Video First ice water was a bit of a surprise 😅 but ultimately good.

Thought that a nice block of ice and some peanuts floating in their water during this heat might be nice for them. They seem to concur, after the initial surprise!

Question Do you think our crow bros ask themselves why we feed them?

Post image
43 Upvotes

Personally, the reason why I feed them is because I love crows, I'd like to befriend one and because, since I am a witch, it helps me connect with animal energies. Of course they woudln't know about my witchy practices, but do you think they have a reason, in their minds, for which a human feeds them? Or do they not even think about a reason

The juvenile crows keep hanging upside down from my platform on an almost daily basis.

(The jump scare at the end is a squirrel.)

We started putting peanuts out for the crows, but were adopted by some scrub jays instead! The crows sometimes look and caw from a nearby tree, and have snagged some nuts on occasion, but I don’t want to start a turf war so I don’t know if we should encourage both to come. Named by my 3 year old, there’s also a baby somewhere named Quiet (according to her, I have no idea how many are actually here, they all look quite similar). They’re all very social, and come by even when my daughter is playing three feet away. I don’t see many scrub jays here so wanted to show them some love. Some goofy shots of them, sorry phone camera isn’t the best, even though it cost a million dollars

(WY, USA) I saw these two ravens yesterday making a sound similar to a mouth harp, right around the 6 second mark. prior to pressing record, they repeatedly made that noise. has anyone heard this before?

then they started doing the beak clicking thing. is that a courting ritual?

Crow Gifts I think I got my first gift this morning!! A bright red plastic cap in the midst of where I leave shelled peanuts out for the locals ❤️🙌🏼

I've been leaving shelled peanuts out for about a week now and unshelled peanuts for about a month. There is already a local crow murder presence and I'm so excited that the befriending process is progressing!! 🥰 There are also a ton of bluejays around, I wonder if they've ever been known to leave gifts as well?

Question Crow revenge on me?

Thumbnail

I use to feed crows a bit, not scheduled, not at a specific spot but I would throw some unsalted peanuts in shells. I’ve been busy and my bag of peanuts is empty so I stopped feeding them but I still see the murder. Now my car is full of shit, but like to another level, the rain dissolved a lot but it’s on all sides. Today I spotted a crow hanging over my car. Would this be a possible revenge?

My Edmonton back yard is full of juveniles this year (crows, blue jays, and magpies), and one of the magpies lets me feed him most days. Mealworms are a big hit.

Crow OC Crowpie

Following u/reindeerareawesome ’s example, I’ve got a Crowpie in my area too.

They both still have their own partners. My crowbro loves peanuts, while the magpie prefers scrambled eggs. They either share the food or just leave each other’s favorite snack alone. I think that’s pretty fascinating.
