Mod Post Major change to the rule 5

So recently the other mods and I have been discussing the rule 5 and what would fall under it, initially the rule was meant to avoid controversial topics to make it easier for us to moderate and keep things civil specifically religion and politics.

The issue is specially with the increase in the mod team it started being used to remove anything that could be deemed in any way controversial or political, which included things like discussing lgbtq+ topics, topics about gender, race, etc. which we did not feel was fair, what one defines as being "controversial" can end up being influenced by the mods own biases and discomforts, so from now on we agreed that instead of removing anything controversial we will only be removing posts and comments specifically about politics and not political subjects themselves.

Discussions about social issues are allowed. Discussion about political parties, politicians, elections, legislation, government policy, or religion is not.

Just to make it clear what this means, a person can now hate how queer people are perceived, hate misandry or misogyny, etc.
What you cant do is hate on any demographic or talk about these topics through a political lense itself, hating transphobia itself its fine, hating transphobic parties, politicians, etc is not.

Keep in mind that if a topic becomes too prevalent in this sub it might get restricted just like we did with TADC for example, and if a post becomes a particular headache to moderate it might get locked(comments wont be able to be posted), the nature of moderating a subreddit with as broad a topic as ours dictates some level of flexibility when dealing with these topics and a case by case analysis of them. In a same way punishments will range depending the level of the infraction as they always have.

Additionally rule 1 and 2 are still a thing and should be followed, if in the example i gave above a commenter went to say transphobic talking points in the comments or attack the demographic itself, they will get banned.

If you previously had a post removed under Rule 5 for discussing a general social issue, don't assume it would still be removed under this version of the rule. Many posts that were previously removed under Rule 5 would now be allowed, so please don't let past experiences with the old version shape your expectations of the new one.

Also this rule change has happened 2 days ago but we only got to making the announcement post today.

Mod Post I hate when people report the auto moderator messages!

Do you know how exhausting it is to open the mod queue for this subreddit and see our own AutoMod comments being reported like they personally offended someone? I swear, every time I check the reports tab, there’s another notification that someone has flagged the literal bot for “breaking a rule.” The bot. The automated message. The thing that exists solely to tell you which rule you broke.

And the funniest part is that people report it like it’s some kind of secret. Like we won’t see it. Like the report goes into a void where the mods never look and the universe magically corrects itself. No. We see everything you report. Every single one. It shows up right there in the queue with the same priority as actual issues, and then we get to click into it and discover… surprise! Someone got mad at AutoMod for doing its job.

It’s honestly wild how many users think reporting the bot is going to undo their rule violation. AutoMod didn’t “misunderstand” you. It didn’t “target” you. It didn’t wake up and choose violence. It matched a pattern. That’s literally all it does. If you triggered it, that’s on the content, not the robot.

So please, for the love of everything smug and cursed on this subreddit, stop reporting the bot. Report actual problems. Report rule‑breaking posts. Report harassment. Don’t report the automated message that just told you what went wrong.

We’re tired. Let the bot live.

General I hate how some people are obsessed with the n-word. And I hate this photo sooo much too.

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

I'm struggling to understand why the person behind this photo think they're being funny? Honestly.. ew have some shame.

I hate the n-word humor, like why would anyone be giggling or finding someone saying the n-word funny? Please grow up. Those people are acting like a toddler spamming a cuss word they just heard. And yes it's THAT DEEP.

Really simple, if you're not black don't use it. Also, There's nothing such as a pass or whatever. Not to mention how cringe is "can I get the pass?" Joke.

. . . . .

EDIT: whoever think the n-word is funny or whatever was said about justifing the use of it because: "it's restricted" or the "Forbidden fruit..."🙏 Then sorry, you're just a toddler crying after their mama told them 'dont do that'. Grow up, have some respect and shame, girl.

EDIT 2: for everyone justify the use of the n-word because black people also use. YOU ARE MAD that black people are putting some BOUNDARIES and aren't INVITING YOU to the party. As I said nothing the phenomenon of it's being forbidden doesn't justify nothing. If a friend Openly prohibited you or established a boundary then you respect it you don't go act like a stubborn offended kid.

Edit 3 cuz why not?: black people using the n-word and gatekeeping it for themselves shouldn't piss you off more than real rascim, period. This edit for whoever think they're being a genius criticizing black people using the n-word instead of actually confronting the real racists.

