Misc. I built a free, self-hosted cyberpunk VTT
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
My friends and I were about to run a cyberpunk campaign, and I wanted something more immersive than a folder of location notes. So I built an interactive map where players could create and share notes live.
Then I had a thought: what if this were hosted, and my friends could just join via a URL? One thing led to another, and a few weeks of work later, here's City_Net.
It's fully self-hosted (Docker or manual), no third-party accounts, no subscriptions. You run it, you share a link, and your players connect.
What it does:
Generate a living city — procedural districts, roads, and traffic
Draw your own — custom roads, water, districts, and buildings, saved for later
Multiple city maps — save, load, and switch between entire cities instantly
Simultaneous battle map play — drop battle maps into any building and run multiple at once, loaded from local files or existing uploads, per-map measurement scaling
Persistent enemies & allies — placed per map
Notes on buildings — add notes directly to any structure; players can request to add their own notes, and buildings with notes stand out
Custom signs — with full custom font and picture support
Player Banks — built-in banking system
Dice rolling — right in the app
Streamer mode — a broadcast-safe spectator view, ready in seconds
Collaborative building — grant friends access to help construct the city
Everything's real-time — everyone sees changes live.
Happy to answer any questions and get some feedback!
EDIT:
By popular demand, I have added install scripts for Windows, Mac, and Linux
Please take the warning to heart!! NEVER RUN SCRIPTS FROM AN UNTRUSTED SOURCE
EDIT2:
CITY_NET 1.4.0: Cyberpunk Red character sheets and rule sets are out!
Also made a Discord to get feedback and answer questions

Fan Art & Story Time Netrunner: Notre_DAMN
Hello everyone this is my trash goblin. They're a reformed shut-in that goes outside wearing an "urban ghillie suit" AKA trash that's been glued together for Optimal Stealth.
Third image is how they looked at the beginning of the campaign. Since then, they've gotten blown up once and nearly died a total of THREE hot times. Also cyberwear augmentation. They have issues though so they kept their own bones from the surgery and had them inlaid on their cyberarm.
Extra eyes are chemskin tats! They emote faster than Notre's actual eyes.
Context for comic is us breaking into a Continental Brands conapt with the tagline "a different flavor for every floor". Having a stunning 2 Cool, Notre immediately stuck their tongue out and tasted the wall. It tasted like a wall.

2040's Discussion Untested, Probably Bad, But Definitely Funny Idea: Cards Against Humanity For Complications
So I was rotting my brain earlier, and saw this: https://youtube.com/shorts/rKhmJ6DXQfU?si=TGxvHuN6ridrL9Re
My first thought was using Cards Against Humanity to replace the Tarot Crits, but I think that will probably screw with balance mechanics too much.
Instead, I think GMs might be able to use the white cards as a sort of free-association prompt for complications during play.
A few white card examples:
Boobies
Drop in a joytoy or someone watching a XXX-rated BD into the scene as a complication. For combat, maybe it's an innocent bystander who literally walks through the firefight. For social interactions, it's an escort who's convinced your PCs have more cash than their current date, and are trying to trade up.
The miracle of childbirth
Pregnant woman goes into labor during the scene. Typically more interesting if they are of higher social status than the characters, since helping them frames up a favor owed to the PCs.
A cooler full of organs
Easy enough to include during a scav hunt. But if you're in an upscale part of town, maybe that's a particular hobby of a really weird corpo, "Oh yes, I'm trying to collect one of every organ!" Or maybe someone's transporting some of them between hospitals.
Bacon that can feel pain
Cops get shot near the PCs during the next scene; may mistakenly ID the PCs as the shooters.
No idea if this works, but I bet it could be very fun to try!

2040's Discussion Does Prone do anything but prevent Movement?
As per the rules, afaik it only mentions, that you *can't move* until you spend your action to stand up from prone but that is literally all it says.
You can still shoot, attack with melee, evade attacks, etc. - anything that isn't moving.
I'm assuming this is for simplicitys sake, but it can be hard to imagine doing some of these actions as effectly while lying on the floor.
Do you just accept this as part of keeping combat flow quick and easy or do you homebrew any additional negative effects for being prone?
I was thinking about maybe using the "Complex action" negative modifier and give actions a -2 or maybe add a seperate -4 modifier for being prone next time, since that's still easy enough.

