My wife wanted to fake our baby’s vaccine records, so I vaccinated our 6-month-old—now she wants a divorce

My wife is strongly anti-vaccine. She wanted to avoid vaccinating our baby and even talked about obtaining fake vaccination documentation instead. I told her from the beginning that I would never lie to a doctor or be involved in falsifying medical records.
I didn’t rush into my decision. I watched Vaxxed, read arguments from both sides, talked to people I trust, and waited six months because I wanted to make the most informed decision I could.
The breaking point came when she told me that if the doctor asked whether our baby was up to date on vaccinations, I should just say “yes.” I refused. I wasn’t willing to lie to a physician.
After that, I took our 6-month-old to a nearby hospital and got the recommended vaccines.
When my wife found out, she ripped up our family photos, smashed picture frames, and later sent me divorce papers.
We now seem headed for a custody battle, and I’m honestly devastated. I never imagined our marriage would end over this. My priority has always been what I believed was safest for our child, while also refusing to commit fraud or lie to a healthcare professional.
Has anyone here gone through a custody dispute where parents fundamentally disagreed about childhood vaccinations? How did the courts view it, and is there anything I should be doing now?

I HATE MY DAD

Upvotes

I literally hate him so much. I am 22F and he has made my life a rat experiment for himself. Since the last 5 years, I have spent months and months in isolation because of this man. He always does things according to his convenience. Recently it’s been affecting my mental health a little more because I am going through a breakup. The relationship was emotionally abusive and the guy treats me like shit. I am dealing with a lot and I really wanna just get out but I live in a small town. I have no option. I will be going out for studies soon but because of my dad I have to wait a little longer. It’s been a few months and my mind can’t stop overthinking every little scenario. I am not eating, I am losing sleep. I keep wanting to call my ex and he keeps yelling at me too. This time when I leave, I won’t come home. Things always get worse here. I am honestly dealing with so much. My gut hurts because of anxiety. I feel like crying all the time. I have been having pretty bad thoughts lately. Idk what to do.
Forgot to add, MY DAD has EXTREME anger issues. I am not even allowed to be upset and if I cry, he will literally get angry and yell at everyone in the house.

I don't like my sister's boyfriend.

Upvotes

Don't get me wrong, he's a really nice guy and she's been happier ever since she got with him. But in the past me and my sister used to talk so much, I went to her for almost everything. But ever since they got together, we barely do, they're always either on a call, she's studying or he's at our house/she's at his. She also seems to be snappier than she used to with me, we got into a couple of arguments these past days. She's 18 and I'm four years younger. Idk if it's wrong of me to not like him just because I'm jealous. But I really wish I could still talk to my sister as my whole life she's been the only family member I could go to and defended me and my brother from our parents. We've grown so distant and it makes me really sad.

Parents are upset I got another pet

Hi,

I (21F) and my partner (20F), moved across the country by ourselves a year ago. We both work full time and support ourselves entirely. I have lived on my own since I was 18, and never ask my parents for financial help, as we do not need it. We have 2 young adult cats, and 1 young dog, and recently added a new kitten to our family. I just told my mom about the new kitten, and she lost her mind on me.

I have worked in veterinary medicine since I was 13, and get crazy discounts on veterinary care. Taking my pets to the vet costs around $10-100, and they only cost me around ~$300 a month. Both my partner and I make good money, and taking care of our animals is our top priority. Our animals are spoiled and extremely well taken care of. I introduce them appropriately, and they're all best friends.

However, when I told my mom about the new kitten, she freaked out. She called me irresponsible, and said that I was making a huge financial mistake. We've had this conversation every time I introduce a new animal into the mix. She freaks out, tells me that I am setting myself up for failure, then refuses to speak to me for weeks. She messaged my dad after the call, and told him to tell me she feels bad for freaking out. My dad is also upset and is questioning how I am going to handle so many animals.

My question is, why are they so concerned? I am financially independent, and working with animals is my career. I am a certified dog trainer, and have worked in vet med since I was legally allowed to work. Frankly, I know my ****! Does anyone have any advice on what to say to them? Or insight on why they're so upset with me over this.

Anyone else struggling with their child's fiber intake?

