So this is something that has always bugged me with martials going back to antiquity honestly...

Martials have always been hamstrung by this stubborn adherence to "realism" that casters never get stuck with. Especially at later levels. Like im sorry but no, Aragorn is not a high level martial. He is like... level 5.

I feel a perfect sign of how limited martials are is actually seeing some of the footage leading up to the MinMax play group where David and Clark tested jf they could move and strike like a high level martial... and they could. And they are normal humans in the normal world limited by reality. Contrast this to Wizards, druids, warlocks, and what have you that are altering reality itself.

Honestly I feel like a High level fighter should be looking like something you see in anime, not your standard fantasy. Jumping dozens of feet in the air and striking at enemies, being able to jump off of floating/falling debris to navigate (think like Stark from Freiren), attacking at range with the sheer force of their melee attacks, create difficult terrain by stomping or striking the ground, etc. Like when you get to level like... 15 Honestly martials should be able to do things that defy logic because they are just that damned powerful.

What are yours guys thoughts though?

Green hags can change their appearance at will, which is particularly useful for Nanny Muk, who likes to get around. At least she's honest in her profile.

Lester will either have the time of his life, or end up a drained, soulless husk. Or both. He'd probably be OK with either result.

Nanny Muk was the first hag my party met (technically; Kayra was still human at the time). She took the form of a sweet old lady before things went sideways and our ranger lost his soul.

Neri is an OC my dear anonymous costumer commissioned me to! She is a half elf Abjuration wizard who loves to sew and add to her cloak and clothing in her downtime. Unlike most wizards, Neri does not have a spellbook. Instead she embroiders enchanted ink into her cloak which serves as her spellbook (note the embroidery kit hehe). Her favorite color is pink, which is usually the color of her magic when it isn't elemental. She is very much a flirt, and likes to attend high society even though she is not of noble birth.

This is a piece by the incredible Pearl-Jam-Bud of my character Alexandria the Satyr Hero. The artist did a fantastic job with her jewelry, gold tattoos, and her blue flames.

The character is inspired by classical Greek heroes: Perseus, Odysseus, Heracles, but is heavily inspired by Dionysus in all his forms (Mycenaean, Orphic, Olympian). She loves the thrill of adventure and new people, and believes that the purpose of life is to enjoy it and enjoy it with others.

So I’ve been playing a Druid for a while now, and I feel like moonbeam is kinda crazy? For context, I am playing a Stars druid in a campaign that’s been going for a while now (9th level) and moonbeam oftentimes still feels like the best option in combat scenarios.

It was basically one of the first spells I chose when building the character, and it functioned fine. But now we’re level 9, and I still see myself doing moonbeam+dragon form for reliable talent on concentration saves pretty often. Moonbeam deals LevelOfSpelld10 when I cast or move it, and again on the enemy’s turn, for 4d10(sometimes halved) per round with just a 2nd level spell slot, or 10d10 with a 5th level spell. That just feels like a lot to me? Add to that the fact that it only costs me one spell slot to do and I can do it every single encounter at varying levels. So yeah, very good damage with crazy sustain.

Now I don’t have to play optimally of course, And I also use my beloved polymorph:t-rex+starry dragon form and Guardian of nature: great tree+archer starry form for 2spell attacks with advantage for decent damage per round, but there’s still that little voice in the back of my head saying I could just do more damage by casting moonbeam and staying in the back.

Tldr: Is moonbeam really that good? Or am I overlooking something?

Edit: my playgroup uses a mix of 2014 and 2024 rules where we can kinda pick and choose which versions of things we use (we have an experienced dm and everything is excellently balanced), but my character is mostly 2014 rules.

About to start an online game with strangers. Their sheets are posted in the discord thread. When I looked at the one person’s sheet, I noticed his stats crazy high.

When I mentioned this, he immediately posted the above video as proof.

In looking at the two videos I noticed of the 4 d6 dice used, two were bigger than the other two. Those bigger dice rolled twenty 6’s out of twenty four rolls.

The odds of that are 1 in 806 billion.

I guess the term "Death Knight" means a lot of different things to different people, so I guess I'll lay out what it means to me:

A plate-armor wearing, two-handed sword wielding, necromantic warrior.

Trying to combine powers of necromancy with martial armor and weapons just doesn't seem to really "gel" in any meaningful way, as far as I can tell. I guess trying to weave magic and martials is always kind of tricky, but I'm just surprised how rare this seems to be -- and frankly, doesn't even really seem possible unless you're starting above level 10.

