I hope I'm posting this in the right sub. I just wanted to say that... I'm not really sure how to explain it. I struggle with anxiety and racing thoughts a lot and Sunn O))) helps me cope. Like the long droning guitars are so calming. And I can feel my racing thoughts pause for a bit. Especially when I listen in my headphones. It's like a wall of soundwaves that just shuts out all the noise for a while. I hope to go to one of their concerts one day. Thank you so much for reading. It genuinely means a lot.❤️

As long as I'm sequencing, I thought maybe the occasional organ or synth could be cool. In one demo, I've even got a sine wave playing kind of a spooky arpeggio as the song is ending.
I'm fairly new to the genre and I'm wondering how common it is for "electronic" elements to appear in the genre, and how it is perceived in general.
I've heard some interesting elements in the music of "Low Toner".
At the end of the day, I'll probably do what I think serves the song best, but I am just curious about the community's feelings on the incorporation of synthesizers, electronic drums, etc.
AND I'm interested in knowing about artists that might lean into that.
Hello, some of you may know me as the 16 year old who wrote "Goat Smoker" by "Face Scraper". My name is Damien, for those who don't know, and now I'm 17! As you've probably seen, I've been quite inactive on the medias for Face Scraper. Reason for it is, I've been struggling pretty horribly mentally, and writing that genre of metal has gotten pretty straining on my brain, I lost motivation for it, lost confidence and lost a lot of care in general. I wanted to do something where I didn't have to try, I could just do shit, and I wouldn't have to worry about things like "does this sound good?", "is my guitar wall of sound sexy enough?", "is this meaningful enough", "does this express me?", or "should I start smoking pot to make better sludge metal?". So, coming out of a writing block from February till late May, in 14 days I composed 5 full songs, from a song as reference that I released in January this year, as well as an intro and outro track. In the alternative metal/post-hardcore genre.
I wont promote it much because its not metal, but just search "A Message for You <3" on any streaming platform if you're interested in hearing what I've been doing recently.
Anyways, point of this post was to say, the "Face Scraper" sludge metal project has come to an end. There is "new" material coming to all streaming platforms soon (remastered singles and the hidden track from the CD), and every release is free to download on Bandcamp.
Thank you all for your support on my journey writing sludge metal music, and I apologize that it has come to an end. But, new music of different sounds is always in the works.
Hello all! I have a weekly Dungeons & Dragons podcast and I also happen to love doom and stoner metal. Are there any doom bands in this sub that would let us use a snippet of one of their songs for a theme song? I think it’s such a rad idea and we will give you credit in every episode description. I hope this doesn’t come across as begging or asking for free shit, just thought this was a good place to ask as I’ve seen some bands in the comments here.
So, I'm a guitarist but his wouldn't work so I ended up with a bass, which i tuned down to C and actually plugged it in a guitar amp (I know it's risky). He played drums, but it was his first time. What do you think?
After a lot of work (and a few months of waiting), the vinyl has finally arrived!
This is the self-titled debut album from Sun Dog, my UK-based solo project. It’s been a long process, especially as some of the songs were written many years ago, but finally holding an album i made, in my hands, on vinyl is an amazing experience!
The digital download is available for free in FLAC, and the album will also be appearing on some of the Doom YouTube channels over the next few days.
Wanted to share it here first because this is such an awesome community.
Now don't get me wrong, Dopethrone and Come my Fanatics are great albums and there's no doubt that they are some of the most important albums in doom metal history, that being said there is something just so indescribable about their first album that I can't put to words but it's just awesome, does anyone know what I'm talking about or am I just going crazy?