Upvotes

For the past couple of months, my son has been complaining that his stomach hurts several times a week but then some days he said he's perfectly fine and other days he barely wanted to eat because he said his belly feels "full" or uncomfortable. I thought it was probably just a phase until it started to get more serious. We've been to our pediatrician and they haven't found anything serious but when they asked about his bathroom habits that's when it clicked for me that he doesn't seem to go very often and I never paid much attention because he never complained about constipation. While we were explaining his eating habits and what his typical meals look like, the doctor immediately mentioned that the lack of fiber in his diet is pretty significant. It's not that I don't want to include more fiber rich foods but he's been a picky eater his whole life and it feels impossible. Have any of you as parents found something that helped? I feel completely hopeless at this point.

My dad is so unfair and family treats me like crap 💩

Upvotes

My dad is taking my brothers who are 16 and 7 to see the NY Liberty in August and he is booking a 3 night hotel trip.

We live about a hour and a half away in NJ. My brothers and fucking spoiled buttheads. I got upset and told him he sucks and he proceeds to try to say I don’t even like basketball. I have 3 NY liberty shirts and shoes. I played basketball since I was 6.

My mom didn’t help and said let them enjoy a boys weekend your younger brother never gets to do anything with just Daddy and Nicky.

Truth is my brother is a spoiled fucking his brat. And Nick(older brother) doesn’t do anything with him because he’s annoying and fucking tattles and gets us in trouble

Nick is the oldest so my dad favors him.

I’m stuck being forgotten middle child and only girl and it sucks but I can’t complain or get grounded.

Great fucking family life

My mom has noticed that I've changed and its breaking our relationship

Upvotes

I'm 17 and as a teen, its normal to hit puberty and have "phases", however I cant say that this is just a phase. The more time ive been around my mom, the more I realize we don't really see eye to eye. She's constantly been yelling and lecturing me for the littlest things. This isn't anything new, but lately she's been saying that the way I've been acting is somewhat spoiled. I never show emotion so I try not to argue back. Earlier today I did another thing that came off as "spoiled" and she started bringing up how ever since we moved I acted differently. She thinks my friends are a bad influence, she thinks the area is a bad influence. She thinks I act spoiled and entitled. She says im ungrateful and act like a brat. I could tell she started getting emotional which made me think, "have I really changed?" Or is it just me growing up. I am no longer the sweet young boy that was always happy, I am nearly an adult. Of course im going to act more independent but she just doesn't realize that. I honestly don't know what to do. All these arguments have only pushed me further away from her and it makes me really want to move out. I dont know how much longer I can deal with this but I want to hear other people's thoughts.

How to convey to my LT GF that I really do not want to hang out with her family?

Upvotes

Rewrite from a previous post, hope this is better.

My issue, we used to go on vacation once a year, just me and my GF. When I book a vacation I spend a lot of money, first class, VIP everything, mostly taking Cruises. We haven't taken one in almost 2 years. I think I know why.

We have been together 11 years

She has two sons from her first marriage, grown, 30’s, however, uneducated, loud, think they are scholars, get most of their ‘facts’ from social media, not people I would choose to hang out with. Both married their wives not much better.

The sons both have 3 kids each, as well as a niece from my GF’s brother who passed away. oldest (17) to youngest (5), Kid1, Kid2, Kid3, Kid4, Kid5, Kid6, Kid7. All think they are gangsters.

Kid1 (17) – Niece, smart, but a complete stoner, always high, and a bit of drinker

Kid2 (16) – Boy, steals anything not locked up, steals from family, friends, if he wants it, he takes it, always high, asked me to get him a ghost gun one time for ‘protection’. Dumb, I have seen rocks smarter

Kid3 (16) – Girl smart, not always high, but will partake here and there, has a drinking problem

Kid4 (15) – Boy, this one’s a loose cannon, if he doesn’t get his way will resort to putting hands on you. Has gotten in physical fights with his mother, in front of family, and that’s considered normal.

Kid5 (12) – Boy, used to be a smart kid, now grades are falling, taking in the foot steps of his older brother Kid4 and not caring about school, will also partake in the vape if offered.

Kid6 (7) – Girl, wow what can I say, hopefully she gets better as she gets older, but I seriously doubt it, I am hoping once Kid1, Kid2, and Kid3 turn 18 they will find jobs and move out.

Kid7 (5) – Absolute sweetheart of a kid, gets his ass kicked daily by his older brother (Kid4), once again, hoping kid4 gets a job and moves out at 18.

Kid1 – Kid4, failing school and could care less, skip school all the time, 0 punishment or consequences from their parents. Constantly fighting, noise, noise, noise all fucking day.