2040's Discussion About META in the 40s
From the core rulebook concerning META.
“Because it is a patch language much like LINUX, META is not very good at supporting graphics, so the huge graphical interfaces of the old NET couldn't be supported. So, now things look a little different. No, scratch that. Things look a lot different.”
But then it moves on without explaining how it looks different. I’m in the difficult position of being a GM without much knowledge of how computers actually work, a bit of a handicap with this genre, I’d say. But I need to be able to describe what the players are looking at. How is it different now? It’s not good at supporting graphics, so does that mean it’s back to like the IBM computers in the 80s? No mouse, we’re typing on a Fallout style green screen? When a denizen of Night City sits down at a computer, what are they looking at? What is on the screen of an Agent? Is it buttons and tabs like an Android? What are we looking at?
Or, am I missing something obvious.

2040's Discussion Is it reasonable to have a character that lived in NUSA (like east coast) and moved to Night City?
I know next to nothing about the state of the world outside of Night City. Could a character just get in a car and drive to Night City? Or are there dangers/obstacles preventing that? What kinda place is the NUSA? Are they as developed as Night City? Is there as much corpo influence? Would a character still be traveling "in the NUSA" as they went from east coast to west coast? Or is it just deserted land with basically nothing there?

Community Content & Resources Abandoned maglev station that's become Night City's biggest smuggler hub
Been away for a bit, and just finished my latest cyberpunk battlemap: an Underground Maglev Smuggler Hub.
The idea was to create a location that feels like one of those places everyone in Night City knows exists...but nobody officially acknowledges.
An abandoned transit station has become a neutral meeting ground for smugglers, fixers and black-market traders. Cargo arrives on unregistered maintenance trains before being broken down in storage yards, stripped in illegal chop shops or sold in a bustling underground night market.
One feature I'm particularly happy with is a huge vertical transit shaft running through the station, where hover vehicles travel between underground levels beneath a suspended service walkway. It makes for some fun tactical possibilities during firefights and chases.
To make the location more reusable, I've produced three versions of the map:
Operational – Business is running normally and deals are happening.
Sealed – Security shutters isolate sections of the station while checkpoints lock everything down.
Blackout – Power is cut, emergency lighting flickers and every faction is suddenly looking out for themselves.
I've also included one of my Ops Briefs with job hooks, security posture, escalation triggers and environmental pressures so it's easy to drop into a session.
I'd love to know what kind of jobs you'd run here. Cargo theft? Extraction? Arms deal gone wrong? Something else entirely?
If you'd like to see more images (or grab the full pack), it's available at vdcyber. Link in the comments.

Misc. I'm about to chip in and drag some friends with me.
I'm a 15 year TTRPG veteran, I've been running games for about 10 of those. Mostly within 5th Edition, FATE and Edge of the Empire (amongst others.)
Experienced Cyberpunk RED DMs - what advice do you have for someone moving from mostly D&D 5th over to Cyberpunk? Particularly in terms of running the game, but also some advice on how best to help my players adapt from 5th would be welcome.

2040's Discussion Does being prone affect your ability to evade?
Hey, brand new GM here with a question about dodging while prone.
Lets say three gonks get into a brawl. One of them knows Taekwondo and lays the second flat on their ass with a flying kick. Can the second dodge a melee attack from the third while prone on the ground?
Or is the third able to aim a kick directly at their head, for a guaranteed curbstomp?
Curious since according the FAQ guaranteed aimed melee attacks are possible when the target is unaware, because they cannot dodge.
But the core book doesn't really mention much about the prone state, just that it takes an action to get up and you cannot move. But does that mean you cannot dodge?
I think I would homebrew it as a malus to evasion, perhaps -2. Does anyone know if there is a official RAW ruling?

Community Content & Resources ‘Chipping In For The First Time’ Or Where To Start?
Hey there. First time Cyperpunk Red player longtime fan of the franchise ever since I discovered it though. Recently picked up a book for me and my pals to try out and was wondering if anyone could recommend anything to go along with it. I know CPR has a few other books and hadn’t thought about grabbing them yet, but I wanted to hear the community’s opinions or recommendations for anything homebrew or rules lawyer compliant for how to get into it all a bit more easily or helps make games and building characters more interesting!
Any other help or tips is always appreciated as well!

