Just needed to rant about the wildest sequence of events on a putter I listed recently.

1. The First Buyer: Wins the auction, pays, and then immediately messages me saying "Hey actually can you ship this to "blank address" instead?" Classic address change attempt. I tell him per eBay policy I can only ship to the checkout address. He literally sends me a link to eBay's buyer help page to prove me wrong... except the page explicitly says "Ask the seller to cancel and repurchase with the correct address." I hit cancel under "Problem with buyer's address."
2. I figure I'll just send a Second Chance Offer to the runner-up bidder at $85 to wrap this up quickly. I messaged him being completely transparent about why the first sale fell through (big mistake, apparently).
3. The runner-up buyer replies back offering $72 because "my lowest bid was 72 before that guy ran me up." I politely decline and send him a link to recent sold showing it going for well over $85.
4. He gets instantly hostile, accuses me of shill bidding on my own auction to jack up the price, and threatens to leave me a bad rating and review... on an item he never even bought.

Just got my first shipping adjustment. The sad thing is all I had to do was add 3 oz and I would have been fine. I think this was an item I had already packaged up and I just said f it, let's see what happens.

This morning I got a bizarre message. A guy said, “John . . . eBay item . . . You’re dead.” I don’t know what to make of it, it’s very unsettling. I don’t have any items up for sale except a friend and I are together selling some items (expensive clothing) of mine but they’re listed under her account. I’ve bought a handful of things recently but there were no problems. How did he get my number? And he called on a number with a voicemail message saying his name.

I got through to eBay and they’ll investigate but I don’t expect much.

Years ago, once you had completed a transaction with somebody, you could search and obtain their real contact info. eBay told me you can’t do that anymore.

Anybody have any ideas how this happened? Such a weird thing if it’s random.

Lately, within the last 2-3 weeks, my eBay tracking hasn't been updating/reflecting what the USPS tracking says. Example: I have one order that USPS tracking says has departed the post office but on eBay, it says it's just got the electronic receipt (APC). I have another order that USPS says is already a town over but eBay tracking says it's still at my local post office.

Did they do something recently that messed up the tracking updates with all the recent eBay updates or is it something wonky on my end?

Some background. I own a repair shop. On eBay I’m selling vehicle fluid for European brands. Land Rover, Porsche, BMW etc. Gear fluid, transfer case, coolant etc.
I’m selling leftover unopened bottles. Some of those fluids come with no seal. The cap is cracking open like any plastic soda bottle, it has little plastic welds that brake when you open it for the first time so you can definitely tell if it has been open or not but there is no seal like orange juice bottles have. I only sell like 5-7 bottles per month and every once in a while I get either a message saying that bottle was used so I I explain how they come and usually people ok with it.( 10 second google search confirms my words). This guy opened return and claimed that his mechanic opened the bottle(cracked the cap so it’s not a brand new sealed bottle anymore) and said that it doesn’t have a seal inside and he declined to perform the service because he can not trust the fluids. I’m not judging the mechanic cause given that the guy bought the fluid from eBay for $50 instead of buying it from a dealer for $110 he probably did the same with mechanic and went to corner tire shop instead of going to specialized European shop so they probably never seen this fluid bottle before. I explained him how it comes and pointed out that he is welcome to return it but he will be returning the bottle that’s already opened by his mechanic and can not be sold as brand new. He insist on return . What are my options here? I will accept the return cause otherwise eBay will do it for me by how do i get money back? Sold over 100 of those and never had a single issue. Do I call eBay when i receive the item back and claim that it was already opened/used? At this point how do I confirm that he didn’t use my fluid and just refilled with generic gear oil for 5.99? I know we all as a sellers go thru it with all these people but man it pisses me off. You already get s 60% discount compared to dealer and still do this.
Update : I’m not selling it dirt cheap, it’s what they go for on eBay , I just find the lowest price and price it’s dollar less for quick sale

I shipped a package thru USPS with signature required for buyer, the buyer wasn't there to sign, neither come to USPS to pickup during the pickup period. The buyer request re-delivery but now looks like the package already got lost

With the situation like, how Ebay would handle it? Would it be seller fault and do I have to end up refund to buyer? The package value is less than $1000

eBay standard envelope tracking says delivered but buyer opened a did not receive item. If I give them a refund will I still be able to file a claim or how does it all work?