Luckily, they live 8 hours away, but come here once a year and I absolutely dread it, its stressful, I like quite, TV never on, being able to sit with my thoughts for a couple hours in the morning. These assholes, don’t sleep, I mean seriously don’t sleep, her two sons will be up till 4 am sometimes, the kids right there with them. The sons are at least respectful and keep the noise down but let one of them say something or do something wrong or “be disrespected”, then it’s an hour-long yelling match of who is the biggest loser. In the past two times they have come here the first time this happened twice, in a 5-day period, the second time it happened once. OMG I have never seen this in my whole life, and they do it like it’s completely normal. Next day they are laughing, hugging acting like nothing happened.

A little background on my GF, educated, has run and sold multiple businesses, actually, quite successful in a way, not independently wealthy but can get by. Nicest woman you would ever meet, complete 180 from her kids. Let me say something bad about her sons or grandkids, I will catch hell. Anyone else’s kids act like hers or her grandkids and she is first one to point out how bad they are, but her family, no, no, they are just misunderstood.

Ok hopefully that’s provides enough background, I hate to make posts like a novel.

Going back to my second paragraph, ‘I think I know why.’

We were sitting around one night, and she said the Boys (her sons) want to take a cruise. I said ‘Good for them’.

She gave me a look and I knew it would be trouble. ‘All of us’, she added

‘You, me, the boys, and their wives, and the grandkids’

I laughed and said who is paying for this? She said the boys will pay for themselves and their wives, not sure how, can you really travel on minimum wage doing general labor and amazon gig working?

However did ask if I would pay for the grandkids, at which point I respectfully lost my mind.

‘Fuck you’ I said.

What would really happen is she would pay most if not all of the boys and their wives, and I would be stuck in my own little hell for however long the cruise would be.

Now im struggling to figure out what to do.

We would not break up, but also this no down time shit is going to drive me crazy, I need my vacations, and no I wouldn't go without her.

I feel like we cannot have nice things, we just bought a brand new 2026 mustang 5.0, they will be here in about a month for 5 days, I said “No one drives the mustang”, she look at me, laughed and said “I cannot promise you that”, I said “Its not a toy”, to which she replied “Yes it is”. A $70k vehicle, which I pay for, as well as insurance. These kids don’t respect themselves let alone a cruise or a $70k vehicle.

That’s just one example over the past couple of years, I have been dealing with

My father is ready to leave us because he cares about his brother more than us.

Upvotes

I don’t know how to say this but there is just soo much to say.
So the thing is that my father who is retired now is a person is really misogynistic person towards my mother and has never respected her. He has always disrespected her in front of people, never listened to her opinions with a clear mind and always seems to be angry all the time. He has serious anger issues.

Since he retired 3 years ago there has been constant big fights happening between them about the same family issue.

My father’s younger brother(my uncle) has never really cared about him and all the sacrifices he has made just for the benefit of both the families, especially his wife who just treats him like a servant.
But my father just doesn’t seem to understand this behaviour towards him and is just too lost for his brotherly love even thought it’s not mutual.

We have even tried to explain it to him but he just ignores us and whenever we bring this topic up he gets really angry and starts abusing us.
I have even seen his chats where he has said that he will leave us just because he cares about him more than his own wife and children.

And now today my father and my mother are in our hometown and me and my brother are in a different state. He has kicked my mother out of the house out of anger just when she brought up that same topic. He took her phone too.

Please help me on how to deal with a father who just doesn’t doesn’t care about his family and is ready to leave just to have a good relationship his brother. I am really stressed as I have seen this happening for too long now.

I have even thought about why they don’t take divorce when they have never been compatible and are completely opposite of each other.

How do I kindly ask my FIL to move out?

Upvotes

Title: How do I tell my father-in-law he needs to move out?

I need advice on having a really difficult conversation with my father-in-law.

He has been living with us for almost 3 years, and the situation has gotten to the point where I feel like I need my home back. He’s 60 and has some mild heart problems, so I do understand that things are not easy for him. The problem is that he hasn’t had a job in about a year, he hasn’t been able to contribute the rent he was supposed to, and he doesn’t currently have a realistic plan for supporting himself. And has just been streaming on tiktok all the time.

One of the complications is that his name is still on the house he shared with his ex-wife. They are still dealing with the mortgage/ownership situation, and I’m not sure what his options are or whether he can realistically find housing. He also can’t really afford another lawyer, so I don’t know what steps he can take.

