enjoy a party atmosphere, especially if the hostel organises pub crawls, events or group activities.
For Bratislava, I’m currently considering:
For Vienna, I’m choosing between:
For Split, I’m considering:
Which ones would you recommend for a solo traveller looking for a social and lively atmosphere? I’d also love to hear about the location, cleanliness and overall experience.
Thanks!

Hello everyone,
We are mixed group of 8, 5M and 3F who are travelling and will be staying for nearly a day. We will reach at night and again go to next destination on next day at night 10 train in September. We are very confused with respect to which hostel could be a best choice for us. We are not taking mixed rooms, boys and girls are separate. We are looking for good hostel with good feedback.
If you are aware of any, please let us know.
Thank you in advance.
[If you have 1 day itinerary and good places to eat (we are mixed group both veg and non veg). That would be helpful too.]

Hello reader,
I booked a hostel via hostelworld in Switzerland where I got charged 17euros (debited from my bank account). Next day I received a a cancellation email from their end without stating the reason. How can I confirm whether my booking is still valid or not? And how to get the refund? The customer care emails don’t have any responses neither do the ones to the hostel.
Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks

People who have stayed, how was it?
I’ve never stayed in a branch hostel, only independent ones, not sure what to expect lol
Any info is appreciated! :)

Hi! I’m a 20-year-old solo traveler and I’m looking for hostels with male-only shared dorms.
Do you have any recommendations in Madrid, Barcelona, Kraków, Budapest, Sofia, Prague, and Palma de Mallorca?

Recommendations for hostel in Montreal? Traveling solo but want to socialize and meet new people and ideally do most of the fun activities and tourism with others. Been seeing a lot of recommendations for M Montreal and various others with the name "Auberge" in it
I'd like to meet others ideally and do most/all activities and tours, tourism, etc with others
Any suggestions of how to go about this? It'll be a very last minute trip as I am looking to go between July 27 - Aug 3.
Where do I stay, but also how do I meet people ideally online even before getting there? So that way we have a few social interactions and groups even before we arrive?

Just wanted to let everyone know:
These mafiosos canceled my booking on Hostelworld AFTER I stayed there and did not want to give them a good review. Its the WORST Hostel I have EVER stayed at!!
There was no running WATER 75% of the Time!!!!!!
Since they canceled my booking, I cant give a bad review and thats the reason why this shithole has such a high rating!!!
AVOID AT ALL COST!!! Please share to let everyone know

We are a brand new hostel and will be using ubiquiti pin code access system, basically guest arrives at desk, we ask them for a 4 digit pin and assign it to the main entrance as well as their bunk room by listing them in the lock app with a set to expire time
If a guest plans to arrive after midnight how best to proceed? Just have them email us and send them the pin that way?
When i used hostelworld in the past i would make the deposit and pay the remainder when i arrive at the hostel, but if they arrive after midnight they could just not pay and leave before 9 when reception arrives

My husband (29y) and I (28y) will be backpacking in Portugal in early September. We are social and love to meet new people when we travel... We also like our beer and wine 😂
Any recommendations for hostels in Lisbon and Porto? We were looking at We Hate F Tourists while in Lisbon.
Thanks in advance!

What is the etiquette? My friend was first in the bunk room, and positioned a fan in her corner of the room and went to bed. The fan had been on all day, and through part of the evening while my friend slept. Another guest in the room (in and out SEVERAL TIMES-even after quiet hours ) proceeded to shut off the fan before getting in bed. Not only did she do this, but she laid backwards in her bed so that her phone illuminated towards the room, rather than her bed. Are people really this inconsiderate? It makes me want to turn on the lights tomorrow morning and make all the noises while I pack my bag at 4:30 am

I’m headed to Shkoder with a couple of friends in early September and have booked with The Wanderers Hostel. While in Shkoder I was hoping to do the Valbonë to Theth hike thru The Wanderers Hostel and have emailed them looking to book, however I have not heard back. I emailed them a week ago and I’m starting to worry it may get booked up before I get a response. Would anyone be able to share their experience with their booking process and if they recommend any other ways of contacting them? Would anyone recommend using a different company for the trip?

Hi there! I'll (25M) be traveling to London for 6 days in late december/early january. It's my first time solo traveling and saying in a hostel and I'd like a social hostel. I'm not really a party person, so i wouldn't really like a party hostel.
My two main options right now are Onefam Notting Hill or Urbany. Which one do y'all recommend?
Thanks!

I'm planning to stay in hostels in Ubud and Canggu (Bali) for my upcoming trip in 3 months. Was wondering how it would be like as an asian woman who's in her early 20s? I went through promo videos, reviews, and just looked through pictures on listings in general and it seems to me the general population in hostels is mostly caucasians.
Was planning on staying in hostels mostly to socialize but I'm just a bit worried since it would also be my first time staying in hostels. Would love to hear about anyone's experience. Thanks!

Our group of 3 had booked a stay at Zostel, Puducherry, from 23rd–26th July, but due to some last-minute commitments, we won't be able to make the trip.
We have three beds for three nights in a six-occupancy mixed dorm. If anyone is planning to visit Puducherry on those dates and would like to take over the booking, let me know! The price is negotiable.
DM me if you need more details.

Hi!
Me and my friend want to plan a trip to either prague, budapest or albania but we have a hard time deciding. We really want to just travel, meet some people and have a fun time. I’ve heard that prague and Budapest have good nightlife and are also pretty cheap. On the other hand, we also want to visit albania for the beaches and nature. I’ve heard mixed reviews on the nightlife in Albania so i’m mostly asking if the hostels there are fun and social? Or if there’s any recommendations on good social hostels in Albania so we can get best of both worlds?
