We have an FAQ! Help populate it
We have the same 3 topics every day and it's cluttering the sub. "What do you think of this E30" and "What do I look for in an E30" are the ones I'm going to start deleting (soon).
We do have an FAQ with the absolute basics. If that. So help us out by suggesting or even writing the content that goes into it.

1800 for rear trailing arm and subframe bushings a lot?
Just did my front control arms and steering rack myself. It wasn’t too difficult but definitely annoying since the car had some seized bolts. I no longer have a place to keep my car jacked up for a few nights so I have to take it to a shop. The rear definitely looks way harder. The shop quoted me 1250 for the trailing arms which is pretty fair but the sub frame bushings are 750? Which I was thinking everything is already off pretty much with the trailing arms so wouldn’t the sub frame bushings only take like an hour to do? This is without alignment and everything. Just bushings

Recently bought
Just got this 88 325i automatic from marketplace for 350. Ngl there is definitely a lot of work to be done especially some bad rust spots but that’s part of that uphill push right? lol but I alr got a replacement engine from an 86 325e manual. Despite all this work I’m hyped to get to work. Any advice is appreciated 🙏🏽🔥

Quick GSP Axle Review
The whole job took me about 4.5 hours but install was decent. One of my GSP axles came with grease in the diff flange mount holes?? They were also misaligned so the bolts could not go through properly (PITA)
The axle shaft also seemed to not have any paint so I quickly sprayed some rustoleum high heat (not pictured)
Rubber boot quality seemed similar to OEM.
Overall 4/10 but will see how long these last. Cost me about $230CAD with shipping

Tech question Help! E30 325i Fuel Gauge always at full.
Hi everyone, I recently replaced my fuel pump on my E30 (pre-lci) and the immersion pipe sender, now my fuel gauge is showing the right fuel level only when the car is in ignition 2 but when the fuel pump is working it‘s going to full and stays there. I checked every ground cable and ground connection and everything is clean and connected. When I am driving it sometimes goes back a little bit but it doesn‘t show the right fuel level. I checked everything and I can not find the issue.

Replacement vanos fitted
Thanks for everybodys comments and well wishes for my engine after my vanos on the s50b32 blew its solonoids out, and squirted all the oil out.
I got the day off work and spent it getting it sorted. Decided to leave my old splined shafts in the hubs as i'd recently done anti rattle on them. This way you dont disturb the timing, you just undo the splined shafts off of the vanos unit and just change the unit.
When i took the cap off the replacement unit to remove the splined shaft, i found that whoever rebuilt it had overtightened the nut and snapped the hex end off the shaft (pictured). Meant the only way to get the shaft out was to cut the end off (pictured). So lucky my shafts were good.
Im having a few beers now after grafting all day, left the engine without oil because i want all the sealants to cure before i fill it, and am waiting for a new oil filter anyway. (Lucky enough to have a parts shop two doors up from me). Fingers crossed that when i fire it up its ok.

Where to get used working parts
Guys I see some sensors on eBay go for $300. But local shops sell the used ones for $10. Where to buy used parts online?

Schneller Parts Price Help
I got this kidney grill and the eyebrows from a box of parts and they came off a Schneller E30 car which I have never heard of before. Does anyone have any idea on the pricing for these? Trying to sell a lot of parts to be able to make some money after painting my car 😂 Lmk if anyone can find previously sold items or ideas on prices, thanks!

Vanos died today
So today was on the way home from work, and my vanos which has been slightly leaking and causing occasional loss of power and annoying cutting out on a hot start decided to force its own bolts out of the housing. Looks like it took the threads with it. S50b32 engine. Thing is ive already bought a replacement but haven't had time to replace it.
Massive loss of power on the motorway, and oil smoke billowing out from behind me, hoping only from the oil on the manifold, not out the exhaust. Still had oil pressure when i pulled up so fingers crossed no harm done. Just awaiting rescue.

Small Project Update: strut bar on convertible
I recently made a post asking for advice about installing a strut bar on my 320i Convertible, and I have to say I’m impressed by how much of a difference it makes!
- The handling has improved (you don’t need to drive fast through corners to notice it).
- The cowl shake on the convertible is significantly reduced.
- The steering feels a bit “heavier” (maybe that’s just placebo, haha).
- It feels much more stable at 140–150 km/h on the German Autobahn.
To be honest, I didn’t expect it to make such a noticeable improvement!
To anyone with a convertible: this is a no-brainer, even if your E30 is more of a cruiser (like mine).

Sport Seat repair and re-dye to cardinal red
My original interior was torn up comfort cloth. I assembled black door cards, tan front sport seats, and stained tan rear seats, and decided to go with one color. My E30 is Delphin Gray, so I figured cardinal red would be a perfect match.
Figured I’d share this here, the result has been fantastic, and it was relatively cheap ($350) for the supplies. You will need an air compressor and paint gun though to spray the dye.
I have sweated on these seats in 106F heat and it didn’t lift the dye after about 48 hours of drying, so I am thrilled with the result.
I used leatherique and provided them with the cardinal red interior color code. If anyone has any specific questions feel free to ask.