There are also ongoing issues that have made living together stressful. He creates drama and then brings it to us, and he uses and damages my things often without permission. I feel like I’m constantly stressed in my own house.

The hard part is that I don’t want to be cruel or leave him with nowhere to go, but I also can’t keep living like this. My fiancé really doesn’t want to be the one to have this conversation, but it’s getting to the point where if he doesn’t move out, I might.

How would you approach this conversation without making him feel like you hate him or are resentful? I want it to go as smoothly as possible but his dad is known for getting mad easily and trying to used quilting people to get what he wants.

I’m tired

So I’ve always never had a particularly good relationship with my stepfather. He’s always passive aggressive, for example, I would say I’m hungry and he would say:”well some people would consider that as rude” and basically say stuff about how I’m lazy and stuff. Another example is when I just casually mentioned to my mum that we have no milk, he overheard and said” I know where’s milk, the supermarket and get some”. He’s very emotionally difficult, he never apologised once I’ve been with him, literally not even once. Once I showered for too long and ig he wasn’t having a good day and got super angry, threw the ground mat at me cause I always put the wet mat up and took a dry mat and placed it on the ground ground, he probably thought it was wet, I explained that it was dry and he straight up called me weird (i think it was because he didn’t know what to say so he just called me weird) and shouted a bunch of stuff, and cherry picked my habits, like I sometimes don’t put the vacuum on charge, or am always in my room during the holidays (I’m an introvert and don’t have much friends). Now this happened like a few months ago, and quite frankly I still can’t get over it, he hasn’t done anything outrageous for these past few months, but there are still times where he would be passive aggressive, sometimes he makes unfunny kinda mean jokes but I have to pretend it’s funny otherwise it’ll be this whole thing, I’m tired, tired to live, tired to exist. I talked to my mum about it and she is very split, on one side it would mean ending a marriage and cutting off half of the friends family we have (all of his relatives are actually very decent people), he also didn’t cross any lines these past few months and I feel like if I do it, I’m kind of making a big deal, also he has always been nicer to my mum than to me, she knows that he isn’t nice to me but what can she do. I would be out doing something fun, hanging out with friend, then I would think about whose waiting for me at home and my mood would drop like a roller coaster, I go through my day with this thing basically looming over my head and im so tired of it. What can I do, I seriously don’t know, I already don’t talk to him and limit interactions but it’s still feel incredibly tiring his presence, i lived with him for 4 years with my mother and he’s been slightly better, but I guess putting up years with him finally caught up to me. Please make some suggestions and if you have any questions, do ask away. I’m 15M btw

Half sibling doesnt know about me. What should I do?

My dad had a child with a woman when I was 18. They had a falling out and he signed over his rights to the child a few years in, when the mom's new husband wanted to adopt her. She's 9 now. My younger sister tried to reach out and was told that they didn't want to introduce her as a half sibling. Should I just wait for her to reach out to me years from now? Introduce myself as a cousin? Tell her im her sister anyway?

This is gonna be a long one, but care to help someone struggling with a family member?

My sister, I have posted things about her here, just to take advice and it had helped my so here I an again.

I(F19) have an older sister(F23) who's obsessed with a boy band and its lead singer; which is fine, I'm obsessed with Arcane ( the series ) and we all have our favourites.

But it started pissing me off when, clearly after some years, I became less than just her little sister and more than another independent person. I still do like that boy band but not even close to too much like a stan she is.

She beside all this, has her own favourites and she's kind of picky; Like she prefers movies with high imdb or ones thay specifically are produced and directed by people like Christopher Nolan, which ok, valid.

But last time she FORCED me into watching a few episodes of Hannibal JUST cause she said I wouldnt bare it and appreciate her taste in movies which, mind you, I have blood phobia and its so bad if I accidently cut myself I start getting panick attacks and cannot breath, im pretty sure even people that haven't watched it, would know why I didnt want to watch Hannibal, but I gave the series 4 episodes of chance and didnt say a word. I know maybe I was wrong for not saying anything but everytime I walked away she made me the bad person. Even after 4 episodes,I got up and said its enough for a day and she went "Ok wtf, dont watch it if you dont like it" bro I told you 1000 times I dont wan tto watch it and you made me feel like shit.

