Any tips for engagement saree styling/makeup hair as I’m doing my own makeup. The third pic is AI generated just to give me an idea of how it would look after the blouse/accessory comes together. But do you guys have any recommendation on jewellery/bangles and the makeup. Thank you in advance for helping a girl out 🥰

Sooo, after searching everywhere I found this dress which was somewhat “unique”
Im getting a matching white dupatta on it made

I wanna know if it looks bridal enough ?
It is for my Nikkah which will be an event of 250-300 people and my groom is wearing a white kurta with maybe a jacket.

I tried blingy dresses but it felt like theyre taking the focus away from my face and this felt as close to simple as I got to get while looking bridal.
I loved the design on the bottom but im not sure about the top.

1-my dress
2,3- inspos and groom will wear something similar

HELP ME DECIDE! 🌀 Red bridal Saree with veil

I am going nuts over deciding whether to splurge on a 50k-1L lehenga or a designer saree for my intimate 70 people wedding. I am a North Indian and my side of family wears heavy lehenga even if they are just simply a guest. Do you think this saree along with the veil would be bridal worthy and I won’t regret later 🥹 Help me please!!

Shop/store suggestions❓ Saree Shopping in Delhi

Upvotes

Hi! Does anyone have any suggestions on where I could find a black saree for a family-member’s reception? Looking in Delhi (specifically Pitampura) with a budget under 20000 Rs. I have a vision of a Gaurav Gupta type look but not that grand, but with some of the structured elements.

Outfit / Styling advice 🥻 Another white person asking for guest styling advice!

My husband and I are guests at our first Desi wedding and I'm trying to style myself appropriately, particularly for jewelry! It'll be a traditional South Indian wedding, so I'm assuming on the more elaborate side. Despite trying a few local vendors (my options in my region appear to be limited), I wound up submitting an order from PanashIndia, which I'm still waiting on.

The Haldi/ Mehendi are being held together, and went with this lehenga. I hope I didn't go too formal.
We asked about an attire change for the day of the ceremony/ reception, and was told not to worry about that, so I chose a sari.

What I'm now trying to do is figure out my jewelry situation. Gold, obviously, to match the embellishments of both outfits. Bangles for both- planning on assembling something complimentary. Probably more for the ceremony/reception day and less for the haldi/mehendi day.

But I'm overwhelmed at the options for necklaces, earrings, and +/- tikka, and whether or not wearing all of them together is even appropriate for a guest.

Discussion Type b person getting married and worried I am not doing enough

I have a type B personality, Im pretty laid bak and I feel like I’m not stressing about the finer details about the wedding. The wedding is in December and we are yet to figure out a decorator and a photographer. But there are so many small things that i am not aware of and I see other people’s wedding vlog and go like oh yeah I have to think about that.

A part of the reason is that i don’t live in the same city as where the wedding is taking place so my parents and in laws are taking care of it. But I can’t help but feel guilty for taking it too easy. Is there any advice you might have for me?

I’m not looking for a wedding planner as the scale of the wedding is too small. (As in its only haldi, and two weddings)

This is a simple cotton saree but I am thinking about pairing it with a golden sleeveless blouse with some work on it. I am not sure if it's going to be too simple to wear as bride's sister.

What do you all think?

After lot of research, I have found a lot of western style wedding dress tailors in HCM, but hoping someone can help share recommendations and their experience with wedding tailors in Da Nang/Hoi An area.

I have had great experiences with tailors in Hoi An in the past, but more causal style.

Discussion I’m scared I’m losing myself after getting engaged. Am I overthinking?

I am getting married to my boyfriend. I’m Maharashtrian and middle class, while he is Tamil and from a much wealthier family. I love him and the main reason I chose him is because I feel completely free and myself with him.

But I’m really struggling with his family.

