I really love this guitar

I’ve been rocking a MIM Fender Strat as my only electric since I was 15 (I’m 33 now). Finally got back into daily playing about six months ago, so I figured it was time to reward myself for my consistent practice by adding to the arsenal.

I went to my local guitar shop last week thinking I was in the market for a $1,000+ guitar, since I wanted to feel like I was “upgrading” from my Strat. I was pretty certain I wanted a Reverend, since I’ve admired that brand for a long time and really like the look of their new line. So I tried a couple $1200 Reverends, and they were beautiful instruments but didn’t quite feel right in my hands. Then for some reason the Streamliner CVT caught my eye—something about this Gretschy “SG” look with a bolt-on neck really spoke to me. I plugged it in and couldn’t believe how much more comfortable the neck felt to me than the guitars 5x its price. Sounded just as good as far as I could tell too, at least to my unsophisticated ears. I was tempted to walk out with it, but while looking up the specs on Sweetwater I came across the Electromatic CVT and fell in love with this colorway and the brown stained neck. A bit more expensive than the Streamliner version, but at $450 it was still well less than half of what I thought I was going to spend. Pulled the trigger without a second thought.

It arrived today, set-up great by Sweetwater, and I’ve been having so much fun playing this thing for the past several hours now. I’m so glad I didn’t overspend and am so impressed with Gretsch as a brand for the level of quality they’re offering at this price point. I’m already thinking about putting aside the money I saved for a Gretsch semi-hollow in the not-too-distant future!

I want to see some videos of you guys playing some heavier classic rock or old school metal on your gretsch! I'm a new guitar player and love the aesthetic of gretsch which is why my first guitar is a G5210. I notice mostly people use them to play rock a billy or jazz. I love classic metal and classic rock and would love to see some examples on your gretschs! Mine sounds great with high gain yet I never see anyone playing that style.

I have a Gretsch Electromatic Premier Jet Electric Guitar which I am loving. The G string doesn't want to stay in tune. No problem with the other strings. I just changed the strings.with no luck. Does anyone else have this issue?

Why is it like this

Went to GC to look at a few white and gold Gretsch’s, but couldn’t stop picking this girl up! It’s a Electromatic LTD Flame Okoume Broadcaster. Just had a proper jam session and am falling more in love with this guitar the more I play. The pickups are incredible and I truly wasn’t expecting how well the Bigsby works, thought it would be more of a clunky feeling but it’s super smooth.

This is my first Gretsch and tbh I don’t know much about them. Are there any pointers for getting great tones or things to look out for down the line, things wearing out, maintenance, etc. TIA

The first stop on my Gretsch journey.
I bought this Streamliner in July 2020 as my way back into playing guitar after years away. I even took it on a little glam photo shoot. I had it for about two years, recorded with it, and eventually sold it when the pickups started developing a harshness that just didn’t agree with my ears.

This guitar reignited my love of playing, and there was always something about the Gretsch sound that kept me playing. I couldn’t quite recreate the sound afterward.

One thing I learned: installing a Bigsby on my Epiphone ES-335 IG won’t recreate that signature Gretsch “bloom” when you hit a chord and use the Bigsby. Gretsch definitely has their own lane.

I later picked up a used single-cut Gretsch. It was a great guitar, but it just wasn’t the right fit for me.

Now my third Gretsch arrived this week, and I absolutely love it. It finally feels like I’ve found the one. Looking forward to sharing more of it with everyone here!

Looks like it would be a fun project guitar. Just wanted to share it with the group if anyone has some original parts lying around. I’d be cautious because you could quickly get yourself and into paying more for parts than it would cost to buy one that’s finished.

Just wondering what anyone can tell me about this piece?

Picked it up not long ago at a Cash Converters (New Zealand version of a pawn shop) for 200nzd. Its from Korea - G5422T Electromatic, that much I can see. I don't know much about the Korean manufacturers.

I think I heard Korea had a Gretsch factory for a little bit but its closed now I think?

Does anyone know the post spacing for and the post size for the G5210 bridge? I keep having this rattle issue and want to order Compton bridge. I also believe it is 12in radius and 2 1/8in string spacing. Wanted to ask if anyone knows here rather than taking apart the bridge. I'm guessing it's the same as other electromatics and gretschs? I mostly play old school rock and metal and then blues, any recommendations on material for Compton?

The two single best Gretsches I’ve had the honor of owning, if only for a bit. True bucket list items.

It's an internal vibration and I'm pretty sure it's the wires inside the hollow body that are vibrating and buzzing, I was thinking of just wrapping or padding them.

Is this a known thing with a popular fix?

I've owned a g5622tg for a long time and it's been great. I've got a little fun money so I'm planning to upgrade. I'm a fairly small person, so I want something smaller. I also just want a nicer guitar.

I've landed on the G6659T. I tried a couple at Guitar City and really liked it. Anyone with a G6659T want to chime in on your experience?