Now a few months ago I watched Arcane and fell in love with it, the artstyle, the story, how it was made and yadayadayada. I suggested my sister to watch it with me, first she came up with an excuse that she hates it when lesbians in movies are like one side is masculine and one side is just so girly, which i dont agree cause it wasn't like roles fully changed to a straight like relationship, one was a powerful enforcer, one was pretty much strong physically, there was no gender roles like that. Which I told her about and she was like yeah but still the vibe...

I asked her to give it a chance and watch the first episodes. She just grunted the whole first and only episode she watched saying "this is not my type of movie", "this is childish I cant take an animation seriously." , "this is too fantasy" which um, ok but steam-punk is not entirely about magic?💀

I let go. Even though it was sad, it happened a million times after that she just wanted to tell me about hannibal so I decided to do the same with Arcane, only that Hannibal would make me feel sick and Arcane didnt hurt her. Wverytime I ahowed her an edit, a sneak peak like edit, just a dialogue, or even when she saw my posters, she always had the expression of someone exhausted and so done with me, which like, girl be fr your whole room is the band's posters ( literally the walls and shelves, mine are only 2). A few nights ago I realised Arcane season 3 was coming and I just expressed my excitement about it and she literally GRUNTED saying "idk why I hate it so much"💀💀💀💀

Gurl- me being the desperate little sister i am tried to clean up some misunderstandings about Arcane that sometimes went to her fyp or that she saw and misunderstood when I was watching. She kept saying stuff like "Their relationships toxic" and yadayadayada.

I was just like okay she knows I hate being interrupted and she's just doing it. There was this one time she even got up and fed our cat out of nowhere and when she came back to sit and I continued, she literally said "Why do you keep on explaining really? I dont wanna know."

Which is harsh coming from someone making me watch alot of videos about the band, that maybe I do not hate, but am not a stan like she is, not anymore, or making me watch things with her that I'm not in a mood for in the minute and then she gets upset af.

After that night in couldnt be comfortable with her showing her my interests, not anymore. It had happened alot of times. And its not just Arcane, I've seen her when she catches me listening to female rappers and she calls it "porn-listening" ( she's a bit of a traditional but, still, I respect that. Okay? Everyone lives their own kind of life )

Last night I just wanted to show her a a 6 minute video on YouTube that was funny to me and she asked with a pissed expression "How long is it?" I just felt my heart sink and answered "only a few minutes"

not trying to show any negative emotions cause she has a bad body immunity, more sensitive than me, like she gets headaches and lays down that whole day and it really does concern me, but sadly its also not a new thing so I wasn't like supposed to be shocked or so nervous, she always said she hated when we freaked out on her feeling sick or bad, cause she wanted to prove she could do it without our help and support ( comes from a trauma )

She has been doing it now for a long time, I always saw her as my partner in showing our favourite stuff to eachother but sometimes when things aren't mutual, it breaks me. I dont know how to react, what to do, not anymore. Whatever I do, it'll make me feel guilty.

should a child ever be told they were adopted if everyone else wants to keep it a secret?

my parents adopted a child about 11 years ago, but the situation is a little unusual. the child's biological mother was raised by my mom, so i've always considered her my sister even though we're not biologically related. when she got pregnant, she didn't want her family to find out because she was afraid of the consequences, so my parents adopted the baby and have raised the child ever since.

as far as i know, her side of the family still has no idea that the child exists or that they're biologically related. the child has grown up believing my parents are their parents. lately i've been wondering what the right thing is long term. should a child always know the truth about where they came from, even if it could completely change family relationships? or is it better to leave things alone if everyone involved has agreed to keep it private?

i'm genuinely curious how other families have handled situations like this.

Need advice about a little sister who’s 12

So pretty much my sister is angry with my mother. my sister will not stop talking back calling her name is making fun of my mom essentially and all around just won’t listen to my mom at all, no matter what my mom is talking to her about and as the oldest sister, I’m trying to make sure they don’t pull each other‘s hair out so any clue on how to manage or communicate to my sister would be a great help.

My brother is a dissapointment.

I genuinely don't know where to start.

First. He's extremely racist, obnoxiously loud, disrespectful, uneducated, all at the age of 10.

I personally don't want to say this much shit against a family member, especially someone younger, but it's gotten to a point.

Racist: He spams the N word, mostly the hard R, and some shit about black people. I tell him to stop but that's where he becomes disrespectful like it's my fault.

Loud: Every single time he's in the wrong and acts like its not his fault. He yells at me and my parents yell at me back because I'm BEATING him in a game.

