Plumber recommendations

My HOA is telling me that I need to have my water heater inspected and possibly replaced because it is over 10 years old, even though it is functioning properly with no issues and no visible corrosion. Does anyone have any recommendations for an honest plumber who could perform the inspection? I just have visions that whomever I call will tell me that I need to have the perfectly sound water heater replaced at an exorbitant cost regardless of its condition.

[Hiring $80/hr] Seeking Actress for role in short film & YT comedy series [Seattle/Kirkland/Bellevue]

PROJECT: Whitebelt (short film) & Clockwork (new companion YouTube comedy series)

ROLE: Female Lead — Non-Speaking for film & soeaking for series

CHANNEL: https://youtube.com/@clockworkproductions-h6q?si=tHPRX8Y0-QfOPZ0J

LOCATION: Seattle Eastside (Redmond / Kirkland / Bellevue), WA

COMPENSATION: Paid — $80/hr, paid same-day (Zelle; Venmo negotiable)

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Whitebelt is a dialogue-free short film — a stylized psychological piece about discipline, illusion, and self-improvement, told entirely through visual storytelling and sound design. It's being made both as a standalone festival submission and as the tonal foundation for Clockwork, a companion YouTube mockumentary-comedy series exploring the same character's world with real trained strikers already cast for its sparring sequences.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're casting the female lead — a non-speaking role that appears across several scenes, functioning as both a photographed memory and a recurring, dreamlike presence within the film. This is a physical and expressive role rather than a dialogue-driven one: it calls for comfort with movement and controlled physicality on camera. A background in dance, martial arts, or athletic performance is a strong plus — this is a performance built through movement, not a look-based casting call. Prior acting experience is welcomed but not required.

No romantic or physical content of any kind is involved.

PRODUCTION DETAILS

Age range: 25–35

Shoot schedule: One shoot day in August, Saturday or Sunday, 5–9pm (some flexibility available)

Contract scope: This engagement covers the short film. There's an optional path to appear in 1–3 episodes of the companion series afterward — a separate conversation, only if it's of interest to you.

Usage: Planned for YouTube release; may be submitted to film festivals first depending on the final result.

TO APPLY

Please send:

  1. Any relevant acting, dance, or movement/athletic background

  2. Your general availability in August

Confirmation you're local to or able to travel to the Eastside area

Interested applicants will receive a script excerpt and further project details ahead of a scheduled introductory call with the team via Zoom or Google Meet.

Thank you for considering — happy to answer any questions along the way.

Home cleaning prices

I’ve seen some older threads but wondering if anyone would be willing to share their current house cleaning rate and if you’re happy with them? It would be helpful to know their rate, hours they spend, size of house and frequency.

Today I was quoted $240 per visit for two people, it’s a 3,000 square foot house but two bedrooms aren’t included. The only thing that surprised me is they said it should take about an hour per visit. That would mean I’m effectively paying $120 per hour which seems high to me - if it really only takes them an hour.

Anyways I appreciate any info/referrals!

Edit: We clarified with the cleaners and they said it should take around 2.5 hours for a team of two so it sounds like it was just a miscommunication earlier. Still interested to hear peoples experience though!

Safety heads-up – Bellevue Way, today ~10:45am July 22

I was walking my dog on Bellevue Way and when I got to Primos, near the north end of the KeyBank shopping plaza, I noticed a woman across the street yelling profanities. She was stocky, wearing a brown jacket and brown pants, with medium-length brown hair, brown skin.

I looked over because she was the only other person around and it caught my attention. Once she noticed I'd looked, she started pointing and yelling louder...I couldn't make out most of it over the traffic. She then crossed the street against traffic, dodging cars, to chase me. I walked quickly / ran, south on Bellevue Way, and by the time I reached Columbia Bank, I looked back and saw she'd headed the other direction....thank goodness.

I called 911 to report it. I'm fine, but this is the first time I've felt physically unsafe in Bellevue, and I wanted to give folks in the area a heads-up.

I've also reached out to Bellevue City Council about it.

To be clear, I have no idea where this woman is from or whether her presence is transit-related in any way — I'm not making that connection here.

But separately, I think free transit rides must stop. We need a physical barrier to enforce payment to ride light rail and bus. No free rides is an actionable step within our control, that's easy to enforce, that will make the community safer, regardless of this specific incident.

For what it's worth, I am a huge proponent of light rail -- I love it! But, I carry pepper gel and a Birdie sound alarm with me because of the unstable, wackadoodle people I have seen on light rail... mentally unwell people without an agenda except to make trouble.

Feel free to also call the city council, speak to the Bellevue Light Rail Unit (BLU), contact Sound Transit.

Stay safe out there.

Where are the frogs?

To me, the sound of frogs is a very characteristic sound of summer. I used to leave my windows open and late at night when it was otherwise very quiet, I could hear the sound of frogs singing in the distance. I haven’t heard them recently. Is there anywhere I can go to hear the sounds of frogs?

Mary Silva is an anti Israel and anti Jewish conspiracy theory nut job.

The Herald newspaper just published a story on all the 7 candidates running in district 1 in the state of Washington. It clearly shows that The Herald newspaper just published a story on all the 7 candidates running in district 1 in the state of Washington. It clearly shows that Mary Silva is an anti Israel and anti Jewish conspiracy theory nut job. After this interview was published in the Herald. The Republican Party of King County pulled back their endorsement of Mary Silva.

https://www.heraldnet.com/2026/07/15/seven-candidates-seek-district-1-congressional-seat/

Mary Silva

Silva, 46, is an audiologist. She lives in Everett and is running as a Republican.

