I am still stuck at $350/m, even after 5 yrs

Upvotes

I started editing videos back in 2022, I first got my computer at that time and still editing on that. I didn't realize how time flies. If I look back at my journey, I was enrolled in a university, doing bachelors and editing videos. The first 2,3 years was really painful.

Classes, editing and stuck with low income, but just today I realize that its been almost 5 years, and I still havenot able to scale my income to more than $350, yeah some month there was $400 or $450, however, the average is $300 $350 ish.

I am 26 right now, I see one the internet 22,23 yrs making millions with video editing.

the issue is I am not consistent with anything, and I dont upskill myself, but what is the main issue here is i dont have a proper guideline, i get lost in the sea of rando tutorials on youtube, and for a very long time, I had consumed most of them, however implemented not even 1%.

If you talk to me in person, you will find me as a very smart, cool guy, who follows naval ravikant, read non fiction shits, like the psycology of money, watch alex hormozi videos.

But in reality the number speak for itsself, $350 per month

I maybe the single person on earth who knows his shit, but still stuck at this income level, living in constant fear and expecting the next pay check to hit soon.

Guys, if u can leave something, I would be grateful

Thanks!

I think beginners collect editing assets instead of learning editing.

Any creative trend photo & video editing app?

I’ve been seeing a lot of creative trends on Instagram, and I’ve been wanting to try them out. But a lot of them require prompts or membership that costs money to create them. I’m not the best at creating prompts that can create the trends that I’ve been seeing, so I basically need an app that can help me do that. Recently found out about the Wink app, and it’s been pretty fun for video edits and the creative effects they have. But I’m curious what everyone else is using these days.

Have you guys tried Wink before, or any app recommendations that I can try out? Trying to explore my creativity for fun! Thanks in advance!

Help in choosing an app

So guys I wanted to learn editing so I downloaded CapCut but that sh*t kept saying that no internet connection even after multiple workarounds. I tried downloading DaVinci Resolve (Free Version) but the website was asking for my personal info so I didn't fill the form. Can anyone suggest some good alternatives for a beginner?

Software for movie edits?

Hello! How does everyone get clips from movies to use in your edits? I tried streaming them online and screen recording but the quality was always choppy. I tried screen recording streaming services (like Max, Netflix, etc…) but they make it so your recording is just black. Anyone have a good way to make movie edits? Thanks!

How do you find a clip you shot six months ago?

I discovered a tool that is similar to Google Photos. It can search through all local media, conduct online searches, and allow you to view the pictures and clips you desire.

Has anyone used PureDCP.com for their DCP Needs?

Hello everyone! I'm just putting the finishing touches on my second short film ever, and I wanted to try to get it into the festival circuit! When reading the requirements for some locals festivals, I saw the term "DCP" being thrown around. I did some research and learned a little about DCP's. Im not comfortable trying to make one myself, so I want to send my project off to a professional DCP company should my film be selected in any festivals. I found "Pure DCP", and reached out to them with some questions, and got a professionally-worded response very quicky. I was just wondering if anyone here has used this service before? I read a few forums of other editors not trusting certain DCP companies so I wanted to check if anyone had any experiences with this one?

TLDR: Anyone here used PureDCP before? Good and/or bad experiences?

Thanks!!

In need of assistance looking for clips to utilize in character edits (BEGINNER)

I'm not entirely new to editing as I've used other apps before. However, I will say that I'm a beginner at editing using AfterEffects and I want to take my current capabilities to the next level.

Usually, I just screen record for clips but I've noticed that the striking edits I really like all have 4k superior quality and I would really like to know how I can possibly apply that to my clips. I'd also like to know if there are any specific websites where I can easily find clips of the characters I'm editing and I can just download them. I feel like this way I can set a specific and consistent frame dimension for my clips in the edit too.

I've tried scenepack.com already, but it does not have any of the people I was looking for. I've done a lot of searching but it's usually just paid or straight up missing the characters I'm looking for.

For context: I usually focus on characters from gacha games (Ex. Honkai Star Rail, Wuthering Waves, Arkfield Endknights)

To sum it up:

\- I'm wondering how to make my edits have that 4k clean crisp quality
\- I'm wondering if there are any sites that contain clips of characters I'm looking for that I can just download.

Pikimov is a free video editing app

Hey everyone, I am the creator and maintainer of Pikimov, a great alternative to CapCut for short video edits.

Everything you need to create social media content is included: 2D and 3D video editing, video effects, text effects, transitions effects.
With Pikimov you can also make motion design edits (ex: to animate logos or mangas), like on Adobe After Effects.

It's free, without sign-up, without uploading any of your files online, and not bloated with AI tools !

Right now it's a desktop app only (Window, macOS and Linux), but a mobile app will come later. The development roadmap is mostly based on users requests... Need a new FX to be added, let me know!

Coming soon: particles systems!

I've designed the app interface with CapCut users in mind, so they'll feel conformable very quickly using Pikimov.

for basic video editing is there any reason not to use CapCut over paid software

so i do pretty simple video editing, cutting clips, adding music, basic text overlays, nothing that requires advanced color grading or complex effects. i've been using capcut for a while now and it handles everything i need without me having to pay for premiere or final cut.

the only hesitation i have is that i sometimes wonder if i'm missing something by not using a more traditional editing tool. like whether there are limitations i haven't run into yet or things that will become a problem as my projects get slightly more complex.

i've heard some editors have concerns about it from a data privacy standpoint given who owns it but i'm not sure how much that matters for someone just editing personal or small scale content. i'm also curious whether the editing community generally looks down on it compared to professional tools or if that's less of a thing than i think.

is there a legitimate reason to switch to something else for basic editing or is capcut genuinely the most practical option for straightforward work?

Help me with the meme and soudeffect

It's been about four years since I stopped making YouTube videos, and even TikTok videos (more recently), all because of one thing: memes, soundtracks, and sound effects. Every time I want a meme or anything else, I have to download it and then upload it to my editing software. I'd really love an app with tons of memes and soundtracks to make making videos much easier

I only have these three videos as a reference to what I am talking about. I hope one of you would tell me the name of the voice effect that was used in these clips.
