Curious about what everyone thinks about the possibility of FairyLoot starting to include extended editions of the original books. We already saw it happen with The Unicorn Hunters, and it feels like a lot of people (at least here in the UK) picked up the FairyLoot edition purely for the extra 20k words.

The SE market feels so oversaturated now. Every box is doing the same books with different aesthetics, and sprayed edges, endpapers, foil, and printed hardcovers are basically the baseline now. On top of that, B&N, Waterstones, and other retailers all have their own exclusives.

We know FairyLoot is driven by FOMO - do you think expanded manuscripts are going to be the next big selling point for special editions? Or is The Unicorn Hunters just an outlier and everyone hates the idea that they can't read "the full story" anywhere else?

The EA for Bookish Box’s reprint of Lady of Darkness is live! I’m so excited to finally have been able to snag a set. Now I can get rid of my FL set. Who else snagged a copy or plans to? ☺️

Anyone having any luck guessing these? I thought a bargain so bloody could fit week 2 emojis but the hints don’t fit. Including the week 1 hints as well in case anyone missed them.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, but now that we finally have a full year’s worth of releases from FL’s publisher, I think enough of a pattern has emerged to make a few observations!

— Every single Wayward title published so far has gotten a FairyLoot edition, whether it’s been in a box or a separate sale.
— Titles acquired close to pub date (usually indies) tend to end up as separate sales because there just isn’t enough time for the usual ~1-year production pipeline.
— There doesn’t seem to be any correlation between FairyLoot’s social media engagement (likes, comments, etc.) and whether a Wayward title ends up in a box. I think Steelborn disproved that. FairyLoot was probably just hyping it because it’s one of their biggest titles of the year and they wanted to drive engagement.

I think at this point it’s pretty clear that, while FairyLoot has always relied on secrecy, this arrangement with Wayward makes a significant chunk of their picks predictable months in advance.
It makes me wonder what this means for FairyLoot as a company. Even other publishers can probably see the pattern and know when to pitch their books—or, more realistically, when not to, because they’ll want to avoid months that are likely to feature a Wayward TxF release.

Just looking at the recently updated 2027 spreadsheet, we already have at least 3-4 titles from books that have effectively already been announced: Princess of Lies, The Book Witch and Witch & Hunter (the fourth one being Truthteller if it ever ends up being confirmed as a Wayward title). So there might be even MORE Wayward books in boxes next year beyond those 3-4, not to mention all the separate sales they’ll have to run for sequels.

Does anyone else find that arrangement a little surprising compared to other subscription box models? It’s one thing for people like Autumn to correctly identify books from teaser clues, but it’s another to be able to predict roughly a year worth of subscription picks based on a publisher’s release schedule.

What are your thoughts? I’ve mentioned in a different post that I even wonder if it makes sense for them to simply launch a new box just for their imprint’s titles, as this arrangement seems so unusual when you consider the competition.

I have two FairyLoot Adult books that I've been trying to sell for a while now with zero luck: Deathbringer (May) and The Winged Game (July).

So now I'm wondering if I should just keep them and give them a chance instead. 😂

So... if you've read either one (or both), what did you think? Were they actually worth the read? I'd love to hear some spoiler-free opinions before I finally take them off my sale pile.

How good of a chance is it that Defy the Dusk is a sub book for one of the upcoming months?

Someone claimed Fairyloot hinted at it with emojis on Facebook but I don’t know how true that is as I can’t find it anywhere.

We already have the guesses for September’s (Adult, YA, Romantasy) books, as well as October & November Adult guesses.

Could it be in Romantasy in Oct/November (release month)?