I hate the way it treat the holocaust and the Jews in it like they are not enough to be the victims so we need to sympathize with the Nazis, I hate the fact it acts like German didn't know and didn't have a part in it and it was just those in the higher places who knew about it, I hate that it's a lot of people knowledge of the holocaust and that it's a movie where the sad part show a nazi who responsible for millions of Jews death being sad when it happens to his own son, I hate that Bruno is a dumbass who doesn't actually care for his friend and never care to actually ask him about his life cause the movie need him not to know what's happening there, I hate this movie so much

literally HALF of the posts that i saw throughout this world cup were people saying stuff like "Bread and circuses and they'll never revolt" and "people dying, and you care bout FIFA" said by some person who thinks that anyone that feels entertained by something is bad and that they don't care about bad things occuring across the world, and that THEY are sooo special for being "aware" or something

Seriously, its like the new "Man this food tastes bad" "well wont you think of the starving in poor countries???"

Comics first and probably the only time i'll post here, but i had to get this off my chest. i HATE peni parker's post-spiderverse personality.

Post image
426 Upvotes

in the original comics, peni was a hardened child soldier with a heavy burden on her shoulders due to being bonded with sp//dr, and as such, she was a quiet and serious person due to the trauma that came with becoming its pilot. perfect for a character who's story and concept is based of evangelion. her story is genuinely tragic, and i heavily recommend you read her comics to know more about who she was originally.

into the spiderverse saw all that and threw it into the trash. now she's a stereotypical anime girl who throws japanese words inbetween normal english sentences, that has a cutesy relationship with her mech instead of, you know, A CHILD SOLDIER WHOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH HER MECH IS A HEAVY SOURCE OF TRAUMA AND BURDEN FOR HER? luckily they sorta (key word: SORTA) fixed this in across the spiderverse by incorporating aspects of peni's original comics trauma when she re-appeared for a moment, but still, what they did to her in the first movie was CRIMINAL.

also, is it me, or does peni's portrayal in into the spiderverse feel like it's overly romanticizing japanese culture? peni is *japanese-american*, and was raised in *new york*, not japan. yet the movie only put emphasis on the *japanese* part of her heritage by giving her that japanglish quirk and all those stereotypical shonen tropes to her portrayal. people with mixed heritage deserve to get **both** their upbringings portrayed and acknowledged with the respect they deserve. and they didn't do that with peni for the sake of "look, anime!". fucking hell man.

worst part of all is that due to the spiderverse movies' success (as much as i love them, this is one of the bad things that came with it), it's very likely we won't get peni's original personality back, since both rivals and tokon peni's personalities borrow aspects from her spiderverse movie self and not her original comic self.

**justice for peni parker. she deserves better.**

Anime & Manga I hate the Lucky Star fandom and the main sub for it.

Someone probably has said this before but I hate how people sexualize literal highschoolers just because they aren't real. They are still minors (about 17) and look way younger than they do, which makes this worse. I unfortunately encountered one of those people (in the image) and I kept asking why they thought it was okay but kept dodging the question.

General I hate it when reddit mods ban you then permanently mute you when you ask why

Thumbnail
gallery
498 Upvotes

NOTE: this has never personally happened to me but it has notably happened to some friends of mine

it's honestly a feature that is heavily misused.

It should ALWAYS in my opinion be a "last resort", because once someone is permanently muted, they will NEVER have a chance of appeal from that point onwards.

I completely understand why mods would use it in certain, extreme situations

but It's become way too common for mods to just ban, then permanently mute someone. which is honestly quite unfair to those people because they don't even get to explain themselves

I've known people that have been wrongly banned, and since they were muted the moment they tried to appeal, they will never be able to justify themselves and basically have to not be a part of that sub anymore.

And all it takes, is one bad mod with poor judgement to essentially exile you from a whole community with no chance of redemption for the rest of your life.

that's honestly too severe.

That doesn't even consider that people change. People make mistakes, and people learn from those mistakes. it's how the human brain works. but giving no second chances? it achieves nothing, it doesn't give people room to grow, it doesn't even teach them anything, it just makes them feel terrible and hateful, they are even more likely to go and harass others after that.

so, yeah. Perma muting in my opinion should only be used in the most extreme circumstances, and I hate how it's become so normalized on this site for mods to to just perma mute anyone that tries to appeal a ban via modmail

please don't take any of this as a personal attack, mods, the images are jokes

Thumbnail

(Just before i start, no these two above aren't **My** hear me outs specyficly, i'm just using them as an example in the thread)

I swear to a God, this whole term lost its meaning, and now is only used by most bassic gooners to somehow make their gooning habbits more "original" or more meaningfull so they don't feel like they wasted their life on this shit. These people go all around saying the same shit about how finding an dangerous eldritch alien or other monster (often sexualised in fanarts anyway) attractive is somehow controversial or makes them different nowdays... but when someone DARES to show an actual hear me out, aka character who's just... wierd as fuck to pick as a "fictional crush" they ussualy act as if that person is insane and should be ashamed, even thought they are kinda on the same boat

