Those who have this book, can they tell me is it good for someone wanting scientific words that can last them from middle school to even college? I want words like anemometer, and similar words. Do not care about words like doomscrolling or like that. Can anyone tell me?

Hopescrolling

You heard it here first (maybe not? but that's ok). I noticed Wikipedia had Doomscrolling. So I made a point to add Hopescrolling to Wikipedia. It's already a concept, so why can't it be a word?

Is Emphatic the right word for this?

I called a singers performance Emphatic. What I really wanted to convey was they had a strong and passionate voice. I also didn't want to use boring words. Is this completely wrong, or does Emphatic make sense?

Other Webster’s Edition Clarification

I recently came across a Webster’s Dictionary I used to keep in my childhood bedroom. I like the idea of having a physical dictionary again, but it’s the 11th Edition, which was published exactly 23 years ago.

Is it worth keeping or should I look for an updated version? Obviously, it still functions as a dictionary, but I know that they’ve added tens of thousands of words/terms since then. I’d like a dependable, physical, reference-point.

Anyone need it for their collection? Lol

Other Request for not so well-known dictionaries

Greetings! I am searching for general English dictionaries that may be classified as obscure or not popular that have a similar style and purpose as any other common dictionary (like: OED, Collins, Chambers, Merriam-Webster, etc.) Here is a list of what I am already tracking: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Appendix:Bibliography/English.

I have already combed through Wikipedia's Category:English dictionaries, but I believe there must be more out there. Do you guys know of any?
