What can I sell these for? Theyre in good shape with very minor surface rust on the chain and brake disks.

I have someone coming to look at them tomorrow for $800 both bikes. Just wondering if theyre listed drastically too low

I'm a longtime cyclist...90% road...80-120 or so miles a week

We have a property at a very long stretch of Washington state beach. Instead of riding road laps around a few road routes, i'm thinking...why not look into a bike that would get me on the beach, ride in the firm sand for a bunch of miles for some pretty strenuous and scenic cycling workouts.

i expect I'd be looking at a fat tire (4"-ish? is that right?) bike with whatever number of rear cogs these bikes come with.

I don't think I need suspension

I don't need a top of the line bike, but the road bikes I have are pretty nice and I don't want a wal-mart special.

and like I said, all analog...no electric

I know nothing about fat tire bikes....I'd love suggestions!

At least the rear wheel is a 104mm fatbike rim I laced myself onto the hub for my ebike conversion.

My main takeaways about 32 inch wheels based on some true single track riding. Riding conditions were hero dirt. The trail network is mostly flat with some punchy climbs and fast descents. Typical rocky and rooty sections that are common on older New England trail networks (Horse Hill trails for those curious). I am 5'9" and 170 lbs riding a size medium.

* Clearance was VERY tight near the seat tube, but I didn't notice any rubbing or drag.

* The geometry of this bike actually felt pretty good overall. BB drop was pretty good and it felt like I was "in" the bike and able to stay low.

* Something about the trail/offset/front grip is noticably different, but felt like something I will get used to.

* Rolls VERY fast, faster than a 29r without a doubt. The crappy winter beater single pot brakes were not adequate and completely unsafe. I do think a nicely maintained 4 pot system with 180s would feel pretty good for most riders under 200 lbs. The lack of suspense fork with the front tire kinda being hard to keep in contact with the ground added to this feeling of inadequate braking.

* Increased rollover on the rear tire was noticeable compared to the 29er, but the front was a little harder to put it where I wanted and wasn't as forgiving as I expected. I think a suspension fork would do this lots of favors... Haven't ridden a 29r fully rigid in years, so it's hard to compare. I do ride a hardtail 29r very frequently.

* It was more work to slow down, more work to turn, and more work to get back rolling. But once it's rolling where you point it, it's a very efficient pedaller.

* Ultimately I'll still reach for my front squish 29r more right now because of the cushion and functional brakes. Maybe a Wren is in the future for this bike next year.

Just picked this up on FB Marketplace for $500. Previous owner would only ride it on a frozen lake with his kids from time to time. Upgraded the pedals for now. Thinking of adding a dropper post. Maybe hydraulic brakes? What do you guys think are must do for now besides a tune up?

Until now I only rode my Cannondale Habit. The plan is add the Fatboy to the rotation in the summer/fall/spring and take it out in the winter (I’m in New England)

I bought a wolf tooth bottom bracket in early May.
I put about 1200 km’s on it before it broke today.
Has this happened to anyone else?
I’ve used Shimano , Race face , Hope and I’ve never had this happen before. I properly torqued it I’m pretty cautious not to over tighten things

Does anyone know where to get some? I looked aliexpress and amazon and can't find any. it's all 26*4 wheels.

Had a kid 4 years ago and winter riding took a nosedive. Also our last few Wisconsin winters have been either mostly warm and melty or bone chilling as well.

Have a Ti Salsa Mukluk with 14 speed Rohloff hub.

Posted it for sale a couple years ago. Couldn’t sell it… still ride it a bit.

Price is down to $2,500 and getting interest and messages again… but I’m on the fence, and for that price, why not just keep it.

Some times it’s not about how fast or far ya go but the destination. This little spots only a couple miles from my house but incredibly chill, only thing I forgot was to bring snacks.

Bought a fatbike off of marketplace - 27.5x4.8", 1x10 Microshift, and it had hardly been used (500 USD). The rear brake needs bleeding, but I took it out on its maiden voyage - a bit odd to steer, but fun to ride on everything, and not get stuck!

It's going to be great this winter - but how are fat tires on ice? Can I just drop the pressure, or are studs recommended as well?

Just passing thru here. Son (14) recently got a fat tire bike that the maintenance men in my complex were going to throw out. He loves it. I wanted one when I was a kid. His birthday is coming up so I'm planning on sprucing up his ride a little; fresh paint (correctly this time, slapped a quick coat of primer on it when he first got it) , new wheels and tires just come in from amazon, he'll have 2 pedals now, maybe some led lights for the spokes... what I woulda wanted if I got one when I was a kid ya know.

But we also need brakes. All the caliper brakes I can find are not wide enough for the wheels. I dont think V brakes would work. Disc brakes seem to need an extra bolt hole that isn't on the frame in order to mount them. Coaster wheels dont seem to come in 20X4 inch wheels. Any advice, links, or a finger pointed in a new direction to explore would be much appreciated.

So today I rode my first Fatbike, and it was the smoothest thing ever. Felt slightly in love with the feeling.

Now, I'm not a trek rider, I live high up on a mountain with paved roads. I wonder, how good are fatbikes as a daily bike? Are they usable at all for cities and going uphill by roads? We have warm summers, cold winters with snow and ice, and a tonne of rain.

I've tried looking for answers but the results are, unsurprisingly, extremely trek focused.

I was looking to get a fat bike for next winter to enjoy the local snow trails, but being in a seaside area, the idea came to me that I could buy one sooner to enjoy a ride on the beach as well. My local bike retailer heavily discouraged me to do so since the salt and sand would most likely damage my components. So here what I was thinking:

1. Buy the cheapest used fat bike that I can find and use it without regrets at the beach. I'm talking something in the 300-400$ price range max. This could also give me a taste of the hobby before spending more money in it

2. Buy a more quality fat bike this winter, most likely a Bigfoot 2 or Bigfoot 1

Where does the group stand with this? Would buying a better bike first glance would risk damaging it with beach/sand riding? If I go the cheap way, any recommandation on brands and specs to look for?

Edit: Thanks for your feedback. I pulled the trigger on an online off-season deal for a Farley 5 since I've read good stuff about it here and on other post. Not sure if I'll ride it on the beach day one but your maintenance tips will definitely help me

I'm 6" - 182 cm, with a 84cm inseam - and I've spotted a really great deal for a clean 2018 Wo in size XL.

The bike is pretty far away from where I live so I'm wondering wether the XL is gonna be OK or if it's gonna feel like a boat and I wait and find a size L.

Just over ten years ago I sold my Pugsley, and I regret it. Now I have an ICT, and I’m a happy rider again. This is her stock on a 43km gravel ride.

I’ve lurked this sub for at least a year, and now I have a few questions. I got this State 6061 Trail Fat Bike a while back and just recently swapped out the fork for a Surly Ice Cream Truck fork and added some Avenir (remember them?) bar ends which totally make this bike a joy.

Interested in two things:
An easy front rack. I didn’t see one in the Old Man Mountain catalog and Surly (oddly) doesn’t seem to make one.

A thru-axle with a handle on it so it’s easier to get on and off my car.