It mostly pisses me off because of how boring this whole thing got, and like when you expect to see actual funny or wierd takes, you get the same pale chicken with rice nearly all the time

and like even if you scroll down it doesnt show you anything modern.. like show me like an ishowspeed gif or something at least

Art & Fanworks i hate people's obsession with giving bald roblox characters hair

Thumbnail
gallery
400 Upvotes

look, i think the art is neat and all, what bothers me is that people just kinda make their hair the exact same color as their skin, so sometimes it just looks they added a bart simpson-esque hair puff because they didn't wanna draw them bald

this could work, i like when its executed and it fits, but usually the hair doesn't even look nice on them, its kinda just a big curly puffy hairstyle that doesn't actually fit them and makes them look like a generic e-boy

like, no dude, Builderman wouldn't have medium lenght well kept silver hair, he would at most have a buzzcut or something since hes a construction worker and you'd have to do a LOT of effort to shampoo your hair damn near every day from being in the sun and sweating all day, people really draw him without having the "builder" part in mind, he just kinda looks like a pretty boy with a construction hat on

again, the art is neat, and you can do your own interpretations of these avatars if you want, i like these when they're done well, but it kinda feels like people aren't creative enough when doing these and just kinda wanna add hair so it looks nicer without thinking outside the box much

It makes me SO peeved off every time I see one of these. They always have the same dribble about imagination and "shaping YOUR story". When. Really. It's the chat bot doing all the work.

Image wise, it's either the corniest looking character or just straight goonbait.

It's so blooming annoying to get bombarded with these when all they do is make me roll my eyes at the lame attempt at getting itself out there.

(We're really wasting precious resources on data centres.. For this?

Thing I hate Moistcritical's content

Post image
Upvotes

I really dont understand why he's so popular. You would think he would do way more in his videos considering his fame, but his content is just so basic and repetitive. His videos are always titled something like "this situation is crazy" or some other vague bullshit. I dont understand how 18 mil. people are subscribed to him. There are so many content creators that do way more with way less subscribers. He gets praised like crazy for doing the bare minimum. His opinions are so weak, hes too scared to say anything other than "bad thing is bad". I hate when he talks negatively about a bad content creator and people act like hes the only reason that content creator got cancelled, they act like he defetead the Antichrist. Moist critical, more like fence sitical.

So obviously the mask on its own is just a harmless cool looking fashion item.. but I can't ignore and hate the fact that it has eventually been adopted by some of the most disturbing coms and linked to the most horrific events imaginable

Now edgelords and weird online fandoms wear this stupid mask to appear tuff and intimidating for shock value purposes but it's genuinely just corny af 💔 so now whenever I see a person wearing this shit ass mask I'm like oh boy please stay tf away from school zones 😭

Comics I hate these specific Joker lines

Thumbnail
gallery
5.7k Upvotes

To consider how evil and dangerous Joker is considered in the canon, obviously Joker would do worse. So these kind of lines feel more like "the author's speech of what he/she endorse" rather than the speech coming from Joker, and It's so cringe.
Because, in my opinion, that kind of vulgar expression of the author kills the magical illusion of fictions.

Gaming Hate how the Deltarune Fandom is getting so comfortable with casual racism.

Thumbnail

EDIT:These are not instances of 'casual' racism with the exception of the third example. The first two are blatan. I apologize for misusing the term.

The first two are pretty straight forward, right? But you may not get why the last one upsets me. I'll explain. Really briefly.

The last one is based off of the racial stereotype that poc have to act a certain way and that only white people can do/say certain things.

Hopefully this isn't too heavy for this server. If so, I apologize to the mods for it.

Meta I hate when this sub beats a dead horse

Post image
Upvotes

Alright, I get it, if a lot of people hate something there's going to be a lot of posts about it. But do we really need multiple posts for the same thing? If you want to add additional hate then make a comment under an existing post. Or find another thing to hate to add to the variety of the sub. The thing I love about this place is that there are so many niche things people hate that I never would have heard of, and that variety is why I love this sub so much.

General These types of arguments/comments

Post image
Upvotes

"wow you like B over A ? You must be crazy or ragebaiting or something because that doesn't make any sense to me !"

What ? Just because my tastes aren't completely and exactly the same as yours means that my opinion is "wrong" ? No it ain't

Objectively arguing about subjective opinions is the stupidest thing I have ever seen on the internet and it happens a LOT.

"I like this character more than the other one !"

"Are you crazy ?!?!"

"I like Song A more than Song B !"

