As a mimmaxer, I really struggle to find a reason to start as any other nation than Austria, Timurids or Oirat if I intend on doing any tag formations at all, simply because these nations are so powerful that starting as anything else feels like handicapping yourself for no clear reason.

For example, why would I play manchu->qing or daimyo->japan, when I could start as Oirat, conquer all of eurasia by 1550 and be 20 years ahead in technology and THEN form Qing or Japan or whatever? Why would I play any tag in europe besides Austria which can PU the entire continent, and can also form any tag you want? 99% of the time you miss out on absolutely zero flavor by starting as these tags instead of the historical intended starts.

I think the devs realized this was a problem towards the end of EU4's development cycle, which is why they added little special bonus modifiers if you formed tags a certain way, for example karabakh->armenia has a special mission branch and ardabil->persia has some special events. But I wish these were the norm and not the exception. I hate playing muscovy->russia, seeing my empire stretch from the baltic to siberia, and feeling disappointed because if I started as Oirat I could be three times bigger in size and ten times stronger, and there's absolutely nothing to show for it. There is no way to tell apart whether this is a very successful muscovy->russia run, or a really really shitty oirat->russia run.

Unexpectedly, this campaign has been a lot of fun. I expected to get bored pretty quickly because I usually have issues with GC. ;))But the fact that I keep getting terrible rulers, that Christianity is spreading way too fast, and that I've had constant trouble with my vassals because of Parthia has made this campaign really entertaining.It's going to get even more interesting in a few hundred years, once I'm done with Europe and it's finally time to take on, one by one: Parthia, which stretches all the way to Tibet; the Satavahana, who control all of India; and the Xiongnu (a nomadic confederation), whose territory also extends from near Persia all the way to Manchuria.

Which game should I come back to?

There is a chcance you seen one on youtube. There is 2 or more players, that play on one save, and after playing around 50 Year's they give the save to another Person. We can do a meme - like campaing, where we do shit and have fun, bonuses stacking campaing, where we form nations to get thier bounses (if where going to do this one, lets stack only one bonus type okay?) or we can do a challange campaing, where we need to form Roman Empire using Ulm or somthing like that. I'm not choosing the nation, and the theme of camping, so it is up to person that will start the campaign. Also keep in mind. I'm not really good in eu4, so i woud rather to do this with not really well playing players. so if you want to play, and propose an ida, of what where going to do, go ahead. Last thing: i'm doing this w max 6 players.

Basically title, when I press F12 while in game it doesn't do anything, plus I think this might have something to do with it, I think everytime I go from Menu to actual gameplay the game restarts or something, it doesn't really happen when I open a save file or start a game, but when I press exit to menu the game closes and opens again in the Menu.

I think that's why I have registered 9 mins in the past 2 weeks while I have spent the past 3 days playing, so, any solutions guys? Thanks beforehand, I want to post actual screenshots and not photos from cell phone.

Playing as France, allied to Castile, 1530ish. Castille launches a war for Naples, calls me in against not just Naples, but also Austria - who is the HRE, and has both Hungary and Bohemia as junior partners. We're outnumbered about 100k to 80k, with no discernible advantage in tech.

And Spain calls the war with only about 12k troops in Spain. The rest are scattered around the new world. So, the AI expects me to accept a call to an offensive war, against an opponent who outnumbers us (and me about 2:1), while they are completely unprepared to mobilize for the conflict.

I'm not going for a world conquest or anything like that

I'm currently running a France campaign aiming for Big Blue Blob -> Azur semé de lis or -> Better than Napoleon -> Napoleon's Ambition -> Mare Nostrum.

I got a bit impatient and started truce-cycling the former HRE, starting with the Low Countries. After expanding rapidly and stacking a metric ton of AE (PLC and Pope are friends), I got hit out of nowhere by the Dutch Revolt and lost it all.

Given my overall goals, what should my next steps be?

• Should I keep truce-cycling? (This is burning through a lot of ADM points, and I've already picked Religious Ideas).
• Or should I settle down, let the AE cool off, and then expand aggressively using Deus Vult?

I can get all but one province from the netherlends (for 110 AE), should I do that? Or just the trade provinces in English node (still a lot of AE)?

Unless I am being stoopid by missing something right in my face, isn't this debuff supposed to be revoked when Ladislaus become emperor? Game says:

To revoke this privilege ONE OF THE FOLLOWING must be true:

Ladislaus is either dead or our ruler (which is the case)
Has enacted the unite the Habsburg lands decision

By what I understand, it should be revoked, no?

I know someone has posted Kongo as the HRE emperor in earlier versions of the game. I have seen some quite unusual HRE emperors in my 3000 hours of EU4 as well.

I have seen Provence somehow made it to the Age of Absolutism and thriving, and was voted the HRE emperor multiple times in a row. I have also seen one of the Irish minors out of everyone was made the HRE emperor while England shit the bed.

Playing as Karabakh, I finally got a good start going. One of my hardest successes to date.

Last year I got really into ck3, platinumed it, and now am ready to move onto eu4 because I've heard a lot of people say it's just a better ck3. I've heard a lot of people say that countries like Portugal and England are the best starts for new players, but the colonial gameplay doesn't really appeal to me that much. I really enjoy playing in Italy in ck3 and I was wondering if Naples is a good start for a new player like me or if I should just start as Portugal or something else entirely. I'm open to any recommendations I know there's a lot of experienced players in the community that could help me out :)

Hi everyone,

I'm currently going for the Prince of Egypt achievement, but I can't seem to figure out why the decision to form Egypt isn't available.

So far I've:

• Culture shifted to Egyptian (it's now my primary culture).
• Moved my capital to Cairo.
• Currently, I'm admin tech 18 (ik it takes 20 to form, but does that mean I only see the decision then?)

From what I understand, the requirement is simply to have Egyptian as your primary culture, not necessarily for it to make up the majority of my development. My Egyptian culture percentage is still fairly low, though, so I'm wondering if that's the issue or if I'm overlooking another requirement.

Also, Mamluks got conquered by Ottomans and got turned into an Eyalet. Not sure if this also nullifies the requirements.

Is there something else I'm missing, or have I misunderstood how the requirements work?