His mother is kind, but she loves grand things and cares a lot about what relatives will think. I’m a simple person. Whenever I show her something I like for the wedding, she says it isn’t grand enough. She bought me a ₹50k saree even though I said I wanted something simple. At one ceremony, I wore a Maharashtrian bindi that I loved, and she came and changed it because she didn't like it.

There was also an issue where his family initially expected gold from my parents because relatives would see what I was wearing. My family couldn't afford much, and after many arguments my fiancé spoke to them and they stopped asking. My parents are still scared I might be judged later.

My fiancé does support me and tells his mother to let me choose. But I’m scared this will continue forever. Today it’s the wedding, tomorrow it could be the baby shower, naming ceremony, house, etc. I worry that every major decision will become about what his family wants and what relatives will think.

I also struggle to say no to elders. I freeze and stay quiet because I don't want to be disrespectful.

I feel exhausted and sometimes regret my decision, even though I love my fiancé. I feel like I worked so hard to build my independence and freedom, and now I’m scared I’ll lose it after marriage.

I genuinely wanted a close relationship with his parents, but now I feel emotionally distant and scared.

Am I overthinking this?

Rant/Vent ⚡ How do I set boundaries with my future in-laws’ extended family a month before the wedding?

First-time poster here. My fiancé and I are getting married in under a month. For context, he is Indian-American and I am Chinese-American. The wedding is mostly Western with a few elements of his family’s traditions woven in, like the baraat and the sangeet the night before.

We’re paying for the wedding entirely ourselves. Both our families are immigrants who earn considerably less than we do, and we’d never expect them to contribute. We’re grateful to be in a position to cover it.

My question is about his extended family — specifically the aunties, who are noticeably better off than his immediate family and may be used to weddings where guests are catered to more extensively.

For the past few months I’ve been getting texts asking about accommodations, the menu, and how the baraat is going to go. The questions don’t feel neutral; they feel like openings for opinions. Our plated dinner originally had a vegetarian option that leaned Chinese, and I got feedback that “the Indians won’t enjoy it.” For context, Indian vegetarians make up less than 10% of our guest list. I didn’t want to start things off badly, so we changed the dish with our caterer at the last minute to be a classically Indian dish.

The latest ask is when they will be getting their hair and makeup done. My fiancé’s mother had raised the same question on behalf of her friends to us, and my fiancé told her directly that we don’t have the bandwidth to arrange or pay for their HMU. Despite this, they have still reached out to me. I sent them multiple vetted options (we are getting married in a mountain town, not a big city, so there aren’t a ton of HMU vendors) and the response was not that of gratitude, but a critique that these options were too expensive.

Am I overreacting, or is this outside the norm? I want to be a gracious host, but I’m exhausted by requests landing this late, and it’s starting to feel like we’re being taken advantage of. How would you respond without damaging the relationship?

✳️Wedding planning help✳️ Marriage preps tips?

Drop anything you wish you knew it before your marriage.

I would also like to know how many clothes should I make casual and fancy both. Should i get them ready made or get them customised?

How many footwear and bags are appropriate?

Which salon should I choose for my baraat makeup? There are makeups ranging from twenty five to 2 lacs so i am confused.
Is it the expensive it is the good it is?

✳️Wedding planning help✳️ Chennai Based wedding planners

Hi guys,

Due to an unforseen turn of events, I plan to get married in a month (end of Aug/early September) in Chennai. Currently I am in the US and trying to plan the event. What is the budget that we can expect for the wedding planners? We had an original 15-20L type of wedding. Due to the short notice, I think the guest list might have shrunk from 600 to 300-400 people per event. We are thinking of a wedding, reception and a couple of Pooja before the wedding.

Please help currently if there are any wedding planners that we could hire. Not really sure how much we are expected to shell out because of the additional wedding planner but since both our parents are old it could really help us.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks!!

Is this appropriate for my mehendi?

Is anyone able to suggest places in Northern India (Punjab) or online selling to Australia that sell an outfit like this?

Close up of embroidery style included.