I love the idea of having a front-line combatant that has some power over necromancy -- speaking with the dead, flavorful stuff like that, maybe a minion or some minor spells as a ranged fallback -- but try as I might, I just can't find anything that quite hits the spot.

Maybe there are some lesser known options I might ought to look into?

As I've stated before, I'm in the process of writing Nyakan's SRD for my homebrew world of Eit. At the request of one of my players, I wanted to share an item that has made for some great moments in our campaign: Merchant's Dream.

Merchant's Dream started off as an ask from one of my players. Specifically, he asked for a way to "write off damage". I took that request a bit literally and decided that a set of armor that makes gold itself a defensive resource was kind of cool, and now here we are!

If you, like me, sometimes struggle with the party having a bit too much gold, this armor is a great way to remedy that, while also giving your table some great narrative moments. Cash Advance has saved my party on more than one occasion, and Debt Collections ability to truly turn a PC mortal for a few sessions made for some of the best combat I've ever ran.

I also wanted to share some lore from the SRD about Merchant's Dream, for anyone who's interested:

Merchant's Dream was forged by the harengon smith Rimbas Bisquo, who was commissioned, and I do mean commissioned, by Vistokul the Free himself, for one of his children. That child was Yunir. And look, I'll be diplomatic about it: Yunir was hopeless with a blade. Genuinely, embarrassingly hopeless. But what he lacked in martial prowess, he made up for tenfold in backing, because standing behind him was the full financial weight of Lethamyr, the City of Trees.

So Vistokul, ever the pragmatist, looked at the problem and arrived at the obvious godly solution: don't teach the boy to fight. Let him buy his way out of dying instead.

And Rimbas built exactly that.

D'Duruk the Barbarian

This is my second remake of my old fantasy portrait series.

I think this portrait gave me some texture I need for rough characters...

Our beloved Orc of Daleko od Noży. Battle-scarred and broad-shouldered, D'Duruk is a rough, roguish charmer with a crooked grin and a stubborn heart.

Gruff on the surface but fiercely loyal, he relies on instinct, strength, and wit to survive, winning allies with equal parts intimidation, humor, and unexpected warmth.

2.you will be reborn and need to go through the same backstory you give your character

1. You can alter how the story goes but a mysterious force will try to make you have a 1 to 1 scenario as the already finish campaign

EDIT: For anyone who is a DM. Drag one of your player to posses their PC than make them pray to you to communicate and have them spread your faith. The mysterious force will be agaist you tho by twisting possibility and other way to keep the story one to one with how you play it the first time. :)

My party recently traveled to the Feywild, where they discovered that Guevald, my paladin, is actually from there.

For personal reasons, they had always worn a veil that covered their face and concealed their eyes.

Once they entered the plane, my character decided to stop wearing the veil and act as the group's guide through this unfamiliar land.

Since this part of the campaign would have Guevald opening up more about their past, I decided to paint a new portrait.

I may or may not have said a certain npc fell to their death. I kinda just want him to be knocked out, though. It’s not a major npc or bbeg or anything it’s just a random guy who slipped and fell

Years of guarding caravans, drilling with mercenaries, and surviving impossible contracts shaped him into a level headed warrior. Has a very dry sense of humor. Somehow his hair always looks perfect, even in battle.

In a recent session the party rescued a magic item merchant from a villain. This merchant is largely a con man, selling magical items such as the Cowbell of Invisibility and such, and has been a recurring character.

He does, however, have legitimate magical items to offer for those who can pay and he trusts. Bearing that in mind, what kind of gift or boon might the merchant offer to the party in thanks?

I want to come up with something more interesting than a discount at his shop or a free item or something. Anyone have any fun ideas? The more zany and bizarre the better.

Edit: Loving a lot of the ideas! I was however thinking something the party could really use, not just another joke item. I should have been more clear. An idea I've been kicking around is that Leif (the merchant) is himself owed a favor by some powerful being that the party can call on for aid. Or something.

A young priestess devoted to a Spider God. Chosen as a child to serve as her voice, she walks a path where faith is unquestioned, but respect has to be earned. (Being a kid and a spiritual leader is not an easy feat)

Each dawn, her robes are woven anew by the faithful, a sacred ritual symbolizing her bond with the deity. This painting is part of a larger worldbuilding project exploring the campaign setting.
