Hear me out, because I can't stop thinking about this.

Every time I switch jobs, I leave a seat behind. Someone fills it. And whoever I'm replacing left their seat too, so someone fills that. We're all just backfilling each other in a big slow loop, except we do it blind, through recruiters and job boards that take a cut and drag it out for months only to rely on 98% luck of finding us with 2% of our actual calibre.

So why don't we cut them out and hand the chairs to each other directly?

When I'm about to leave my role, I refer you straight into it. I already know the team, the manager, the pay, whether it's actually worth taking. That's worth more to you than anything a recruiter can say. Then when you move up later, you do the same for whoever's behind you. We all climb a rung, and every handoff goes through someone who actually knows the job.

So I'll start. I'll drop my company, the role I'd be leaving, and my current comp. If you're up for it, do the same, then scan the thread for the seat you'd want next and message that person.

Worst case, nothing happens and we all learn what people really get paid. Best case, a few of us quietly route around the whole broken thing.

i've been enrolled in a bootcamp(data engineering) for about a year now and i'm confident in my skills atleast for entry level roles. i'm based in Ethiopia and i can say that there's almost no data engineering jobs here ,there're very few open positions for data analyst or scientists which requires atleast 4years experience and you know that remote jobs are even more competitive and struggling for entry levels. the only tech roles here seems to be backend devs,frontend and fullstack(there're tons of jobs ).what should i do ,i love data but the market is really bad here. thanks