Disrespectful: I've talked to him about it multiple times, won't listen, and completely convinced he's wasting his life. I've told this to my parents several times and he just talks back and doesn't even explain anything, just straight up disrespectful loud, and all while he's completely wrong btw.

Uneducated: This can be a little personal, but I wont get extremely detailed. He keeps crying because his teacher keeps disciplining him, half the time the teacher is right but then he decides to skip 3/4 of 4th grade just because he's "scared" and "crying". It isn't that bad until I got sick one day and I was able to see what he was doing at home instead at school. And he wasn't even making up for learning and just doing nothing. He can't even spell certain words that you'd learn at 2nd grade, even memorizing the alphabet of our native language. (which is crazy)

He smells fucking terrible. He showers like once ever 4 days, and its fucking obnoxious, and he claims he doesn't want to cut his hair because he hates the feeling of a barber, but then complains why his hair is so long, like the fuck?

I don't want to say too much because obviously I don't know his perspective, and yells at me when I ask him, so yeah, but my parents still side with him, even when he is clearly worse.

Now, it would be fine if he even tried to change, but he's been like this for 4+ years now, and it has only gotten worse.

As of writing this, he's still spamming the hard R and extremely loud and disrespectful.

I don't know what to do anymore.

How can i fix my brother and my mother's relationship

My Brother is older than me by a year. Nowadays i rarely talk to him and he rarely talks to me, we only ever really 'interact' when i need to be given a ride by him, hell we went to different middle schools at one point and when i went home i genuinely had a realization that i forgot i had a brother because i was swamped with school work and competitions. We also don't really get along well when we were young but things were a lot better, i mean we did get into fights and argued but we still talked, played, and study together. One time when were REALLY young i mean in elementary 5th grade iirc, we had a fight (i think?) i don't exactly remember what it was about but ever since that "fight" we never really talked

Now as for my mom, she's very kind.. or at least she is to me and sometimes a little forgetful, I'm guessing she's my favorite child because we rarely ever get into a fight, and my mom is usually my support system. Yes I'm a momma's boy. But she was always hard on my brother, for what reason exactly? i don't know, and i try to nudge her to be more kind to my brother like to me but i don't know if she really considered it, Yes on the other hand she cares a lot about my brother, she's a mother after all. But on the other hand she's very forgetful and doesn't pay attention to us if she thinks we're already "independent" enough, that of course results in constant arguments between my brother and my mother about his future and which university he is going to, and what major is he going to take 1 year from now which leads us to where we are now

My brother is a very heavy science major, he picked biology, chemistry, and advanced math for his classes in school. But one thing that is holding him back is he is colorblind, now i don't know how severe the colorblindness is but one time my mom showed him a dark blue pants and he thought it was dark brown. He's very clear and upfront on wanting to take a biology major, and my mom is constantly against or at least is trying to persuade him to pick a different major because of his colorblindness, he says there's other jobs that a science major can pick that won't let his colorblindness affect him negatively (which i don't actually know if that's true or not at least in my country but if it is then I'm happy for him), and my mom thinks him picking a biology major is not realistic because it needs you to not be colorblind. But of course my brother is mad at her because she doesn't believe that there is a biology major that doesn't involve his colorblindness.

My brother also wants to go to a very fancy big university which iirc there's only like 4 of those in our country and people all across the world are constantly competing to get in every single year. On top of that his grades are really bad, he was ranked at 28th out of all the students and there's 37 students in his class. And his grades when averaged out is nowhere near a 90 which is what i heard is the very minimum of what you need to be able to compete with top students across the world. My mom says he needs to be realistic since she says he's very lazy and doesn't get good grades, and to just pick a meh to okay university which he doesn't want to because again he wants to be in a big fancy university. He says he also wants to take a gap year if he doesn't get accepted, which what my mom said is also a problem because he's 18 right now, if he takes a gap year then he'll be 19 and when he finally gets accepted and graduates he'll be 24 by then, but she says in our country if you're above 27 or 28 finding a job at that age would be hard (and again i don't know if that's true) and now they're waiting for my dad to get home so they can discuss all this together

And where do i stand in all of this? In the fucking shower after already showering and drying up waiting 10 minutes for their argument to end. I really just want us, want everyone to get along again instead of arguing mindlessly, i feel like my mom needs to be more supportive of his dreams and i feel like my brother needs to be more grounded and realize there are things he can't do that normal eyes can. But i don't know how to say it without my mom thinking I'm siding with my brother and vice versa

