Hi, everyone! I usually build Gunpla, but I decided to try something new and dive into the world of dioramas. Here's my first project.

I tried to convey a sense of abandonment and decay through the ruined buildings, cracks in the sidewalk, and small pieces of debris.

I'd love to hear constructive criticism and advice from experienced diorama builders! What could I improve for my next project?

Hi everybody!

After months of tip-toeing around my fear of failure I've finally delved into diorama-making. My first one is a small desert/canyon dio for 1:12 scale. I tried to do a lot of research on smaller rock formations and carve some different things so I can keep it modular.

I might be overly self-critical but something about them just seem off like they are too blocky and 'unnatural'. If someone in here has experience with larger rocks I would really appreciate some critique/pointers before I base and paint them.

I’ve got about 45 hrs in this lighthouse, all hand made from cardboard and styrofoam. Hope everyone likes it.

I'm making a diorama for a Mr Roger's / Peewee's Playhouse inspired drag show. The diorama will be featured in an intro Theme Song that sets the tone for the live show.

The base is made with cardboard, spray foam, foam clay, and paint, with grass made of yarn and a mix of spackle and paint for the drive way.

The house is made of cardboard with foam clay on it, painted and gloss mod podged.

The house has a wig change.

Coming soon: satellite dish on top and room decorations for all the residents of this queer playhouse/artist commune/tv broadcasting station.

Hi guys im making a split diorama for the first time ever (and for a uni photo shoot competition ) (it’s around a shoe box size lol), and i need help making realistic things with limited materials :((, my idea was half a polluted destroyed brownish sky cracked ground side with little shrubs while the other side would have Fuax trees a bright blue sky white clouds and fuax grass on it, I have the grass as it’s a patch of realistic fake grass , but im not sure on how to make the treees or cracked ground, I have air dry clay and acrylic paint that’s about it lmao, any advice please? Im gonna start making dioramas in my free time so its a first time experience :)) thanks again

I'm looking to glue on some graffiti and posters I printed onto paper and cut out; if I could get some advice on:

Glueing the graffiti to be as flush as possible with no wrinkles (what adhesive, and fitting tech ique, top coat or spray)

Glueing posters onto the surface, getting them to have a worn look with curled edges as if they've been hanging for a while in bad weather.

Inspired by horror films such as Dead Snow and Outpost. Kit is the 1:48 Tamiya tiger and the miniatures were sourced from myminifactory

I cleared a circle around this tree, then the edge grew tall grass. I want to build a mini city state inside the circle, with a train that runs thru it, ideally it would be left outside.

Any suggestions? I was thinking start with the train to use that for scale? So far I'm only seeing kid style toy trains

I am working on a 1:48 scale model of my apartment. I don’t have ready access to a woodshop or good tools. I can book 2 hours a month on the public library laser cutter, and then the rest is just whatever I have at home.

My real-life apartment has a round bay window on the north side, that is highlighted green in the picture. The advice I’ve seen from google and Reddit searches has to do with building a semi-hexagon or semi-octagon, but that’s not round enough for my purposes. What is the best way to build this part on the model?

My current idea is to build a scaffold out of wood, get the shape right with a wire frame, and then papier-mâché or plaster to smooth it out. Will that even work? Will it be too obviously discontinuous?

Just finished up laying down most paint/washes. Now it's time to crack down on some accessory work to pull it together and then my first attempt at "still water" in the canal portion.

I made this diorama using Tamiya US Infantry miniatures, Tamiya sandbags, as well as some AK products too. The wet effect is made by using AK puddles, mixed with a brown paint.

Hey everyone!

Just finished up project—a custom Spartan warrior diorama inspired by the Battle of Thermopylae.

Everything you see here was 3D printed and hand-painted, from the metallic brass weathering on the hoplon shields and helmet down to the ground work and tufts. I really wanted to capture that dark, cinematic atmosphere of the Hot Gates, complete with the shield wall in the background.

A few details on the build:

• Scale: Custom scale print
• Finish: Hand-painted with acrylics, featuring multi-layer weathering, battle damage, and metallic washes
• Base: Custom rock wall and textured groundwork
