Not my content but wanted to share. Been trying to find some non-biased view of the game and this has been the most promising. Never backed Camelot unchained but I’ve been following the progression, played DAOC since 2003.

It’s in early access on steam. Anybody gonna try if? I personally am going to wait a year or more

This is the first of a few videos my friend and I made while playing on Mordred. I will post them up as I get around to it, they aren't much but maybe you will see yourself or someone you recognize in the footage.

Enjoy!

Anyone tried RealmPulse?

Has anyone tried this new UI thing and are Eden okay with it?

I see it's an overlay, I've been working on something like this myself but not made this much progress by far!

Scout help

Can any Scout mains explain a little about the different bow shot styles? I started a Scout a few days ago and I'm not sure which shots I should be using most and for what situations. Would really appreciate some advice on how to play this class correctly.

Hibernia, Eden

Hi, I started playing a bit yesterday, and am digging the game. I have a decent MMO background (mostly vanilla WoW) but never played this and could use some help learning and having people to group with. I think I’m level 16 or so now. (Valewalker)

I always wanted to play this since I saw it on the show “Portal” as a kid, but never got to.

I am working on a DAoC Template Optimizer tool - RealmSmith

I don't generally post on here, mostly I just lurk lol. However, I wanted to share a project I've been working on because of my love for DAoC.

Basically, it's an auto-templating (template optimizer) tool for live DAoC. You set Stat / Resistance / ToA Bonus / Mythical Bonus / and Item Ability Goals on the Goals page and RealmSmith takes those goals and turns them into a template for you.

Would anyone be able to take a look at the screenshots and provide any feedback on the generated Smite Cleric template? The website is still a WIP and I'm not the best at determining what makes a "good" template for most classes so I was hoping to get some insight from some fellow DAoC enthusiasts that may be more experienced on the matter than myself.

Up to Date Quest and Item Database for a Private Server?

Hey fellow daoc enjoyers, funny request - I am setting up my own private server just for fun using OpenDAOC (which has been awesome) and noticed that there really aren't any modern quests or items that come prepackaged with that repo.

I searched online for something like this, but came up empty handed and thought that someone else must have had a similar idea at some point.

Does anyone have the database sql already created to pull the more modern quests and items that exist on Live? I am thinking about something similar to the new journey quests that exist, or the other quests that were added later to the game for some of the early zones. If those don't exist, is there something similar to the questlines that appear on Eden or the old pheonix server that can be readily imported into my existing quest table?

I'm basically just looking for something to do while I explore zones, and thought it would be fun to play through the quests as I go.

I look for original Daoc classic weapon formula tables please.

If anyone has such an old table or a link, would appreciate it.

The live weapon formula overview is just for +up to date+ daoc and i need it for classic daoc :)

Otherwise you can find it here for live daoc:

Looking for information regarding 1.87-era Underhill pets from live.

I was looking around old patch notes and trying to dig up information around the Underhill pets. I've been working on a Mordred-like PVP server as a solo for-fun vibecoding project but wasn't sure how to balance or enhance this class.

I looked at old patch notes and came across this.

 - The Underhill Ally now has access to Blunt styles.
 - The Underhill Compatriot now has access to Blade styles.
 - The Underhill Friend now has access to Piercing and Critical styles.
 - The Underhill Friend now has chance to proc a Damage Over Time Spell (DoT) while in combat.
 - The Underhill Ally and Compatriot can now equip shields when commanded.

Does anyone know what styles they actually had access to? I'm very curious if maybe they had something like snare styles? Seems like it would be useful for solo enchanters.

Also did giving an ally and compatriot a shield actually have any meaningful gameplay impact like blocking?

Eden- Are Thanes viable tanks for KU?

Hi,

I used to farm darkspire on Midgard on phoenix and have the urge to start running KU for some sick rogs. I have a RR5 thane that I’m not playing that much that I could temp to shield tank.

I could grab MoBlock6, Parry 3, purge2 and some aug quick and be a tanky mfer (in my mind)

Would this work at all? What’s the popular group setup for Midgard KU?

Thank you.