Ideally to fit size 48-50.

Could you possibly identify what this style of lehenga and embroidery is?

Looking for a suitable outfit for mehendi celebration in a multicultural wedding in Australia.

Shop/store suggestions❓ Pune - Designer or Ladies Tailor

Hi Everyone,

Help a girl!

Could you please recommend any designer or ladies tailor who would stitch anything and everything at reasonable prices. If you can also share how has your experience been and did they do justice to the reference image that you showed.

Also, it would be helpful if you could share from where I can buy the material or fabric at a decent price.

Thank you.

Vendor/venue Recommendations❓ Planning a wedding in Bangalore - Nov 2026? MUST READ!

Hi everyone,

I'm posting in case this helps someone with upcoming wedding plans.

My family had booked room inventory at a 5-star hotel in Bangalore for my brother's wedding from **20–22 November 2026**. Unfortunately, the wedding has been postponed, so the reservation is no longer needed.

Rather than letting the booking go unused, we're looking to see if another wedding party or large group can take over the reservation (subject to the hotel's transfer policies). The booking is for 150 rooms and the average cost is ~30k/room/night.

If you're planning a wedding or event in Bangalore during those dates and are looking for availability at a 5-star hotel, feel free to send me a DM. I'm happy to share the hotel name, room details, and discuss the logistics.

Thanks!

Discussion South Indian Saree blouse embroidary

Unpopular opinion? I feel like blouses these days have so much embroidary that it takes away from the beauty of kancheepuram sarees. The blouses almost appear lehenga like or north indian style. What do people think?EDIT: See second pic for embroidary blouse. First blouse has no embroidary but has borders added to enhance it

Rant/Vent ⚡ Parents taking over wedding

We are having a wedding that my parents are primarily paying for - for one day. I will be paying them back. I would have liked to have a wedding a little
Later and do it my way/ pay for myself. They will have many most guests than me. My dad says his friends are more important because they known them for 30 years and I’ve only known my friends for 10-20 years. They get mad at every decision I make and want me to include them in every decision down to the color of decorations.

Anything I tell them, they don’t believe me. They have to ask other people, and then they believe it. My judgment is never trusted.

It’s a two day wedding for both religions. One day his parents are paying and the next they are, with us chipping in on both ends. there are two websites- one for just one wedding and one for two. They have started adding people without asking me to the event with two weddings but sent them the website with one event. 1. They aren’t asking me 2. They should have told me this before invites were sent out and I would have added them. It looks so rude to be like hey, switch over to this website now you’re invited to two things.

The most important thing is they are not listening to our child free rule. It’s on our site. My to be husband’s family and friends are not bring on kids. His cousin’s husband is even staying at home with their child. My friends’ children aren’t coming. We have invited a total of 3 children- 2 are in our bridal party and one is an infant that I want to meet (who isn’t even coming). They added children who already rsvped. Children are being added. I had a melt down and I said no more kids. My mom’s friend’s daughter asked if she could bring her infant. I said no and my dad said I have to let her come and some more kids will come that he is going to ask. I said no. He will not listen. I reached out to her direct and explained the situation kindly and stated that I would still like for her to come! My dad is saying he’s going to message her and tell her to essentially ignore my message and bring her baby. I am to the point where I honestly want to cancel. The rsvp is coming up, but I can’t take it anymore. They are not respecting me and my partner’s wishes. I keep telling my partner I am cancelling the wedding and I can tell he is getting sad about it and saying I want to marry you. How can I have my wedding but avoid more kids and the constant guest change? How can I avoid my every part of my wedding being controlled?

Oh and lastly, they have guests from india starting at their house. I told them that me and my partner won’t be staying there then. We have to come in early but we can’t be in a full house. We also wouldn’t be allowed to sleep in the same room.. even tho we are legally already married. I can’t deal with a ton of people on the week of my wedding. I don’t care who it is. It could be a house full of friends and I would have the same reaction.