I need advice

So, my mom has been in hospice care for about two weeks now. I’ve been urging my half-brother to come visit her with his kids and wife. I understand that my brother has issues with my dad for various reasons. I don’t think they’re communicating effectively right now, but this is a crucial time. She’s in the dying stages, and if anyone visits her, she won’t recognize anyone anymore. I wanted him to visit before that. My dad has said that if he doesn’t come visit, he’s cutting them out of his life. I can somewhat agree with him, but I don’t want to cut them out of my life.
I agree with my dad’s statement because it’s important to see a loved one before they pass away. I know he will regret it if he doesn’t get to see her.

I’m at a crossroads because I love my brother. I love his family, but not making the effort to come see my mom, your step mom that took care of you, she let you stay in the house when you first arrived from Jamaica.

I know he’s busy he works. He has kids and his wife owns his horse consignment store but you can’t give up one day to come see mom I’m irritated.

Pet causing family issues

Need advice on what to do with my current family situation. I live with family in a multi-generational home and recently my aunt told everyone she’s sick of having pets in the house. She flat out said “either get rid of your animals or move out”. She basically gave everyone a 2 day deadline. She says she’s even getting rid of her dog, which she’s had for 3 years now.

My cat is my baby, I’ve had her since she was a kitten (she’s 7yrs old now). She’s such a sweet and calm baby too and doesn’t bother anyone.
I feel as though she’s upset because her son has a cat and isn’t very responsible of her but I’ve offered many times to help (buy food, litter, etc). His cat isn’t neutered and has been spraying lately which I understand can be frustrating but again I’ve offered to help pay for that too or replace anything she’s ruined. Just so we can keep the other cat as I’ve grown to love her too.

I know the easy answer is to just move out and I would love to but 1) I Don’t think it’s fair I have to get rid of my cat just because she wants me to even though I pay rent and contribute. 2) I don’t have anywhere to go so suddenly or the financial means to just get my own place so quickly 3) I help care for my grandma so I would feel extremely guilty to leave her as I know she wouldn’t follow me. Even though both my aunt and grandma have already said that I’m being ridiculous and horrible for choosing my cat over family.

I’ve spoken to other family about this and one offered me a place to stay but they live in another state and I’m not sure I’m ready to uproot my life so quickly. Especially when I have a good job where I’m currently at (clearly just not the best living situation).

Not sure if I’m being overly dramatic by questioning to move out over this or what but I’m really at a loss of what to do.

TLDR:
My aunt (head of house) wants everyone to get rid of their pets or move out. I’m debating on moving out as I don’t have anywhere to go and I have other family that rely on me but I know they aren’t willing to move so I feel guilty to leave them behind.

Grandparents Help

Hey, I need some advice. I have this ongoing rift with my parents and how they watch my kids.

Issue….
My daughter is 6 and a little on the chubby side. Our pediatrician said she needs to lose or at least maintain her current weight she also struggles with some acid reflux too. We have made some dietary changes to incorporate healthier foods and exercise. We don’t talk about weight at all with our daughter, we just put it that our changes are helping her heartburn. She’s happy and we are happy.

My parents
Both are extremely obese and eat garbage all day. My parents took my son 14 and daughter 6 to a church luncheon with some other kids. My daughter had a hotdog and some chips. They had cookies there by she said no she already had an unhealthy snack (chips) with her lunch. My mom essentially told her to go up and get a cookie it’s not a big deal. So my daughter went up and grabbed one against her wishes. She came back and told me when I asked how their day was. She was afraid my wife and I would be upset. We weren’t we commended her for making a good choice!

This really runs my bag over a cheese grater….everything with her is a constant battle. They can’t ever seem just do what I want. I’m the parent and those are my kids, you can disagree with our parenting style that’s fine. Keep it to your goddamn self. My 6yo over heard my Mom bitching because I’m stubborn and won’t let them use some oldass hand me down carseat for my 6 yo and 2 yo. Sorry that I have standards and want my kids safe.

My mom can’t ever just be agreeable, everything she does has to show how’s she’s the boss. She’s HIGHLY manipulative and always has to get her way.

I feel like if I’m the parent they should be respecting my parental decisions and support those not undermine me every chance she gets. Now I have to have another talk about how I would like things to be done……..again