2040's Discussion Martial Arts Analysis - Taekwondo
Sup choombas, Heavy Armor Lizard here. Today, we're gonna cover Taekwondo
Here's a list of my MA posts:
https://www.reddit.com/r/cyberpunkred/comments/1qkw1g0/infernoxs_martial_arts_master_page/
Taekwondo Overview
This form is all about Action denial. Pressure Point Strike can be used to give the enemy a Spinal Injury, taking away their Action, or be aimed to give a Brain Injury which is a -2 to all Actions. Then Flying Kick allows you to kick someone and knock them prone.
Only downside with this form is that using both moves require high stats (WILL & BODY 8) and are ROF1.
Other Forms
All except Arasaka-te, Arnis, Choy Li Fut, Jujutsu, Krav Maga, Kung Fu, Muay Thai, Sov-System, Sumo, Thamoc, & Wrestling
No synergy with the moves. That said, Tai Chi is a good fit since you can use Joint Manipulation and Pressure Point Strike to utterly deny a melee enemy from doing anything in a fight.
Arasaka-te
Rating: 5/5
Pressure Point Strike can be Aimed with a -8 and is an Attack so Counter Strike can turn that into a -5 instead.
Arnis
Rating: 4.5/5
Coordinated Combination doesn't work with Taekwondo. However, you can perform Disarming Technique then perform Pressure Point Strike or Flying Kick to really deny the enemy in a fight.
Choy Li Fut
Rating: 4.5/5
Since you can't use the moves with Sweeping Fist, then we're gonna use it with Shaolin Step. Since Choy Li Fut and Flying Kick require high MOVE, we can do Flying Kick then immediately reposition thanks to Shaolin Step.
Jujutsu
Rating: 5/5
Pressure Point Strike and Flying Kick benefit from Aiki so it doesn't hurt to use it.
Krav Maga
Rating: 4/5
Contact Combat ain't gonna flow with Taekwondo's moves but Punishing Blow can be used alongside Pressure Point Strike or Flying Kick. And if Punishing Blow DOES cause a crit, then do Contact Combat.
Kung Fu
Rating: 4/5
First, Attack with Five Forms. Then, use Pressure Point Strike or Flying Kick with the second form.
Muay Thai
Rating: 5/5
First turn, hit with at least one Brawling Attack. Next turn, activate Conditioned Power. Then, use your higher damage on Pressure Point Strike or Flying Kick. A 5d6 Pressure Point Strike is gonna sting.
Sov-System
Rating: 2.5/5
Since Taekwondo's moves take up an entire Action, this means you can only chain either one with Revenge Strike and that only happens if you received a Critical Injury from a Melee Attack.
Sumo
Rating: 5/5
Nirimiai for that Facedown bonus. Successful Facedown means an easier chance landing PPS or FK.
Thamoc
Rating: 4.5/5
Pressure Point Strike can be Aimed and is considered an Attack so you can launch it at a -5 which can be lowered to a -4 with a Targeting Scope. Just remember you need to be in the grapple and pass that DV15 while you have the grapple penalty.
Wrestling
Rating: 4.5/5
Like all combos with Wrestling, the -2 penalty is gonna be a mess with Chokehold but you can really mess up an enemy. When you grapple, immediately Chokehold. Next turn, Chokehold again then follow up with Pressure Point Strike which doesn't require a DV check.

2070's Discussion Trauma Team in 2070s
I've read lots of posts and things online that my mind is going crazy right now.
In 2077 are the subscriptions just like in Red? (silver and executive)
then in the handbook it says that the silver doesn't cover the surgery needed but I've heard somewhere that you also have to pay for the bullet they shoot or the gas for AV. Is it true?

2040's Discussion i need help with some rules
im running a game of cyberpunk red: eassy mode between me and some friends, i got put the duty of hosting/being the gm for the session, i was wondering about some rules.
firstly what is "move action. every turn a character gets a move action, which can only beused to move a number of m/yds equal to their move x 2-" i dont understand what they mean when they say "MOVE x 2", does it mean the movement times 2? ot the move action then a second move action in place of the any action.
secondly what is time? as in "taking extra time. taking extra time can also give you a bonus to your check skill-", must I take in the consideration of time? like for example if i run a game and say it starts at 9 am and in game they drive, so i say its 9:43am? or is it a guard in coming and if they time, do i make the guard progress more to their location?
thank you for any help given, thanks

LFG/LFP Sanctum a Online Cyberpunk Red Living Community
# __**Sanctum**__
**System:** Cyberpunk RED w/ EMK and all DLC + Some Homebrew
**Format:** Discord + VTT
**Time Zones:** Hosted for EU/US Time Zones.
**Requirements:**Be over 18. Own/use a microphone that doesn't make our ears bleed.
__**What tf is Sanctum**__?
Sanctum is a place started up to share the fun of the thing that brought (nearly) all of us to this server. Playing Cyberpunk. A variety of gigs are hosted all throughout the week with typically 5-6 gigs a week being thrown out there. They'll range from anything between the light-hearted and silly to a struggle just to survive, but, at the end of the day, the philosophy behind it all is "Play the character, not the game."
__**Setting:**__
It's (as the time of this posting) July 22nd 2077. It's the Night City most of us are familiar with only a few changes here and there. (Sadly, some of the people who got here before you decided to break a few ~~people~~ things and now the rest of us have to deal with it.) The sun is ~~causing cancer~~ shining in the sky where the mega buildings don't block it. The water ~~causes cancer~~ is only a slight shade of brown. And the birds are still ~~carrying the plague~~ corporate operated drones meant to infringe on what little privacy you thought you had. See? The usual.
__**What're We Looking For?**__
We're looking to bring in new players! Fresh faced and have no idea what you're going? Cool, get in here! We'll teach you how to play so long as you can learn. Seasoned player just looking to try something new? Get in here! GM looking for a new place to do your thing or test out a couple ideas? GET. **IN.** ***HERE.*** (Please, I'm tired of being the forever GM.) So come look around, hang out for an interview, and see if this is the place where you want to be.