"Ragebaiting"

"Bro this guy didn't put Thing A in the SSS rank, this tier list must be a shitpost/ragebait"

It's something you see all the time and it's the stupidest thing ever !

Please people, stop arguing objectively on subjective things.

(Unless you bring up the argument of someone liking actually horrible stuff/people, then yeah I get the argument, but simply just having an opinion different than yours so you start arguing with them ? Well that's just wrong isn't it ?)

Books I hate how recently, every popular book, especially fantasy, is smut

Post image
Upvotes

God forbid I want to read something without a needless and graphic sex scene. Usually doesn’t have any major effect on the plot either.
I picked up fourth wing because it had dragons on it and guess what? PORN. My friend recommended lightlark specifically because i said i didn’t like smut. Guess what? PORN. Almost every modern fantasy novel I’ve read in the past few years has been porn. Now, I have to Google if a book is smut because they don’t even always put the content warnings in the beginning.
I blame booktok for the trend of every book needing to be “spicy”. I just want to read a cool fantasy book with some cool female characters and maybe a romance subplot. But they always end up FUCKING

Disclaimer: I don’t care if ppl like reading erotica with a plot. Go for it. It’s just not my thing and it’s getting so hard to avoid.

Gaming I like and play rivals, but some of the characterisation are just truly awful

Thumbnail
gallery
1.0k Upvotes

Moon Knight:

Arguably the worst adaptation in the game. They consistently prioritize the memes over his actual comic counterpart which are very out of character, and sometimes they protray his DID as a joke.

And even his game play is out of character, why is the man who wears white so people see him comeing the one who stays in the backline?

I’ll give them credit though that their portrayal of Khonshu, with the limited voicelines he has when playing moon knight and the marvel zombies stuff, is legitimately pretty on theme and well done. Although netease seems to like taking stuff from the MCU show for characterization so it’s not that surprising Khonshu was made pretty well.

The Punisher:

"You know what I hate? Nuance", kinda of just sums it up, he's just a trigger happy freak, and not in the way he's supposed to, in what world would he insult Captain America of all people? Or threatening Sue storm?!

He acts like what people think franks acts, who don't actually know who the Punisher is.

General I FUCKING hate being autistic with very high likelihood of also having adhd

Post image
99 Upvotes

All these sad childhood experiences where I was misunderstood, disconnected from the rest, and even bullied. Always being in some way told that I'm faulty and not understanding myself despite knowing that i am "autistic", in the process feeling inferior. Then having gasoline added to the fire of my trauma by losing a loved one who lead me through life, at the age of 16.

Autism, adhd, and now depression. Going from being one of the "smartest" kids out of my primary school class, to struggling academically the most out of my college year. Being forgetful and losing my wallet once every fucking month because of adhd. Not being able to focus on something without going completely insane over it to the point where I forget to eat, or fuck up my sleep schedule. Not even being able to focus on my workout and get stronger at the gym because I'm always overstimulated as fuck from the sheer existence of other people, or getting overstimulated from every stranger passing while I'm just SHOPPING. Struggling to make friends because of past trauma and the fear that people hate me. Feeling like I'm less valuable than the rest because I have a disability.

I want a cure asafp. Image unrelated I just wanted to add something don't mind that

Thing I hate this new statue (from an artistic perspective)

Thumbnail
gallery
3.4k Upvotes

Firstly, my reasons for hating this statue are not political. This sub isn’t for hating on real people, and my disdain for it isn’t due to the person it’s based on.

For one, the proportions here are extremely messed up. His torso is way too short, and his legs are way too long. It just makes him look freaky.

Secondly, the way the statue is colored looks abysmal. Keeping the bronzed metal skin tone while painting his eyes and clothes makes it look like he’s just a dude covered in metallic spray paint, which isn’t appealing in the slightest.

These little decisions just make the entire statue look really strange, like a Still Life from the Backrooms in a sense. The fact that this went through the entire production process without anyone realizing how bad it looks is baffling to me.

Oh yeah, also no one is buying it for the artist’s price of $100,000. That’s a steep price for a statue that looks like this.

(ALSO MODS THIS IS NOT POLITICAL, I’M JUST SAYING THAT DON’T LIKE THE STATUE)

Corporation/Company I hate age restriction everywhere

Post image
858 Upvotes

Today got heavily disappointed by reddit requiring age verification. Youtube, twitter, all of them.
Just to make things clear, I do understand why companies began to do this, but I’m not comfortable with providing such important and private information with a company that already has a lot of data about me. Additionally, this system works through ass, I don’t think it’ll work for a long time, people will just learn how to surpass it.
Idk, maybe I’m just complaining a lot, but it’s really annoying.
