what are the best drives (in your opinion) to go after reverbs (ofc, delays count too) for shoegaze sounds?

i know there's plenty of specialized reverb/drive double pedals and such, but I'd like to put the emphasis on *classic*, basic circuits, and standalone drive pedals.

[edit: had swapped a "after" for a "before" here, sorry, my bad. changed it back as what it was intended] also, which is "better", after a reverb? OD, distortion or fuzz?

(i know, nothing is objective here, i would just like to know your opinion and experiences)

Finally found one of these for a decent used price - an interesting amalgamation of slapback, chorus, and vibrato. Kind of hard to pin down exactly what it's doing, but it just sounds nice.

I dont really use pedals much aside from a boost and noise suppressor. Put this board together out of boredom and I’m digging it. I’m getting great tones boosting both the metal zone or carcosa. Most of these pedals work very well together. I especially enjoy the combo of the POG + PS3.

Signal chain: A guitar -> Maxon st9pro+ -> EHX POG -> Boss Metalzone -> DOD Carcosa -> Ibanez SF10 -> EHX Canyon -> Boss Super Chorus -> DOD FX96 -> Boss PS3 -> Ampeg V4 -> Marshall 1960 cab

It's like every non-octave fuzz. I'm not even a big fuzz person. I have a bunch of fox tone machine clones I've bought/made. I've built a few Pi clones for the sake of learning, but other than that I only have 2 cheap fuzzes (cloven hoof, maestro fuzz) I got from a local garage sale and I hardly use them. Found this on local FB marketplace for $120 and the art alone made me pull the trigger and I'm not disappointed. Absolutely adore the fact the bias are knobs so I can tune it by ear. Love playing with bias knobs on transistors to get sputterimg sounds. So versatile. The clean boost blend? Amazing. Absolutely fantastic pedal. The v2 took away the bias knob and LPF knob for some reason, but still just the rest of the dials alone are great. So tuneable, maybe tricky for live sound, but for recording having every non-octave fuzz in a box is so nice.

Came across this is my travels and somebody said that vintage Ibanez screamers can be worth money. I don't play guitar so was contemplating putting it up for sale. Would anybody be able to shed some light on what I have?

So...first some regrets...I had bought a red dot direct from Mike 15years ago...sold it for like $200....anywaaaays.

I just pulled the trigger on this White Dot but when I pulled the plate im only seeing one transistor woth the white dot. The ither has no clear indication of a white dot anywhere. Maybe there's tiny faint red dot but other than Im not seeing it.

Anyone else encountered this before? A singular white dot or singular red? This is a 2009 version fwiw.

I’m not a huge gear head but I recently started getting into pedals and stuff so I’ve been slowly putting this board together (all going through a Vox AC15, which I also got recently.) I took a lot of inspiration from artists I really admire, and also found a lot of help from the people of Reddit and other communities.

I haven’t used the expression pedal yet because the proper cables haven’t come in yet for it to work but I’m very excited to start playing around with it when they do!

I am a bass player learning guitar and for drive on my bass I’ve always just used a sans amp with some dirt dialed in. The stacking of drive pedals is kind of new to me and I can’t seem to make up my mind on what I want or need. These are my pedals I’d like to keep just two on the board. I could do three if the argument is there!

hi all! Just found this Panther Cub for sale locally for 145$ and I was wondering if it’s any good or if I should try a different pedal for around that price. I currently have a line 6 echo park and a Boss RE-20, but I am very interested in the effects loop option this offers.

I saw this in a second-hand guitar shop for £20 and gave it a quick play. It sounded good so I bought it. Did I do good? It certainly sounds good for £20 ahahahaha ;)

My fuzz pedal (since I bought it in 2002!) has been the EHX black Russian Big Muff (V7 I think, it's the big box one).

I love it, but occasionally it feels like muddy and it bugs me I can only use it with a battery.

I keep trying new fuzz pedals, but always end up using the big muff again.

I've tried:

Behringer SF300

DOD Carcosa

JPTR FX Warlow

JPTR FX Super Weirdo

Deep Space Devices Trigonaut

As well as numerous distortions and overdrives (currently have a KMA Wurm 2 in my chain)

Any ideas on what I could try next?

I had been wondering about the DBA Fuzz War, EQD Hizumitas, magic pedals Fuzzthrone or maybe a Caroline Shigeharu.

Main things that keep me going back to the big muff are the sustain and the tone.

3D Printed a pedalboard for myself. Chose the size based on my Mesa amp. I like having it up out of the way.

Anyone have recommendations on pedal combinations?

The Tubezoid B I picked up in Spain while I was there for work. I was previously using it on the effects loop of my boss katana. Warmed up the sound nicely. Not sure it still belongs with the Mesa?

I did ask AI, but man I have a hard time trusting it. Lol

Im having trouble deciding whether to get a big muff or an animals rover fuzz, which do you think would be better for these genres?

I know Mesa have some units like the Throttle Box but I figured I’d ask and see if there’s any unsung heroes out there when it comes to emulating this sound at lower price/volume point hah. Or, if the Throttle Box is exactly what I’m looking for and I’m just over complicating things!

Hand wired (turret board) & hand numbered Eric Johnson Fuzzface clone. The hammered finish is a nice touch.

For recording tracks (finally). This way is motivating to me: less muss, fewer components to fail, or get in the way and also I guess I fundamentally feel like the shorter the distance between the guitar out and the daw (“the tape”), the better. Besides the way it is now, the most fun part of my chain is digital - I’m addicted to the Moogerfooger Phaser and Arturia’s Space Echo plugins.

“Reasons to Be Cheerful” also: I just discovered the “wrap the Velcro tape around and up the sides” method” so at last the Tonex One is staying put.

How would one go about recreating the shimmery vibrato/delay sound on Sheena Ringo's Aozora?

I did some cursory internet searches both in English and Japanese to no avail...

Just got this this morning and I thought I'd share with everyone. I'm stoked on the pedal, but the 9v port doesn't work. I tried a battery—that works. I tried different power supplies and adapters, still nothing. I reached out through reverb for an exchange. We'll see what happens! Can't resist a mystery box

Having a real issue with this little yellow beast, when it’s chained into my pedal board (tuner > comp > detune > od > chorus vibrato> trem> delay>verb) it’s making a lot of hiss. I isolated the problem and have noticed it’s giving a high pitched noise that coincides with the speed dial. It’s usually run on an isolated power brick. Any ideas what could be causing it to do this?
