I need to build a website for my family company. The website would mainly be a product catalog/e-commerce style website with around 1000+ products (electrical equipment, tools, lighting, etc.). I would be updating and maintaing the website all by myself.

I am considering options like WordPress + WooCommerce, but I am not sure if that is still the best choice in 2026 for this type of website or if there are better alternatives

What would you recommend for:

• A self-managed website
• 1000+ products
• Good performance and SEO
• Easy product management for non-developers
• Reasonable maintenance costs

I run a small home decor brand, https://kivainteriors.com. I sell minimalist vases and pet bowls, clean modern pieces for the home.

Almost all my traffic comes from Instagram ads. Here's the strange part: people visit, and some even add a vase or a bowl to the cart, but nobody actually completes the purchase. Zero sales so far. And for some odd reason people just "drop" between the cart and checkout and I can't seem to understand why it is.

Would really appreciate honest feedback as a first-time visitor. What puts you off, where you'd bail, and whether checkout works ok on your phone since that's where most people land.

É pessoal, nunca pensei que faria um post criticando alguma coisa de plataforma, porém, dessa última vez foi demais.

O BPP do Mercado Livre simplesmente é um lixo. Sim, um lixo.

Já vendo na plataforma há cerca de 2 anos e conto nos dedos quantas vezes entrei no catálogo de outra marca e anunciei sem me precaver, e o anúncio acabou sendo derrubado.

Mas dessa vez foi o que descobri de mais absurdo.

Eu vendo os fones da marca KZ. (Ah, ele está falando do produto que vende? Sim, estou. E é justamente para vocês entenderem o que aconteceu.)

Vendo o KZ EDX PRO nos catálogos da plataforma. Tenho nota fiscal, o importador é autorizado da marca e tenho tudo certinho.

Domingo, levantei e fui dar uma olhada nos anúncios e no andamento das vendas. Fui procurar o anúncio do KZ e me deparei com uma denúncia. Na hora pensei que talvez tivesse entrado em um catálogo errado ou algo do tipo, apesar de hoje eu ter uma análise muito mais profunda e, inclusive, muitas vezes colaborar com informações dos próprios catálogos.

Até que vi a denúncia:

"KZ Eletronic denunciou que o seu produto pode ser falsificado."

E logo abaixo:

"Seu produto pode ser falsificado. KZ Eletronic alega que a marca é dele, mas não fabricou o produto."

Eu fiquei impressionado. Como que eu compro um produto importado no mercado interno, de um importador autorizado, com nota fiscal, e o meu produto é considerado falso? Ou pior: como eu estaria usando uma marca que não tenho autorização para revender, se eu estou justamente revendendo um produto original da própria marca?

Fui pesquisar mais a fundo e descobri algo ainda mais absurdo. O denunciante teria registrado no INPI a marca "KZ" e se autodeclarado como "KZ ELETRONIC", como se fosse o detentor da marca KZ de fones de ouvido (Knowledge Zenith), que é ligada à empresa chinesa Dongguan Yuanze Acoustics Technology Co., Ltd.

Ou seja, o cara registra "KZ" no INPI, anuncia no Mercado Livre se dizendo proprietário da marca e ainda denuncia anúncios de produtos originais da KZ, alegando que são falsificados.

E aí eu me pergunto: como o BPP aceita uma denúncia dessas?

É a mesma coisa que eu registrar "JBL" no INPI e começar a derrubar todo anúncio de JBL, alegando que sou proprietário da marca "JBL SOUND".

É um absurdo.

Além de tudo isso, fui pesquisar e encontrei milhares de denúncias e relatos sobre situações semelhantes. Alguns são referentes a esse mesmo denunciante no Reclame Aqui, com pessoas alegando que estão usando o sistema de má-fé. Tem até gente que fez importação própria dos produtos da marca e acabou caindo nesse tipo de denúncia.

E, para finalizar, o Mercado Livre não oferece nenhum suporte de verdade. São apenas respostas automáticas. Eles não explicam os procedimentos internos e muito menos disponibilizam um contato do BPP para resolver denúncias ou tirar dúvidas.

