this is an 06 buggy. It has the GY6 150cc long case. Im working on trying to bring it back to life after its sat for a few years. I should note that when i last drove it, i was having clutch issues, and IIRC i blew out reverse its been a long time and i may be confusing that with it just slipping
So, im having starting issues with it. Im using a bump starter used for cars on the battery terminals to try to get the engine to turn over. The starter engages, you can hear an audible click from the starter meeting the flywheel, but the flywheel doesn't rotate enough to turn the engine over. I've removed the starter to further test that it functions the way its supposed to, and it does. The starter appears to be fine. I've noticed that when its attached to the engine, and i try to start it, the starter and the wires get hot, and i assume its because it cant turn the flywheel.
I have tried rotating the flywheel from the starter hole, and it rotates freely with 0 resistance counter clockwise, and it budges very slightly when rotating clockwise, which tells me that the engine is not seized, because if it were, that flywheel would not move AT ALL clockwise.
which makes me think about the clutch issues i had when i drove it last. its a CVT from what i can tell. I have the case lid off, so that i can see the clutch pack, the belt, and the variator. the belt seems fine, but nothing in there seems like it wants to budge, and i wonder if its all locked up in there. Also, it has a kickstart shaft that goes through the case and holds up the muffler, and it is free floating. it has the half moon gear and the spring and everything.
where should i go from here? ive tried to look up videos on this specific problem, but the internet has failed me.

Okay, got a reading on this go kart. Starts but dies if u touch throttle. Anyone seen this? New air filter, cleaned gas tank, and new spark plug. I see ignition angle and O2 correction are crazy but unsure what that means.

I recently purchased a go kart not sure what brand or what it’s called. Came with MCP brakes with the lines all cut, not sure how to get it back together? Do I just put new hose and bleed it and hope there’s no trash in there ? How should I go with this

I'm currently making my first diy go kart and have spent countless hours looking for a live axle kit that fits my needs. Right now I have a 12T centrifugal clutch that fits a #35 chain. I need a 1" axle with the #35 sprocket and brakes and wheel hubs. OR, if thats not possible, let me know as I have also had trouble finding a different clutch that fits my honda gx160 motor to then go and buy a different axle kit.
Thanks for the help!

I'm doing a Yamaha 600 cc inline 4, 6 speed sport bike swap into my old 80s streaker sc7 go cart. So I'll probably be posting a bunch asking random questions. I've gotta get the engine running first though. I'll have to find spots to run and mount all the radiator parts, plus all the wiring harness, battery, gas tank, plus all the random other stuff I'm not thinking of. I'll also need to do a bunch of welding to be able to use the factory engine mounts. I think I'm gonna have to do a jackshaft to get the chain from straight out the back to downward so it can meet the axle. I'll also steal the big two piston hydraulic brakes so I can get crazy stopping power. I'm gonna keep the 530 chain to make sure it can hold up to the tourqe. Big pillow blocks and a 1 1/4 live axle are also a necessity to handle all the 90 horses this engine makes.
Lmk if you have done anything similar and if you have any advice for these engines or the swap in general

Was scrolling fb and found this thing close by, got it for $1k. Everything on it looks good, but the guy I bought it from had left it sitting with gas in it so it doesn't run great. I cleaned up the carb and am planning on draining the tank and checking the fuel pump soon. I think it was a pretty good deal, is there anything big to beware of on the AM29?

Hi! I just bought a k1 pro auto helmet for karting and i’m looking to get some customization for it. Upon my research it’s way too expensive for me to get it airbrushed, is it easy to do yourself with stencils? I’ve also seen vinyl wraps which seem like a cost effective option as well. Any advice appreciated

Hey everybody! My son has been bugging me to build a go kart with him, and we don’t live in an area that lends itself to karting. When I was a kid my dad bought a 2 seat go kart from Sam’s Club, something that was essentially sheet metal with a seat and gas/brake pedals.
I want to build something like that but am not sure where to start. Looking for something that will be light and compact, but still fit two kids, or an adult and one kid. I should add that I have 0 experience welding.
Any suggestions or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! (I attached a photo of something similar that I found in a google image search)

Hey yall so my kart stopped starting with my switch after my battery died and i turned the car on when it was charging (this was dumb). Now i cant get the kart to start with the switch but i can short out the relay to crank it. I have 2 wires to my switch one black, coming from battery positive with a fuze, and one yellow red, going to the relay and energizing it to make it start. I tested the yellow red and confirmed it has 12v but ill check again. Going to the relay i have that yellow red and one green one for ground. Also note that i swapped a battery and when i put the positive and negative cables on without flipping the switch nothing happens but when i flip the switch some sparks fly and it seems like something is happening but the engine isnt cranking
Sorry for the huge paragraph but i just need any help and thank yall in advance!!

I bought this kart off of Facebook marketplace and the rim is bent so the tire won’t seat on the bead and hold air no matter what I do. It has this axel thing sticking out the side and it seems to be welded on, idk if it was custom or pre bought. I’ve tried looking for replacement parts but haven’t had any luck. In fact I can’t even figure out what the part is called. Any ideas?

This is the rear differential out of my old streaker sc7 cart. I absolutely love this thing and it makes cornering soooo smooth compared to a live axle. However sometimes it's frustrating because it makes it harder to do donuts.

Never done this but pretty handy.
Would love some helpful knowledge about building a racing go cart - share plans or purchase chassis? Where?
Planning on learning welding while doing this project. Tips tricks? Who do I source material from that’s not crazy expensive?
Thanks for the help!

Got these from a childhood friend that didn’t want them anymore. They had super old 5hp Briggs and Stratton motors on them. Ended up getting a 6.6 hp predator motor for the blue one.

Hey guys, I just bought my first go kart frame and mounted a predator 212 onto it. I bought all the needed parts and it ran fine for a couple days. But when I tried using it last week whenever I flipped the switch from start to run it would just shoot away from me and I can’t stop it. It was like the throttle got switched into this flip for some reason. I’ve bought a new clutch and checked the throttle and it’s perfectly fine. Even though everything seems to be in order the issue will not go away. I’m new to go karts so I’m sorry if it’s just a stupid mistake.

As the title suggests, I'm wanting to get some parts for a go kart repair. Primarily a rear axle (with bearing mounts) a breaking system, and wheels. I'm mostly curious about the wheels and rear axle portion. If I buy a standard go kart axle I'm assuming I can't just then buy some lawnmower wheels and expect them to interface properly. Is there a certain wheel model I should look for, and a place where I can get them for cheap? Some help on where I can find spare or old parts would be much appreciated. For the braking, I'm planning on just going to a bike store to get a disc brake and attach it to my front pedal.

I built this 212 I bought a kit off eBay and now my engine smokes a lot and fouls spark plugs easily. What do I do? The kit said the company used the same kit on their engine, and I think the problem is the carb. Could I be right? I have the smallest jet they gave me in the carb, and it still smokes. I did the coil gap right; I set it to .25 I have no idea what the problem is. I also attached a vid.
