As a member of Founding 7 of Sticky, I got this from Seeed Studio. It just works well as either a Note or an e-reader.

The thing I anticipate is the font lighting and some colorful enclosures

I got this new typewriter style keyboard that has a slot to put a tablet in it, and my intention was to slot my tablet in there but my iPad is too big.

Now I'm going to have to get something else because I really like how the keyboard types. Does anyone have any recommendations for an e ink monitor or an e ink tablet that has a word processor on it?

It's supposed to be able to fit up to an 11 inch tablet/monitot

So it’s finally here! My XTEINK X4 Pro! Unfortunately in Black, I would have preferred it in White but anyways. In this video I unbox it and do a first start and first look of it. I also do a quick comparison to X3 and X4. I also bind it to the XTEINK app on my iPhone. More to come. I will do a review video later on and also guides on how to install crosspoint and more. Unfortunately it doesnt fit on my iPhone Air :( 

What I really wanted is a Remarkable Paper Pro, but it is too expensive. Can you recommend something that can be used with a keyboard, that is much cheaper but without losing too much on build quality and just quality in general?

I’m trying to decide between the Kindle Colorsoft, Kobo Libra Colour, and Kobo Clara Colour. They all cost about the same where I live, so price isn’t really a deciding factor.
What matters most to me is battery life, overall performance, and durability. I’d like something that will last me for years.
I do plan on buying some books, but I also expect to sideload a lot of my books, so having a device that’s flexible and easy to transfer files to is important.
Which one would you recommend, and why?
Also, sorry if there are any mistakes in my post. English isn’t my first language, so I used a translator to help me write this.

Does anyone have any of these devices?

Always seems a bit strange to me that there aren't more reviews of some of them, especially since several are European brands and some of the most well known reviewers are European.

I was considering the Inkbook Solaris as a cheap Android reader that looks pretty good for the price, but it's pretty weakly specced so wondering how it'll do with 3rd party apps.

But interested in hearing generally about experiences. Does anyone have a Musnap? Is it correct that these are rebranded iReaders? If so you'd think they'd be a bigger deal given that's a major brand in China.

I have been thinking less about the enclosure lately and more about what is happening behind the screen.

A few of you said the last character looked a bit too AI-ish. Fair. I have been trying different directions, but I have not found the design I really love yet. Art direction turns out to be its own whole problem.

The character is not locked in anyway. Eventually I want people to be able to put their own things on this hardware: a character they loved as a kid, a cartoon version of themselves, or some creature they made up.

The bigger idea is that I do not want this to end up as a static desk ornament. I also do not want it to be a Tamagotchi that sits there waiting for you to keep it alive.

I want it to have its own routine, relationships, and personality. It does not need to orbit its human all day. It could go to work, make friends, fall in love, and occasionally tell you what it has been up to.

This is a very big idea for a very small screen, and I definitely do not have the hard parts solved yet. But I like the idea of a relationship that feels closer to friendship than ownership: you have your life, it has its own life, and you occasionally meet in the middle.

What would you choose: something familiar from your childhood, a cartoon version of yourself, or a completely new creature?

Really considering buying an eink tablet and deciding my price point really depends on how many uses I can get from it. I owned the first reMarkable tablet almost 10 years ago when I was in college but got rid of it because I felt that I couldn’t take notes fast enough and my text books were not easily available/readable on it.

I know eink tablets/readers have come a long way since then(including color eink) and I’m no longer in university, so I’m not reading large academic textbooks anymore. However, my screen time has increased significantly and now that I am employed, I suffer from the daily eye strain. I am looking to replace my daily notebooks/journals as well as the amount of time I’m looking at screens.

I really enjoy reading for fun but I know a tablet doesn’t have to replace my book collection (although that would save a lot of space in my home), so I’m wondering does anyone here have any thoughts/opinions about reading ebooks on tablets over regular books? Any likes or dislikes? Thank you in advance!

I have a lot of issues controlling myself when it comes to discctractions on tech, mindless scrolling etc.
E readers are great but I've only ever used kindles, are android e readers (especially colour) easy to get distracted on for someone with very little self control?

I’ve been looking at portable word processors, but they’re all expensive or out of stock, judging from what I’ve seen on amazon. I don’t want to get a typewriter to avoid using so much paper, annd I’d like a little portable thing like an freewrite (but not horridly expensive) to write on. any suggestions?

I was wondering if its worth it if I want to mainly use it for notes, calendar, and life organization as a whole?

I dropped this project for a while. Work got busy and the parts just sat on my desk. I finally got back to it.

The character in the video is not actually a cat. It is a little creature I am making for the screen. The drawing is still rough, but I got it moving on the real e-ink panel, which feels like a small step.

At some point I want to open-source the hardware. People could put their own character on it: a cartoon version of themselves, a character they loved as a kid, or something completely weird they made up.

What I do not want is a screen that just plays the same cute loop forever. I want the creature to have its own little routine. It eats, messes around, goes to school or work, meets friends. If you do not look at it for a few days, it has still been doing things. I do not want it to nag people or turn into another little chore.

That part is probably much harder than the hardware. Still trying to work out how to make it feel alive without making it busy.

What would you put on a thing like this?
