Gwentfinity Voting Council - 16 Jul, 2026 - Monsters

Members of the Council, welcome to our weekly assembly.

These posts are scheduled to happen every week. Each week, a different faction is proposed and every time we will try to orient the discussion about either "nerf" or "buff".

Faction of the Week: Monsters

While you can still use these topics to talk about other balance suggestions, please try to focus on the theme of the week. Those topics are intended to give a chance to all factions to be talked about.

Discussions can be about modifying a whole archetype or addressing individual cards.

Question Newboy's Newcomer Monday!

Newboy looks sadly at his talisman. "Oh well, this doesn't help at all..."

Welcome to the latest Monday Newcomer Thread, where you the community get to ask your questions and share your knowledge. This is an opportunity for the more experienced Gwent players here to share some of your wisdom with those with less expertise. This thread will be a weekly safehaven for those "noobish" questions you may have been too scared to ask for fear of downvotes but also can be a great place for in-depth discussion if you so wish. So, don't hold back, get your game related questions ready and post away, and hopefully, someone can answer them!

What you can do to help!

This is a weekly thread, meaning it will be posted once a week. Checking back on this thread later in the week and answering any questions that have been posted would be a huge help!

If you're trying to ask a question, the more specific you are, the better it is for all of us! We can't give you any help if we don't get much to work with in the first place.

Discussion Worth coming back?

I have a big fan of this game and played it for a while but stopped when CDPR decided to stop supporting it a few years ago.

Im wondering if it's worth getting back into it. Does this game still get support and is the community still engaged?

How does balancing work? I appreciate your answers!

Both of these games will feature gwent as a minigame, do you think REDs will do anything about standalone game because of this?

Discussion 📆 Daily Card Discussion - Giant Boar

Giant Boar

Beast (Skellige)
4 Power, 6 Provisions (Epic)

Deploy (Melee): Boost self by 1 for each damaged unit.
Deploy (Ranged): Boost self by the amount a unit is damaged.

Most men, seeing a massive boar in the woods, mess their trousers and scurry up the nearest tree. A Skelliger, though - he just drools.

Discussion Good Impact Council #18 - Your Shortlist Of 7 Buffs

Finding cards which deserve a buff is no challenge. Picking ones which would make you want to play the game in the following season is harder.

If the next balance council was limited to only one buff per faction (no other buffs in the game) + one neutral... what would be Top 7 buffs you'd like to see? Similarly to the previous edition I'd like you to answer this post only with your Top7s (+preferably explanation). I invite mods to remove comments violating this convention. Then particular Top7s are discussed below them.

I'd put down mine as a comment too. Have fun!

Discussion Question for the Scoia'tel players

So i've been playing dwarf pointslam in one form or another for over 3 years now. I recently completed my scoiatel collection, and tried playing a few (10-12) games with a newer card that i just crafted [[Eudora Breckenriggs]]. I figured she would be worth testing with since i had seen a few dwarves on the ladder running her.

And no. I'm unimpressed. I tried multiple different configurations. More pointslam. More bodies. Different engines. Less dwarf (not proud of that idea).

So....am i missing something?

Question Invasion of bots or coincidence?

Just played a second game one after the other where the opponent forfeited due to a broken connection. It's Curious that both opponents had no avatar, had title "Cardsmith" had relatively new profiles with about 100 wins focused on one faction - Skellige and NR. Forfeited after about 5 cards in the first round. I found it strange.

Question Anyone got any good/fun Henry decks?

Title. Don’t play much Nilfgaard really but Henry var Attre seems like a really fun concept. I saw some Shupe lists a while back, but I know a ton of the cards in those decks got power/provision nerfs since then (somebody hates fun).

Anybody got a good list, Shupe or non-Shupe? Doesn’t have to be super competitive, just want to play to have fun and win sometimes with fun strategies.

Discussion Chat gpt balance council suggestions

Curious what everyone thinks lol

Provision Buffs (-1 Provision)

Anna Henrietta – Powerful design that's still too expensive for the payoff.

Geralt: Aard – Interesting control option that rarely justifies its cost..

Mercenary Contract – Has archetype potential but is consistently edged out by more efficient options.

Power Buffs (+1 Power)

Cynthia (Nilfgaard) – Makes her much less punishing to commit.

Blueboy Lugos (Skellige) – Easier to stick without dramatically increasing his ceiling.

Dunca (Scoia'tael) – A small survivability buff helps an underplayed engine.

Provision Nerfs (+1 Provision)

Tainted Ale – A neutral that's simply too efficient across many decks.

Mutagenerator – Still creates too much value relative to its cost when built around.

Temple of Melitele – Extremely high long-term value for its provision investment.

Power Nerfs (-1 Power)

Reaver Scout – Slows snowballing without killing the archetype.

Nauzicaa Sergeant – Reduces early tempo while keeping its role intact.

Borsodi Brothers (whichever one is currently seeing the most competitive play in your meta) – A small tap down rather than a provision hit.

Discussion Meditating Mages decks help needed

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello guys. I also got back to Gwent, getting rid of other CCGs for a while. I met an opponent, using this kind of deck, when he just left 6-7 bronze mages on the table from the second round to the final. So, I liked this deck. Tried to make my own, but struggle. Any Suggestions? I also wanted to add Donimir from Troya, but have a shortage of my resource to craft it

At the start of the game, increase the base power of all units in your deck by 14 minus their provisions.

I’m not the best I’m sure. I don’t know much about MMR and I’m looking to get better. I’m at rank 13 highest of 12. I got 60 cards from each faction. I really don’t know what I’m doing but man is this fun. Is this good?