Hello, right out of the bat even before the item was shipped the seller sent a lengthy message about how eBay sellers get penalized if someone uses anything but "No Longer Needed" or "Changed My Mind" for returns but I thought this was sketchy and just simply prayed the item would be fine. The item is a device and all it does is heat up and it's battery dies fast. It was used but they seemed to claim that it would be fine. It is not. I am now interested in a return and considering the seller has good reviews, I assume they refund normally but I can't afford to lose $300+ on this. What is the best way to go about this? Does this mean seller can opt to only give partial refund? My reason has nothing to fo with changing my mind or no longer needed.

Another worry is I got all state for it and I wonder how this will affect the refund if I just do what the seller says.

This is a new one for me. The buyer purchased 2 computer units from us, and then spent 5 weeks trying to make them work. We've sold 200 of these without issue. After 5 weeks, they messaged on a Friday at 6PM with multiple long chatGPT messages asking for support and a phone call. The last message is linked here. Apparently our hardware is all that stands between them and a nation-state level cyberattack.

When no one had responded by Monday at 10AM, the buyer then opened a return claiming that we sold them defective hardware and had not responded to their urgent emails.

I made a mistake I didn’t think was possible (it shouldn’t be possible)..

Ended a bunch of listings with multiple variations that were 1+ year old and then re-listed them to kind of refresh the postings. Well, a few hours later someone bought 20 items off one of the listings. Come to find out, re-listing the items DOES NOT remove the variations that sold previously.. so 11 of the 20 cards had already sold many months prior. I reached out to buyer to explain what happened and let him know that I had to cancel those lines and would issue a 100% refund and he was happy to accept as it’s an honest mistake.

Long story short, my account got dinged as below standard. I’ve always been perfect.. until this one mistake. Now I am 5.85% defective at 11/188 transactions defected. Treating this as 11 transactions is nonsense first of all.. secondly, just to get back to “above standard” 2%, I would need to sell 550 items.. that’s crazy talk

Outside of 1 honest mistake, 100% customer positive feedback over 10+ years with the 420 feedback received (including this transaction)..

Is there any point in reaching out to eBay and asking to count this as 1 transaction?

Why would this happen? I bought a digital item from someone I've bought from several times

I like that eBay takes the hit for international orders handled by them, but has anyone noticed that they return more than domestic buyers? I had 2 today. One was a for parts item they wanted to return because it...didn't work. The other was an item they asked me if they could return it while it was still in the mail.

I'm the seller. Buyer is cooperative. USPS stole contents of package but has paid me the insurance.

My question: What do I do on Ebay now about the shipping, transaction fee, and sales tax? Do I initiate a refund or does the buyer?

i ordered something and tracking shows delivered, but I never got it. most likely delivered to the wrong building in my neighborhood. usually it works out but this time the package never made its way to me. is it worth filing a USPS insurance claim or will they just point to the tracking and say I'm out of luck? has anybody tried filing a claim when tracking says delivered? I hate to lose the money but I won't bother with a claim if it's just a big waste of time.

Someone recently bought an aviation headset from me for about $650. When I used it last everything worked good but when the buyer got it apparently the sound was out in the right ear. They tried to fix it to no avail so opted to return it, which I approved. As soon as I clicked approve I realized the return address on n the eBay label I bought was my old address in a different state.

I’ve been looking everywhere for a way to correct this but there’s no option to cancel that label anywhere, I called eBay and they said “go to selling” “go to labels”, yeah no shit I know how to cancel a label when I’m sending something but I can’t when the buyer is sending a return?

