Ive “lowered” my car from M Sport to Bilstein B12 Pro and then fixed all the bushings, arms, tie rods, etc, basically a full suspension refresh.

Car now sits on “lowered” suspension higher than it sat on “higher” stock suspension, because it was tired and sagging.

The 17 inch wheels are much more comfortable tbh.

My old indicator lenses somehow melted. Lmao

Just bought an e46 and was wondering what this thing on the side is.

I have an E46 sedan 316i to be exact and my goal is to bring it back to as stock condition as i can and also upgrade things with oem parts only, but i noticed that coupe E46's trim on the sides is paint matched while all sedans seem to have it black and idk if i should paint match it?

I dont exactly know how to explain what im talking about, but you can see the black line that goes across the side of the car and matches with the black trim on both bumpers aswell, well that same trim is in the color of the body on coupe versions and it lowkey looks much better.

I dont know if it will seem tacky and bad if i paint match them on my car? I dont want my car to look modified and tuned i want it to look maintained and taken care of, but i like how that trim in body color would match with the door handles that are also colored.

Would you ever do this on your car?

In case you didn't know (because I didn't), some E46s are subject to a recall for airbags that explode like hand grenades; you can check your VIN on the BMW website.

I saw some reddit post here that said that some E46's might be a part of this recall and that we should check it out, so i did and this is what it says. I dont even know what should i do and is that recall thing free?

Now I have to hunt for some 68mm center caps.

A hardtop has come up for sale in my area for $2750 CAD (1950 USD). The headliner has started to sag, and it does NOT come up with the mounting kit. I do have the mounting kit on my car as it is a Canadian market one, but I just feel like the asking price for just the hardtop without the kit is just a bit much. It will be 4k by the time I get it painted and the headliner fixed.

Hardtops are so rare that it is hard to find good datapoints for the price. What would you guys think it is worth?

Looking for deep-sounding E46 330i/330Ci exhaust clips (no rasp)

I’m trying to find examples of E46 inline-sixes that have a deep, smooth tone without the raspy “tin can” sound a lot of setups have. If you have one, could you attach a video (idle + a few revs or a drive-by if possible)?

I’m trying to figure out which setup gives the deepest tone while keeping rasp to a minimum. Thanks!

*I'm only looking for modified exhaust setups (axle-back, cat-back, headers, resonator changes, etc.). I've already heard the stock exhaust and I'm trying to find the deepest aftermarket setup without rasp.*

Does anybody know how to make them stop breaking? Or where I can source actual new ones I’m tired of going to pick n pull and grabbing new ones

So i recently had my transmission fixed but it has lost a lot of oil. I looked up online for lifeguardfluid 5 but that stuff is like 20 euros a litre and since i dont know 100% if the leak is gone i think its a waste to put expensive oil in it. I know there is mannol dexron 3 8206, but i dont know if that will mix well, does anyone have any further information on this?

Hey guys. I’ve been trying to diagnose this rattle when accelerating for quite some time.
I haven’t taken a deep dive. It doesn’t affect power or anything. Just really loud.
I’m sure one of you has had this before.
Engine sounds normal otherwise.

Once I finally started to understand the cause & affect of how the computer plays into these ignorant ass decisions & how my car has basically been running in limp mode since I got it..

This seems as logical as expecting a donut to replace the tire entirely & not eventually run into more shit down the (literal) road.

I expected to use 75% of a tank to get four hrs, i ended up using maybe ~60% WHICH IS HUGE to me considering i just used a fuel injector cleaner, & started running the 93 gas. .

(ugh, see other post- thats a whole nother shit show)

the night before he replaced the ignition coils, & did a smoke test, everything went well on that as far as ik.

im not sure if the dash lights went off bc he reset the codes or bc he did the coils & reset the codes BUT, it was running way better.

i had asked if

1. he still had the other set of tires, as one of mine has deep cracks on the side.

2. to do an oil change w the right oil, considering i discovered he had been using 10-w30 (consistently, on top of using 89 fuel.. long term.)

what does he do? while im asleep starts messing w the ac (that has not worked since I got the car in feb.)

I actually posted if I could make it back w how he had left the wiper motor off & everything.. anyways..

when he threw a fit, he came out the side door while i was on the porch. my nieve ass was hoping he was putting back what he took apart- nope. took the new coils out, & put the old back in.

he also stole my mf gas cap,

From what i'm understanding. . that basically set the computer back to no bueno- not even understanding the cats aren't there type shit? im PISSED, but the best thing i can do is figure it out myself.

my buddy scanned it today, cylinders 1, 4 and 5 are misfiring, & i think he said something about too much fuel, which makes sense. If what I'm reading is correct about the computer over compensating? And injecting more fuel into something? and that the air something about the intake i believe.

I get paid tomorrow & plan on getting the ignition coils, an oil change so im using the proper oil, & the gas cap.

I am VERY VERY greatful to have a couple of people more mechanically inclined to help along the way- any suggestions on where to start or even what not to do (intentionally or unintentionally) is appreciated!!!

does any1 know ( in europe) where to get the plastic parts of the M steering wheel ? buying this used for 100€ and it has a small crack in the plastic which i wanna replace

I have a relatively new to me zhp. It's a babied enthusiast owned car but also fairly original 135k car.

Original clutch etc. it had the original transmission "lifetime" fluid and I exchanged it with Pentosin MT oil.

The car shifts ok but feels a bit notchy, maybe crunchy. I feel slight resistance at times shifting into gear. I granny shift already. Sometimes double clutch (should do that more). NO grinding gears.

Sometimes it shifts without resistance or impediment. Other times it feels like "gears" need to mesh together to get a clean shift. If I feel resistance I can gently baby it in other times I will back out and try to shift again.

I am not sure if I should try a different trans fluid, check levels, try a hydraulic clutch fluid flush, go right into a clutch job, or if it's disaster mode and I need new synchros. I think im catastrophizing a bit on the synchros since it feels like this for most gears. Second is most pronounced

Is this how your zhp or e46 feels? Or do you shift smoothly without resistance?

New and first time e46 (318 2.0ci) automatic owner. Still getting my head around the maintenance etc. Im getting this issue at idle the past few days. I put in a new throttle body this morning and replaced the ignition coils, was going to do these anyway as the car hadnt been driven in some years. No warnings on the dash and nothing is showing wrong in diagnostics so im a bit out of my depth. Any help appreciated!
