How do I cure myself from this illness? First it was fountain pens....then fountain pen ink, then playing with dip pens and calligraphy, and around and around it goes in one vicious cycle. Is there any hope for me? Or am I just too far gone?

Shining a spotlight on a little-known ink brand today. KA-KU is a stationery store in Osaka and they have their own inks. Here, in the Ink mazeru series, is a mustard color in homage to independant illustrator Karashi Soell. Her name might ring a bell if you’re a TWSBI fan as they did a collab some years ago… which makes for a beautiful and satisfying pairing!

3rd picture shows a comparison to the closest yellows I have on hand (paper is Col-O-Ring from the Well Appointed Desk).

I have owned Ebonite pen before but didn't used it that much and sold . But then I saw this one (八犬伝（智）) with a blue and purple barrel and I was sold in the first 0.2 sec lol

I am very glad I got it, it is heavier but not uncomfortable, it looks and feels premium on hand. The Jowo 18K F has good ink flow , inked with Firefly which has a great amount of yellow tone iridescent shimmer, base color is light enough but very much eligible even with a F nib.

Amethyst is a real beauty because the resin shines when moving the barrel. The new ink released by Van Dieman's is perfect matchy matchy. There are beautiful halo effect with this ink.

Caran d’Ache Léman Rouge Carmin.

Arrived today, my second Léman (and third Caran d’Ache in general). Quality and writing experience way above all other pens I have ever used (including Montblancs, Pelikans, Pilots and Sailors).

I fill my piston pens with an eye dropper, especially with sample inks that are very low. This way, I can put in anything and control the amount. I recorded a video of my process. I twist the knob occasionally, so the feed doesn't flood. The pen here is TWSBI Eco Serpentine. Inked with J herbin Vert Atlantide.

Does anyone else fill their pistons this way?

Edit: Mostly for samples <2ml. I don't have an ink miser.

I used to be really into fountain pens a decade ago, buying a new one every few months and constantly taking a little step up each time. I had three obsessions at the time: finding the pen with the largest ink capacity I could, the most durable pen possible, and finding a truly permanent ink. I ended up eventually buying a Pilot Custom 823 4 years ago (ink capacity checked off and honestly my grail pen), a Parker 51 with a fine nib at the same time (durability checked off), and found Rohrer and Klinger Salix (perfect permanent ink checked off). I don't know what it was about these 3 things, but it was like every bit of desire I had to collect and keep upgrading evaporated overnight. I've bought maybe 2 pens in the years since (flex nibs for calligraphy) and only use Salix or Parker Black in all of my pens. Did any of you buy a grail pen and find that happening to you, did the desire to collect ever come back?

This is an M400 from West Germany. Never inked. Came with the original box and even the original wrapping paper. Wife says I shouldn't use it. What do you all think?

Let me start by saying there has been no nashing of teeth or pulling of beards - I’m owning all of this, so no shade on my partner, as she was incredibly sweet and thoughtful to surprise me by doing my laundry. If she’s reading this I love you.

I’m a chronic pocket leaver - screws, knives, cash, dog treats, etc, and pens. As such, I’m quite diligent about checking my pockets before anything goes into the washer. This is not a problem from which my partner suffers, so in everything went.

Long story short, I just grabbed my pants and found this (cap must have come unscrewed). Amazingly, nothing in the load is covered in Iroshizuku ajisai blue, but is my m1000 m800 toast?

My first fountain pen. I stumbled across the Jinhao 82 whilst looking for any type of refillable pen.

I'm a complete beginner to fountain pens but the 82 is definitely the start of a budding obsession.

Aside from some minor spillages from inking the pen, she writes like a dream and is already very forgiving.

Currently inked with Karikos ink in Bordeaux. A cheap ink I found online, but holds up surprisingly well. (I'm left handed and so far haven't had any smudges.)

I can't wait to expand my pen and ink collection ♡

I just received my Esterbrook Estie Botanical Gardens and she matches the leather journal cover I made beautifully!

What should I ink her with? Diamine Writer's Blood, Ferris Wheel Press Peter Moss, or Teranishi Guitar Gentle Green?

i use the lamy safari with an f nib, write 4+ pages a day, on unlined pages 😅 actually starting my 11th journal of the year today!

Pen for the day: Opus 88 <B> with Krishna Cherry Blossom ink

New (to me) pen this gorgeous Montblanc 149 from 1994/96 from Izods and the new Galen Leather Honey folio, love them.

I found this ad on a copy of LIFE magazine I came across with my father’s things. It is the inside front cover ad, so a very pricy location, second only to the back cover (Coca Cola) and maybe the centerfold (Red Cross Shoes).

But really, I just like em.

- I think they’re pretty.

- Fixing them is like a puzzle with an antique at the end.

What do you say when people ask you why you like fountain pens?

Extra points for the matte finnish. I thought I was shopping for a Momento Zero, but ended up with a Momento Magico. The ink window was too good to pass up. Love the name too - Anima Nera (Black Soul).

I've been curious about vintage Pilot PO nibs for quite a while now, and once again, I am in love! It writes about the same as the modern Kakuno EF (with the same ink), but with more, and very pleasant, feedback, while still retaining reasonably smooth glide. Lighter, too. I feel like I'm finally experiencing that famed sense of peace once you've found "that one pen", hnmm
