Discussion I’m back to the app after 2.5 years. What’s changed?

I moved from Android to iOS 2.5 years ago and don’t want to buy Pro again. So I left the app. Now I’m back and I know that a lot has changed.

I’m not interested in plus but that’s the only big thing I noticed. There seem to be monthly challenges also. I got a new land style and a bonus tree for being a pro user. Cool ig.

Anything else I need to be aware of?

How are people still making the patterns? I used to have an excel template for it but I lost it. So any tips are appreciated.

I had a spook this morning when I opened Forest and saw this update - pettily because I think it's ugly but substantially because I couldn't figure out how to plant with friends. If this rolls out for you, you can roll it back to classic in your settings. Just thought I'd give a heads up so folks could avoid the mild panic I experienced!

Discussion Forest plus advertising - are developers listening to community?

I'm a pro user and recently I've noticed an increasingly annoying pattern - adverts for focus plus are making smooth usage of the app harder - pop ups when opening the app, when going to store and now this. It really feels like the developers make one step forward (making the pause button optional) and then two steps backwards (advertising that's limiting the usage of the app). I love this app. But if it continues I might have to leave.

Devs promised us pro users that all the app features will stay the same for us and that includes the ability to use the app without needing to close a pop-up or avoiding distracting adverts. I really wish they would add an option to say "I'll never buy plus and so leave me alone with these". If they continue, it is my opinion that these ads are going to drive more people off then draw people into subscribing.