And then as I’m reading Reddit for a way to fix this it’s all warnings for the buyer to not ship to a different address and just ship to the wrong address because they might not get refunded. They’ve refused to return it to a different address and I would too if I was a buyer and read threads saying not to do it.

The only option I’ve seen is to issue a refund and then send the buyer a new label from pirate ship. I wouldn’t have a problem with this but who knows if the buyer would send the item back because then they aren’t obligated to? And I also promoted the item so I think id be losing out on like $60 if I go that route but correct me if I’m wrong.

Anyways I’ll try to call eBay when they’re open but if anyone has made a dumb mistake similar to this with no way to fix it please help me

EDIT/ANSWER: I bought a new label on pirate ship, issued a refund instead of waiting for the return, which closed out the return request. Then I sent the label to the buyer and hope they actually send the item. I also put the new label and tracking number in the documentation of the refund if anything goes wrong

So this is the first time someone’s initiated a refund on me, (they wanted a partial refund, to which i declined) but they’re. stating they’re going to wait a day before doing it.

I’m not really sure why, i can’t tell if this is an attempt to see if i’ll buckle to give them a refund, but i’d much rather them just send the items back??

almost worried they’re going to send back incorrect items at this point. Is this normal or just some fear tactic?

I have PNC bank and I’ve put the routing and account number in my payout 5 times now and it takes me out the app to the browser version . Everytime I go back to the app it’s not there and it repeats .

As stated in the title, I purchased 2 items from the same seller (using the cart function), so shipping was combined for the items.

I'm trying to return them (and I am willing to pay shipping), but Ebay support is claiming that I need to send them back separately, asking me to pay shipping twice.

This seems odd to me, especially since the shipping price quoted by ebay per item is quite a bit above what I paid for shipping to my place (20 dollars to get the entire order shipped to me, 35 euros per item to ship it back). Is this the only way to ship it back to the seller?

I'm asking as a buyer. I opened a case last week after only receiving about 2/3 of the items from a listing I bought. The seller never responded, and ebay is having me return before receiving a refund. I'm glad I'm getting my money back, but I want to leave honest feedback. Is it likely to get removed just because ebay is allowing me to return? Does anybody have first hand experience with this? I've heard there was a change last year, but I've also heard that feedback can still get removed if the buyer wins the case. In my case, the seller was completely unresponsive the whole time. The item is now out of stock, but they still sell smaller packs with the items I was shorted, so I feel like they just sent me whatever they really thought was fair for the price and then stopped selling that listing.

If the feedback does get removed, does ebay at least keep track of how many cases are opened against them? I hate to think that people had tons of negative experiences before me that I couldn't see because they were removed.

What do I do I just sold a wolf toaster on eBay and after selling it for 300 I only got 220 back and I sent it out in a brand new box from Walmart. I bought that day with bubble wrap and packing paper. Now the buyer sent me pictures of it completely destroyed 8 holes in the box and about 6 dents all over the side of it and wants a refund and sent pictures of it without any of the bubble wrap and claimed I didn’t protect it in shipping what do I do bite the bullet on it?

I purchased a camera lens from a listing claiming it's in the United States. I found out after the item shipped that it was actually Hong Kong. No big deal, I can wait and I got it for a fairly decent price. I received the item no problem (after 2 weeks) and still filed a complaint with eBay since the seller lied to me in an email assuring me it was shipping from the US. Since I received the item eBay did nothing. Now, yesterday, I received a bill for international shipping fees. Do I have any recourse?

My package was lost for 2 weeks and I filed a missing mail request which I never had to do before but my package resurfaced at a post office father away than before it was lost

Does this mean that it’s found or it is something else, why would it be in Atlanta when it was already so close to Michigan

Also my usps tracking doesn’t have anything about the arrival in Atlanta as well as filling the missing mail report

So my buyer says "I’d like a refund please"

So what do i follow up with ?