Discussion 📆 Daily Card Discussion - Eternal Eclipse Initiate

Eternal Eclipse Initiate

Human, Cultist (Nilfgaard)
3 Power, 5 Provisions (Common)

Order: Infuse a bronze enemy unit with "Whenever your opponent plays a Cultist, damage self by 1. Deathwish: Spawn a base copy of self on the opposite row, Infuse it with the Cultist category, then set its power to the number of Cultists your opponent controls".

The air of mystery, the promise of power - enough to obtain a whole set of pawns for your chessboard.

Discussion My Balance of the Month: Mutated Hounds

Every month, I’m going to be pushing and advocating for a single card to be set to a specific power and provision. I’ll be announcing what I’m advocating at the beginning of every month (since it’s my first time doing this month, I’ll start right now).

TLDR, I’m pushing to get Mutated Hounds to 3 power and 4 provisions. Read on to see my justification.

For my first month, I’m going be advocating for the balance of [Mutated Hounds] in the syndicate faction. Mutated Hounds currently stands at 6 power and 5 provisions. Being a salamandra player myself, I’ve found the power of this unit to be odd. It has a lot of bulk and an additional armor to keep it on the field, but with a deploy ability, there’s no real reason to want to keep it on the field anyways

As a comparison, take a look at [Van Moorlehem Hunter] in the Nilfguard faction. This unit stands at only 3 power and 4 provisions. Mechanically, these two units behave similarly; both have two deploy abilities, determined by what row it’s played on. Both can cause bleeding if put on melee. Hunter inflicts lock on ranged, while hounds inflict poison. Hunter sees much more play than hounds. Even taking into account how often each faction is played, as a salamandra player myself, I usually don’t add hounds to my deck when there are cheaper options to poison targets. At four provisions, we will finally have a salamandra unit that can inflict poison without a 4 coin fee.

Since this unit stands at 3power ABOVE the target I’m suggesting, this will likely be a balance that will take place over many months. Still, it’s hard to find a lot of good units that can stand for a good power nerf, so I think this has a good chance if multiple people band together to make it happen.

Let me know your thoughts.

Deck Help with ST Elves Ambush deck!

Hi all! As the title says, I'm looking for some help from the hive mind on ways to either improve the Scoia'tel Deadeye Ambush deck I've been running. I've been out of Gwent since like 2018, but jumped back into it this month. I've made it to Rank 3, but can't quite get a consistent enough run to hit rank 2.

I basically built an all-elf deck when I started back up and kinda lucked into some stuff that's worked pretty well for me so far. My general play is playing round 1 as set up, using The Heist to play Angus and Vanadain to pump up deadeyes and waylays. If I'm lucky and I've drawn the sapper, I can use it to play angus or Vanadain a 3rd time.

I really focus on drawing into threats in round 2, especially Simlas to use the 6-8 waylays in the deck. That's generally enough to win through round 2. Then I will generally pop The Heist again in round 3 to generate a crapton of Deadeyes and double pump Vernossiel/Isengrim.

I know some of the issues I'm currently running into are experience-related (just not recognizing what cards I need to take out, etc). I'm particularly noticing that I'm having trouble dealing with some of the boost NR decks and boosting Monsters decks. I'm not really sure how to keep up with them!

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!

sorry for crappy screenshots

Question If I don't have enough banish cards against Madoc. Can I try and outscore their deck?

I run only 2 banishes in my deck. This guy had at least 3 or 4.

If I can't banish them all, what is the best plan against them?

Win R1 and try and outscore them in R2?

I couldn't keep up, I don't really know how to counter this deck?

Discussion At what point do you think a player will hit a wall without more or less following the meta?

I've recently been playing a lot of Gwent after having tabled it for years shortly after initial release. I've gone into it mostly blind and have been developing decks based off my own evaluation of synergy between cards and the strategies I've witnessed so far. However, it seems like once I moved my season rank from 30 to around 25 (though it's probably more related to my overall MMR, honestly), I've had a lot more difficulty winning any matches without getting "perfect" draws. My win rate moved from about 80% to more like 40%, and I regularly run into players running 1-2 essentially identical decks based on the faction.

Have I already hit a wall that only strict adherence to the meta can allow me to move past? Do you have any advice for a newer player trying to stay creative and not just follow the meta?

Deck Can anyone help me with my current ST move decks?

One is more basic themed, while the other is a Witcher experimental deck im working on.

Im on my 5th loss streak and wouldnt mind some feedback on what I can improve.

Ive lost to two frost decks, two Northern Realm decks with one focusing on Reavers and one focusing on pure boosting and lost to a Skellige Pirate deck.

I really like what Im trying to build with the synergy between the cards that moves each other, specifically using Dol Blathanna as the main engine on ranged row, supported by Matron and/or Cat Witcher, with my win conditioning being Gaetan to finish it off, by moving as many units as possible and Gezras to damage and boost units towards the end.

Question Help with deciding to mulligan cards that boost passively?

For example a card like Morvudd or Regis: Reborn where they are worth low points at the start of R1 but will be worth a lot at R3.

If I pull that card R1, am I better off holding onto it R3 or mulligan the card and taking the risk of trying to pull it R3?

What do you guys do with cards like that?

Deck Help with my Firesworn deck

Post image
8 Upvotes

First time using a Firesworn deck. What is this deck missing? It seems like this is just a boost deck? Very one dimensional. Any suggestions for more win conditions while trying to stick as close to the Firesworn theme as possible? I named the deck, Keepers of the Eternal Fire.