Her top priorities include addressing the rising cost of living and bringing cyber technology and manufacturing industries to the United States, she said in a July 1 interview.

To improve affordability, Silva said she would look to implement tax incentives for small and medium-sized businesses to grow the economy and get more competition. She said she would also pressure states like Washington to revamp their tax systems and reduce the overall tax burden.

To bring technology back to Washington, Silva also said she would use tax incentives to attract companies while also implementing new, stricter security rules to prevent cyber attacks and sabotage.

“If you’re going to be a giant multinational corporation, there’s going to be rules if you want U.S. taxpayer contracts,” Silva said.

She said she would consult with economic and national security experts to develop the constraints.

On healthcare, Silva said that she would consider breaking up large corporations like United Health Group, because she said companies offering both insurance and healthcare coverage amounted to monopolizing. Silva also said she would be a proponent of individual choice when it comes to public health decisions, citing government policies from the COVID-19 pandemic she saw as “unconscionable.”

“It was absolutely ridiculous what they put people through,” Silva said. “The level of anxiety, the unhappiness that happened as a result, and it was basically for, you know, a strong flu.”

About 1.2 million people have died from COVID-19 since the start of 2020, according to CDC data.

Regarding immigration, Silva said the country benefits from hard-working immigrants but it also needs to protect its borders.

“I am not against immigrants,” Silva said. “What I have a problem with is opening the borders to let anyone and everyone through who may or may not benefit us, and in some cases, they harm us.”

On the environment, Silva said she is “not a big believer in the climate change narrative that we’ve been sold,” but she said that she would support policies that maintain the land and forests in Washington.

“It’s good to be good stewards of the land, but as far as capitalizing off of people’s fears about what’s happening with climate change and things like that, we need to consider, I think, the reality a little bit more and just do our best not to destroy where we’re living,” Silva said.

Nearly all scientists studying the Earth’s climate believe that the human burning of fossil fuels has warmed the Earth’s surface and is impacting its climate through more frequent and severe extreme weather events.

Other priorities Silva would hope to undertake if elected include addressing money laundering from the sale of illegal drugs, ending mail-in voting, auditing the Pentagon and opening another investigation into the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, she wrote in a July 2 email.

In a 2024 Ballotpedia statement, Silva wrote that she was educated by a number of writers, some of which have espoused various conspiracy theories. Among the writers that inspired her were Christopher Bollyn, William Cooper and G. Edward Griffin, she wrote in her 2024 Ballotpedia survey.

Bollyn’s writings, which have been criticized as antisemitic, state that he believes the American media and government are controlled by a “Jewish faction” and that the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks were “an Israeli-produced false-flag terror spectacle.” (They were not).

Cooper, at one point, had claimed that a U.S. President signed a treaty with aliens, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. Sheriff’s deputies in Arizona killed him during a shootout with law enforcement after he spent years on the run for tax evasion, the LA Times reported in 2001.

In a recorded interview, Cooper stated his belief that HIV/AIDS was a man-made disease “implemented into the population as a population control.” (That is false. Research has shown the likely origins of HIV emerging from chimpanzees and gorillas in west central Africa).

Griffin is the founder of the Red Pill Expo, a gathering with noted conspiracy theorist Alex Jones listed as a speaker during the 2026 event. According to MediaMatters, Griffin stated that there “isn’t even such a thing as HIV” on a 2010 radio broadcast, referring to the disease that killed an estimated 630,000 people in 2024.

In response to follow-up questions about the listed authors, Silva wrote in an email Tuesday that the authors have produced “sincere documented evidence over the years” but she does not agree with everything they have said and done.

On Bollyn, Silva wrote that he had produced “the most well-referenced work on 911 you could hope to find.”.

private office to share by hours

I have a 2 person office to share, it is between Factoria mall and Eastgate and near I-90. I am using it by myself now.

I would like to share it based on hours. You can have the office 2 hours per day for 300 dollars a month or 3 hours per day for 400 dollars a month. For example, you can have the whole office every day from 9am-11am for 300 dollars a month. Minimum 3 months. Available now. Pretty spacious and super clean, super quiet and well managed office building. The floor has kitchen, free coffee and tea.

The usual hourly rate for this office is 30 dollars per hour so this price is pretty good. If you feel you need committed hours to do something for a period of time or feel you need to be away from home for a couple of hours per day, this is a perfect place. Time period is negotiable.

Anyone remember Moeida in Woodinville?

Since they closed, my family has been looking for an alternative teriyaki place that is of comparable quality, especially in regards to the side sautéed vegetables. We liked their takeout quality and price. Best teriyaki we had nearby.

Anyone know of above average Teriyaki spots on the eastside similar to Woodinville‘s former Moeida Korean Bistro?

Rail lines questions

Ok, so this might be a stupid question, but I’ve been wondering about it for a while. So why have they been ripping out all the railroad tracks, when we’ve been struggling to get light rail all up the Eastside for decades? Why not use those rail lines? Probably mostly a moot point at this juncture, but The rail lines used to go all the way from Renton up through Bellevue, Kirkland and into Woodinville. I used to ride that line on the Washington Dinner Train back in the day. Seems like it would have been perfect for commuter rail. Any ideas?
