Article I just ported my game to android, then I learned Google is planning this...

Thankfully my game still has good mobile controls when played in web, but this seems kinda baaad

I asked android developer friend, and he said it's not as dire as it seems, but of course google holds control of everything if this change happens, and it could become worse

This website does a good job of explaining the situation, and what you can do to help change it

Discussion Trying to finish a game besides a full-time job feels impossible

I had the wonderful privilege of mentoring a team budding first-time game devs of people who decided to make a game together.

Making a game besides a full-time job, even for a group of people, is a huge challenge. And the first thing I'll say is that you really need to extend your deadlines or realize that you will one way or another.

I think the biggest challenge is keeping a team together despite all of life's ups and downs during that journey of game development because any meaningful game that you want to actually release to the world is going to take longer than you imagine and life has its changes.

If the team can't get along, you know, they shouldn't be making games together. But if they can, it's not really the challenge of getting along, it's the challenge of making a game while having a life to deal with in the background. Job changes, overtime, overwork, burnout, relationships, all of it.

Besides this, during the development they had to watch the whole industry collapse and their potential job prospects disappear from before them. Regardless, they pulled through and they actually finished the game after more than a year.

All together, I'm ridiculously proud of the team for sticking it out and making it through and finishing the game.

If you're going through a tough time right now and would like a cozy game to enjoy, since I know them I can ask them for some keys. Just throw in a comment asking for a key and I'll see what I can do.

If you'd like to support them on their journey, buying a copy and leaving an honest review could make them a huge difference.

I'm wishing you guys all luck on your journey. Feel free to ask any questions!

Help Needed Rogue Racing 3rd public playtest

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I'm a solo dev looking for feedback on a roguelike racing game I've been working on. It mixes Trackmania-style driving (kinda) with Slay the Spire's strategic depth, and TFT's mod mechanics and game progression. (I’m name-dropping to hopefully increase appeal)

Core concept: 8 racers compete in elimination races. Top finishers take health damage. Hit zero HP, get eliminated. Pick car modifiers between races to build synergies. Last racer standing wins.

What I need feedback on:

  1. Is the core racing fun?
  2. Do modifiers feel impactful?
  3. Does the elimination system create tension or frustration?
  4. What made you want to quit/play again?

Playtest details:

  • Time: 25-40 minutes per series
  • Platform: PC (itch.io)
  • Controls: Keyboard/gamepad

Feedback method: Reddit comments / Itch comment

The alpha is free on https://jsavagejs.itch.io/rogue-racing-alpha-playtest, and I desperately need feedback on whether the core loop is actually fun or if I'm delusional. Would love to hear what breaks or what's boring. Any feedback is appreciated

Hey everyone!

Toda is the release day of my first ever game on Google Play — and the feelings are incredible!

I'm a complete beginner in game development, so for my first project I chose the classic match-3 genre but added a mystical esoteric atmosphere to make it unique.

The game features:

-Classic match-3 mechanics with time-based levels

-Smart adaptive difficulty system

-Rank progression system

-3 types of special gems with unique powers

-Daily puzzles with rewards

-Tarot booster cards

-In-game shops

Would really appreciate if you could try it out and leave a review on Google Play!

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.volobuiev.witchcharms

Thanks for your support! 🌸

Note: AI tools were used during development for:

- Generating game artwork, backgrounds and UI elements

- Assistance with game mechanics and code development

All Unity implementation, scene setup, asset integration

and hands-on development work was done by me personally.

Help Needed Made my first game: Draw To Diffuse – here's the trailer!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been working on my first mobile game called Draw To Diffuse.

The goal is simple: draw a line to guide the ball, press the switch, and diffuse the bomb before time runs out. As you progress, the puzzles become more challenging with moving obstacles, tricky physics, and different mechanics.

I'd love to hear your honest feedback on the gameplay, visuals, difficulty, and anything else that could make it better. Thanks for taking a look! 😊play store link

Insperation Aurheir, a browser RPG that is open play testing

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Game Title: Aurheir

Playable Link: https://oldwooddev.itch.io/aurheir

Platform: PC (Web)

Description: What is Aurheir?

Aurheir is an idle autobattler where you build a character, train stats, collect/craft gear, adventuring and stuff normally seen in an RPG.

The loop is simple: train -> loop -> explore -> train

What features are there now:

Some of the current systems include:

RPG stuff:

story to explore, maps for adventures

leveling

character building via attributes & skills

set gears

"other" stuff:

live skills (mining, crafting, and more to be developed)

enhancing (and more to be developed)

idle/incremental stuff:

auto battling

achievements

offline progress

etc..

... and probably more incoming, albeit slowly 😊

Feedback appreciated 🙏:

- New-player flow: Is it clear what to do first?

- Combat and boss progression

- Character building

- Map balancing

- What feels fun enough to keep logging in for

- What feels confusing, slow, too generous, or too punishing

I’ll be around in the comments, and I’m very open to feedback, criticism, and feature ideas.

Free to Play Status: Free to play

Involvement: Hey everyone, I am helping a friend, oldwooddev, to post his game. He is the developer of Aurheir, a browser RPG that is open for playtesting.