I might skip Blackthorn --- because of all the crazy "balance ideas"

First of all, I am sorry that this reflection may be a bit long.

I've played classic freeshards like Uthgard 1&2, Origin, Phoenix, Atlas...etc., and I have high hopes for the upcoming Blackthorn.

Recently, I participated in the beta test, and I'd like to share Blackthorn's strengths and weaknesses in my opinion.

First, I must commend the developers; they've made the PvE process incredibly fun, making exploring areas a truly enjoyable experience.

1) Regional announcements inform you of nearby kill quests and even provide the current con and direction.

2) Nearby named mobs will also display directions.

3) Each Zone is divided into many smaller areas; exploring/unlocking each area grants exp.

4) After defeating a named mob in a group, a treasure chest sometimes spawns, offering extra rewards.

5) Porting are unlocked after reaching various towns, which is very convenient; buying a horse riding ticket no longer requires handing it to the merchant.

6) For standard quests, NPCs will always inform you of the rewards; simply use `/finish` to claim them upon completion.

7) Upgrading your trading skills will also grant you exp. The /craft UI for the trading skill is also very convenient, with features such as automatically purchasing missing materials and setting consecutive crafting attempts.

I think these changes greatly enhance the DAoC PvE experience, which is fantastic!

Next, I'll share why I think Blackthorn might be unbearable: the developers seem obsessed with their own "balance idea," unable to break free.

The reason lies in Dev's continuous changes to too many core gameplay elements of DAoC, including class design, style changes, and even the entire game mechanics.

1) First, Dev claims it's a "Tweaked Classes based on patch 1.65 level" design.

However, if you open the Wiki, the style changes are so numerous they're unrecognizable.

Honestly, if Dev dislike patch 1.65 so much, why use that version?

The new style patch 1.8x is also acceptable; both are DAoC designs.

Personally, I think the new style & new RA are the most perfect designs DAoC has achieved after years of RvR refinement.

Using either a new style or old style patch, or mixed version are OK, as they all come from DAoC.

2) The poison application system has been changed to drag and drop poison during combat, which is ridiculous.

Applying poison while fighting --- does this design make common sense?

Placing the weapon in the values or trade slots automatically cancel the poison application.

This reflects Dev's contradictory thinking: they don't want players to use the /switch command, but they also don't want to go back to the traditional drag-and-drop weapon switching --- it shows Dev lacks a good Product Manager, becoming like a headless fly, unsure of which direction to change things.

3) Archery: "Crit Shot can no longer be used against targets moving faster than the default run speed (default meaning without sprint), and CS and Volley will grant the target an immunity buff for 30 seconds."

This completely deviates from the classic DAoC design.

I still remember even back in 2004 MLF, my Shaman, in an 8-man guild team at speed 6, was shot by a Scout near AMG; one arrow CS with heavy dmg over 1K, and the second CS dropped the rest hp.

Archers in patch 1.65 were already in a bad state; See Hiden RA specifically targets them, and further nerfing their attack power --- where's the fun in that?

4) There are too many messy class changes; For example, they nerfed Armsman Polearm's signature style, Anytime Snare, and almost halved the famous Defender's Rage GR. It's great to see that Dev has finally taken a step back towards restoring them. Due to space limitations, I'll just give another one example. Veteran players know that Valewalker was one of the biggest beneficiaries of the patch 1.8x new style system because the original design was so bad that nobody wanted to play it.

However, we see that Dev's understanding is: "Valewalker is in a good spot, to the point where retouching is not really needed, other than the level 2 style."

I think it's a pity that Dev lacks an experienced Product Manager to do the overall planning.

Dev's core thinking is somewhat like this: they (or players QQ) believe certain classes are too strong, then Dev weakens them, ideally to the point where two players can fight each other for 10 minutes without a clear winner.

My suggestion is to reverse the thinking and give each class a strength.

When you do that, everyone has a chance to win, and players will enjoy playing each class.

As they said, "We are aware that too much customization can be harmful to immersion and authenticity," and indeed, you've really changed too much now.

Ich suche alte Weggefährten vom deutschen Server Avalon/Albion. / Looking for old pals from the German Server Avalon/Albion
