In season 4 Bell says starting a new universe was Walter’s idea. Do we think that was true in the original timeline or that Peter’s presence had prevented that?

I assume this flair is first time viewers. Currently on Season 1, haven't made it past the 7th episode. But damn... this show! I see many similarities in how each episode unfolds... or a "pattern", if you will 😅: something disturbingly awful happens in the first few minutes, FBI gets to analyze this, the freaky incident is always somehow related to Walter's prior researches, then Massive Dynamics somehow gets involved or related to that (of course they do!), Olivia gets on the case, while Walter gets access to the body or other traces of the supernatural crime... and eventually solves it, often using Peter as a lab rat and calling Astrid a new made-up handle. This is basically the recipe for any episode (at least so far).

A couple of questions:

• does it get better later?
• when do I get the promised parallel universe? (this was the main reason I started watching the show)
  
• what do the symbols appearing between scenes mean? (like apple, butterfly, hand, leaf, etc).

Discovered Fringe this spring (2026), loving it!, and have been working through it. Now in Season 4 with Peter meeting September outside of time. So far, there haven't been any female observers. Thoughts?

I really enjoyed first 2 seasons but I can't keep up with the different universes and double characters and all the confusion now.

Im just watching the season 4 finale and when Olivia tell September now she knows how he got shot when he talked to her at the opera house and he says he doesn’t remember, but why? If Observers exist outside of time how could he be a past September? And why couldn’t he foresee getting trapped

In Seasons 2 and 3, the narrative made a point that a person or object could not travel between Universes without something of an equal mass replacing the person or object.

Does this rule still apply once the Bridge was built?

People cross over all the time, with both versions of the same person being in one Universe at the same time. There is probably also a black market in Blueverse Coffee and Redverse Technology, but you didn't here about it from me.

Was this discrepancy explained and I did miss it? Does the scanning that happens every time someone uses the Bridge weigh the person and whatever they are carrying, with some inert matter being exchanged in their place?

In any case, I do love that the Red and Blue Universes are working together rather than going to War. It makes the who show more subtle and interesting.

I'm in season 2 episode 21 and until now Ive been noticing the number 147 being repeated...is there any significance there ?

It just clicked today rewatching Dirty Sexy Money! All I knew was i've seen him somewhere before.

So I am a first time watcher and perhaps someone has asked this question before. How many of us or you would actually take all this time and effort to fight to stay alive and save humanity? I think at a certain point I might stay home with a pizza and some chocolate chip cookies and rewatch fringe until the universe just ended. Lol.

Walter is my Fav character, of all the names I've heard Him calling Astrid so far.. Ostrich was my Favourite 😂🤣🤣

I’ll be watching the series finale later, and I’m genuinely not ready. How am I supposed to go from seeing Walter every day to… not?

Please send recommendations for what to watch next because I’m entering my post-series grief era.

The whole setup reminded me of those TOS episodes where the Enterprise crew beams down to a planet and the inhabitants are hiding their true identities or pretending to be something they're not. The mystery, the gradual reveal, and the atmosphere felt very much like an old-school Star Trek story, just with Fringe's darker sci-fi style.

3rd watch through. Sneaky bastard cant hide from a cheeky camera shake.

Question above. Okay I'm realizing this could be misinterpreted as GOT and Lost also took risks, when I say take risks like Fringe season 5 did, I mean focus on what's set up and makes sense for the story over what people want or are used to, despite the fact that I liked it, an example of this is Stranger Things 5, to where it was so afraid of taking risks and so focused on trying to "recapture the magic of season 1" that it didn't lean into the apocalyptic vibe set up at the end of season 4 like it should've.

I’m a few episodes into season 5 and am struggling to understand the whole plot.

I’m asking for opinions; should start season 5 over (maybe back up to the last 2 episodes of 4) or if others had this issue also and I’ll catch up eventually.

I started my confusion journey the last couple episodes of season 4, as I felt they crammed so much in at the conclusion.

Watching the series for the first time since it originally aired and noticed Charlie helping out. Not sure what’s going on here but I thought he was out of the picture a few episodes back.

Random episode rewatch S04E13 A Better Human Being - Olivia tells Peter, "I remember everything" :D #iykyk

I've reached S5 in my rewatch, and I must say Michael Kopsa supplies the super creepy as Windmark.

So JJ did both shows so I thought I might catch some ALIAS fans in here. I just finished watching S4 ep11 when other universe's Astrid comes to visit. At the end of the show our Astrid tells her that she shouldn't worry about her relationship with her father because he was a distant guy anyway. Then we see that Astrid was clearly lying to her doppelgänger because her father is super loving. Anyhoo, I thought about this and I thought it was kind of Astrid to tell a lie to make her double feel better.

Now for the ALIAS correlation. When the scene with Astrid and her father were hugging, in my head I heard Will Tippin say "yes, it was a lie. It was a kind lie" to his editor about giving Jenny credit on his story.

Yes, I know what you're thinking. Why did we let this lunatic girl that makes really obscure references in the group? I'll see myself (for now)

So, Jasika Nicole has said the running Astrid gag felt racist afternoon long. In the final season, Broyles says, “You think i’m the Dove? I think i’m more like a raven.” I love this show but I do feel there was something not always PC going on. What do you think of that comment?

September with hair is way handsome! Am I the only one who thinks that? That chin dimples is killing me. lol.

One thing that bugs me about Fringe in the end is how easily they do things. It’s funny and fun at first because they’re working on small cases but by the end the show has just gone from a 4-person team to this huge world-building thing and they just do whatever like it’s so easy. Like in the 2nd to last episode Olivia is just like, “well, why don’t we just cross over to the other side, I’ll get the boy and come back with him.” And Peter is like, “but you no longer have cortexifan in your system,” and Olivia says, “well, I’ll just get it back.” And then they’re like, but how do we know where the boy is being held on the other side and Astrid says, “Well, maybe we can look through the window like it’s a bridge,” and Walter says, “ Aha! That is a brilliant idea!” 5 seconds later Olivia is magical again and she’s preparing to travel like it’s a shuttle craft from Boston to New York. And that they’re alll surprised by this idea like it’s the first time the show has ever used that idea is absurd at this point. And I can see why Jasika is annoyed by the name thing at this point. It’s over-played and I can see why it would feel racist at this point cuz it feels forced. I mean, at the end, Walter is the “smart Walter,” so he should remember her name. I guess I miss the way they were in the beginning. That little family is what drew me to the show. Now they supposedly love each other so much they’re willing to risk each other for the fate of the world as an indication of how MUCH love they have for each other. It’s like reverse psychology.

And Walter isn’t that cute mad scientist he was at the beginning and that’s what made the show great. It’s just completely missing all that was great from the beginning. Getting to the end has been rough.

Okay so the title of my post is 100% correct BUT season 4 is making me crazy. I love Josh Jackson or Pacey as I like to call him, which why I started watching. Seeing him hurting at the beginning of s4 is breaking my heart.

Okay I know it's going to get better. But I don't know one person in my life who has seen this show and I needed to tell someone :) tag you're it!!