He would like to have an RPG that also has adventure, idle, and incremental in it, and maybe some clicker too (being idealised).

The world to design for the game is vast, so I quite want players' feedback early while many things still have not been fixed in place. Bug reports, balance thoughts, and feature ideas are welcomed, anticipated, and appreciated 🙏.

Resource [Free Help Resource] Accessibility Testing

Hi!

It's your friendly neighborhood accessibility tester :)

I'm almost done with the stack of games I was asked to test, and my calendar is looking for more games to cover in the next 2 weeks!

The previously covered games:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLM7JWakugbjM
(No ai was used in the creation of the video. Adobe free tools and Movavi were used. Videos are separated out to be 1x a day to be able to provide statistics upon request. Polished videos are on the way; my first look videos are cuts from my stream.)

I'll play anything except VR (don't have a vr set up), and give as much help as I can on what accessibility options I'd recommend adding or small changes I'd make to open the game up to more people, expanding the reach of your game!

THIS IS FREE! and will always be free, this is a passion of mine!

(I specify demos, I do this as a disabled person to help other people find games that have accessibility options as well as developers see what could be helpful to be open to a wider audience, and twitch pays out roughly every 3 months, so I am not in a position to buy all games, though will work my way thru as I can.)

Where the game or demo will be featured:

I prefer steam games, just as I am cautious and internet security, though if there is a launcher or in internet browser, I'm happy to work with that as well. Otherwise, chat with me, and I'll see what I can do!

If you'd like stat photos from all but the secondary team channel, please lmk, I have direct access to those. I can get the team channel, but it might take me a few days to ask the head of the team to send me a photo.

If you don't want to post here, my email is [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) , feel free and pop me an email! Discord is catlover09398, that is an option as well :)

Help Needed [DEV] I spent the last month improving my jigsaw puzzle game based on your feedback. I'd love more testers!

Thumbnail play.google.com
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

About a month ago I shared my first Android game, Pixle, here. Several people gave me useful feedback, and I've spent the last few weeks fixing bugs, improving the gameplay and polishing the experience.

I'm looking for a few more people who enjoy jigsaw puzzles to try the latest version and share their honest feedback.

I'm especially interested in hearing:

  • Did anything feel frustrating?
  • Did you encounter any bugs?
  • What would make you keep playing?

Thanks to everyone who helped improve the game already. Every bit of feedback has made Pixle better.

Lien jouable : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kapinfo.dopsarcandezombies

Plateforme : Android (mobile)

Statut Free to Play :

[x] Free to play

Participation : Développeur solo — conception du jeu, code (Godot 4 / GDScript), direction artistique,

intégration audio et publication sur le Play Store. C'est mon premier

jeu publié.

Seeking Mentorship So I had this idea for a game a decade ago... TapMonkeys

Here's my original link: https://www.reddit.com/r/incremental_games/comments/35yv1b/tapmonkeys/

Technically I had a free demo at the time, so I hope it's still ok to post. I'm back and leveraging AI to bring this idea to life in Godot. Before you go and hate the latest AI project, this is really a learning experience for me as I've never touched Godot or conventional game development before, and I'd love to engage with the community as I build.

I outlined most of my ideas in the original post, but I'm sure I'll have new ones as I develop and I'd love to hear your thoughts as well!

Help Needed Would you enjoy playing Rock-Paper-Scissors with your virtual pet? Should we add this mini-game, or would you prefer we skip it? 👀🛠️

Post image

We're making a cozy virtual pet game where you'll raise your pet, build a small farm, work different jobs, and decorate your home.

We also want to add mini-games that you can enjoy together with your pet. Right now, we're experimenting with ideas like basketball, trampolines, and darts.

The designs are still a work in progress, so the visuals will change as we continue refining them.

Would these kinds of mini-games interest you? What other mini-games would you like to play with your pet? 🐾

Help Needed I need your backup

Hi everyone,

I released my first mobile game "Trash to Coin" on Google Play Store, and need some feedback.

About the game:

In Trash to Coin, you don't just run to get a high score. You collect objects on the track, survive the obstacles, and then take your stash to your factory.

The core loop is simple but satisfying:

• Run & Survive: Fast-paced swiping mechanics to dodge walls.

• The Factory: Convert your collected objects into coins.

• The Shop: Upgrade your conversion formula and buy new items.

Note: I focused on coding and game mechanics, I leaned on store assets for the 3D models to keep the project moving.

It's all free to play.

Article Making a phone typing game playable meant treating the keyboard as half the screen

I'm building WorkRush, an Android survival game where office memos keep piling up and you clear them by typing.

The hardest part was not the word system. It was the phone keyboard. My first version looked fine on desktop, then the keyboard hid most of the playfield and made even level 1 exhausting. I rebuilt the HUD around the remaining screen space, slowed the opening pace, and added support memos that give AI auto-processing, cleanup, slowdown, shields, and extra capacity. The run still gets hectic, but the useful skills now change how long you can survive instead of only adding score.

The game is free on Android and supports Korean and English:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.memosurvival.app

For anyone who tests it on a phone, the most useful thing to know is whether the first minute feels tense or simply tiring.