Simplesmente aceitam que o cara denuncie seu anúncio e pedem para você entrar em contato com o próprio denunciante.

Vocês acham mesmo que o denunciante, que está fazendo toda essa merda, vai responder: "Ah, não, realmente estou errado. Vou retirar a denúncia"?

É isso. Fica aqui meu desabafo.

Prestem muita atenção nos anúncios e catálogos que vocês utilizam. E peço que, sempre que algo assim acontecer com vocês, façam denúncias e reclamações pelo Reclame Aqui ou por outras plataformas.

Porque, se isso já está acontecendo com tanta gente, precisamos ficar atentos. Não sei se isso já se propagou, mas, pelos relatos que encontrei, parece que esse tipo de situação envolvendo denúncias de má-fé em marketplaces está longe de ser um caso isolado.

Been running my store on Shopify for about two years. It works, mostly, but the annoyances have started outweighing the convenience and the cost is getting hard to justify.

Between the plan itself, apps for basic stuff that should probably be included by default, and transaction fees on top of everything, I'm easily paying $250-300 a month for a store

Small changes turning into a fight is the other thing that gets me. Wanted to adjust something in my checkout flow last month and ended up down a rabbit hole of theme code and app conflicts for an entire afternoon. Something that should have taken ten minutes.

So I've started looking at what's out there before committing to another year of this and need help picking between these options

BigCommerce

People have mentioned better built in features so you need fewer paid apps to get basic functionality working. haven't used it so can't speak to whether that holds up.

Managed ecom builders

It's a flat monthly subscription and someone else handles the build, SEO, hosting, and updates. sites like Storebox and Ueni are doing this. Haven't tried myself but he model itself is appealing given how much time I've lost fighting Shopify's app ecosystem.

Open source options (Saleor, Medusa, PrestaShop)

self hosted, no platform fees or forced updates messing with your layout, and full control over the codebase if you or someone you hire actually knows what they're doing with it. Saleor and Medusa are the newer headless options people mention, PrestaShop has been around longer and has a bigger plugin ecosystem. the tradeoff is you're now running your own infrastructure, hosting, security patches, and any custom development yourself or paying someone to do it. seems like the right call only if you have real technical resources or budget for a developer on an ongoing basis, otherwise you're trading Shopify's fees for a different set of costs and responsibilities.

What I'm trying to figure out is whether the flexibility I'm fighting for on Shopify is flexibility I use, or whether I've just gotten used to fighting with a platform because that's what everyone recommends by default.

For anyone who's left Shopify for one of these, was the migration worth it, and what did you wish you'd known before switching.

Beyond just having a product buyers like, what's actually bringing retailers back for a second and third order?? Packaging? Follow-up cadence? Pricing?

A customer I'm working with is a DTC brand selling 250 products a day. Most customers are happy but he receives a good deal of negative reviews on Trustpilot and it's often for reasons that could be addressed with a bit more customer service.

Now, I consult for them and I was asked for solutions to the problem.

A simple solution I proposed is to give the customer a call the day they receive the items to make sure everything went well. If the customer is happy, then trigger a request for a positive review.

If he's not, then try to sort out the problem or handover a gift or something, before he leaves a negative review.

Not AI, but actual human phone calls.

They currently do this via email but customers don't care - most don;t respond.

They seem to like the but haven't tested it yet (we should in a couple of weeks).

So I'm wondering if any of you guys already do something like this? Is it working or do you use a tool or something (although I'd prefer not to)?

We're trying to build a new brand and we are thinking to improve our checkout experience because we're seeing a lot of drop-offs before payment. Speed, ease of use, COD management, payment success rate, and overall conversion are the main priorities.

I tried looking into ChatGPT and it suggested solutions like Fastrr Checkout, GoKwik, Razorpay Magic Checkout, Shiprocket Checkout, and a few others, but it's hard to tell which one actually performs better in real-world scenarios.