Fan Art & Story Time We're back, I come bearing a huge doodle batch
Hellloooooooooooo Night City! I come bearing doodles once more.
Slight context info:
-Our Netrunner group was sent on an escort mission to bring two rockerboys to a huge meeting of nomads.
-Our rockerboy, Amp, was invited to perform with them at said meeting
-The guys picked a fight with some snake nation guys who were definitely way too drunk/high after some gambling mishaps (just another tuesday...)
-The fight ended with Tiger (our Lawman) and Wyvern ("unwashed music festival goer" <- GM's words) making out after they had spent way too long slapping each other around...
Stay fresh, chooms!

Misc. What is the Villefort ColumbusV340-F Freight Van?
Hiya, coming into Cyberpunk Red and Nomad sounds cool. Unfortunately, there is basically no wiki for this that I have found.
As far as I have found from looking around here, Nomads start with Moto Rank 4, which is 4 vehicles/upgrades. But in my Gear section, I see a this Van thing- wait no no...the Villefort ColumbusV340-F Freight. It has no stats (that I know of) and I asked my GM who is also new and he doesnt seem to know either.
Am I missing a button? Is this a vehicle I can use? Am I barking up a collapsed tree?

Actual Play Advice for a new player running a unique Rocker / Banksy-type
Dual personas, rocker strategy, and helping the crew!
Hey chooms!
We’re kicking off a new Cyberpunk RED campaign set in The Glen during 2045, and I’m looking for some advice to pass along to a brand-new player in our group.
They’re playing Vector (Valerie Vance), and the character has a really cool, split-lifestyle setup that I want to help them lean into without getting overwhelmed by mechanics or roleplay paralysis.
The Character Concept & Dual Personas
Valerie/Vector operates under a complete double life in Night City:
The Corporate Camouflage (Valerie Vance): By day, she’s a quiet, seemingly overworked corporate marketing worker. She wears pulled-back ponytails, casual corporate attire, and bookish spectacles (which are purely part of the disguise—she doesn't actually need vision correction). To the mega-corps, she’s just another exhausted face in the cubicle farm.
The Underground Subversive (Vector): By night, she drops the corporate persona and hits the streets as a renowned, radical subversive graffiti artist. When operating as Vector, she sports a hooded jacket, light tactical body armor, a custom-painted tactical backpack with MOLLE webbing, and hides her face behind an angry, intimidating Kishin-style demon Noh mask.
Her overarching goal isn't just shooting guns—she's out to weaponize global public opinion against corporate encroachment and help establish local street autonomy. Think Banksy with a gun….
What We Need Advice On!
Since this player is totally new to RPGs and Cyberpunk, we want to give them some fun, concrete ways to play Vector effectively—both in social/narrative scenes and during combat/edgerunner gigs.
Specifically, we’d love ideas on:
Rocker & Information Tactics: How can a Rocker/subversive artist use their platform, propaganda, and public influence to directly affect the party’s success? What are some creative ways to leverage her role/skills to give the crew an advantage before or after a big heist/mission?
Juggling the Dual Life: What are some fun, practical strategies or habits for a new player to manage the "Valerie vs. Vector" dynamic without slowing down the table’s pacing?
Party Synergy: How can Vector best support a crew that includes a local Fixer (Hawk), a cold-calculating med-tech/black-market supplier (Dr. Wagner), and a veteran Netrunner (Reba)?
Any tips, cool storytelling hooks, or tactical Rocker strategies you've seen work well at your tables would be massively appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Community Content & Resources Where to find Interface RED Vol. 2?
hey chooms, so I am currently doing the prep work to run the apartment for a group of 3-4 people later this year (was asking about maps earlier in the week ) and I heard that Interface RED Volume 2 has rules to convert the apartment module to the core rules. all of my players wish to make custom characters so I'm very interested in finding these rules. however I tried looking around online and I cant seem to find a book for Vol.2 or any link to a PDF version of Vol.2 for me to use instead. does anyone know where a canadian gonk can find Interface Vol.2?
