Discussion What is a reasonable rehoming fee to ask when looking for a home for a cat?

Standard domestic shorthair, a few months old, not yet neutered.

I am moving to a smaller place (much smaller) and cannot take 3 cats. I am so devastated to have to let go of two of my babies. But its the right thing to do. The place is simply too small. I am in somewhat a hurry to find them loving homes but I have a week or so to adopt them out.

I hear alot of horror stories about giving pets up for free online, so I dont wanna go that route (my mother was a animal flipper and I vividly remember how disgusted it made me watching her take in animals as though she's giving them a cozy home full of love just to resell them at a profit and rip them away from me and my little siblings despite us being attached.)

But my question is, what's a reasonable fee for a cat/kitten? Not a special breed. No shots. Not neutered. Doesn't come with a ton of toys or food. And the person responding to my ad must travel.

What should I do if they do not have the rehoming fee I specifically ask for upon arrival? For example... if they were to say "omg i didn't see that message, my eyes must've skipped over that part!" Or "I only have $3 , is that ok???" How should I react or respond?

Im new to this. I wanna ensure the best homes and families possible for my cats

Pls help

Discussion Apartment Rentals Ads

I have noticed that when looking for an apartment in a certain area they are many ads for apartments that are a couple of hours away. Some of them are for the same listing and they will be listed several times in a row. Isn't this false advertisement? Why is this allowed?

New CRAIGSLIST SCAM - Money thru Business Accts On Hold until you pay them add'l Money...

Why these trolls? So I had someone text me for purchase - seemed legit, but it came in at 1:35am PT.

I responded in the morning that item still avail. He texted that he will Venmo me deposit & send his daughter to pick up jewelry & pay balance in cash. All seemed cool - then when I sent him Venmo QR Code via text I got a text fr "Venmo Customer Service" stating the $300 payment on "hold" b/c it came from a business Venmo acct (an LLC or INC so for me to receive the $$ from a business they need a minimum of $800 transaction - so I need to deposit $500 to receive the $300! They were doing a spin around - I send them $500 so I can get the $300 hahhaah. Venmo will never text you legitimately. Only thru the APP.)
Awe shucks I screen shot the texts - so effed up...I wish I could post them...

Recognizing patterns in Craigslist's fake "Free" listings

I've gotten into the habit of looking for scam listings in Craigslist's Free section.

A pattern I've noticed is posts with emotional stories like "My son passed away," "My aunt passed away," "I'm moving to a new city," or "I want someone to cherish their memories." The item is often something unusually valuable, like a PS5, gaming laptop, or electric wheelchair. In many cases, the conversation eventually turns into a request to pay for shipping.

To help spot these listings more easily, I created a couple of saved searches using keywords that frequently appear in these posts:

"I'm moving to a new city" | aunty | "passed away" | "cherished memories"

Since Craigslist lets you search within 1,000 miles of a ZIP code, I use two saved searches centered on ZIP codes 19104 (Philadelphia, PA) and 84601 (Provo, UT). Together they cover most Craigslist sites in the continental U.S.

Every few days I run the searches, read through the results, and, if I come across a listing that I believe violates Craigslist's posting rules, I use Craigslist's built in flagging feature. I don't flag listings based on keywords alone. The keywords just help narrow down the results so I can review them manually.

Has anyone else noticed recurring themes or wording that scammers tend to reuse? I'm curious about common patterns that help identify suspicious listings, not keywords that should automatically result in a listing being flagged.

Discussion Graigslist from Ukraine

I want to work as an intermediary for moving services (dispatcher) from Ukraine.

Is it possible to post ads on Craigslist from Ukraine? I already got banned once.

Also, how can I receive calls from the USA while being in Ukraine?

Discussion Page jumping issue

The issue occurs when using Craigslist with Chrome or Brave browsers on Android or iPhone.

When you scroll down in grid view the page keeps jumping like it's trying to refresh. It is extremely annoying. Maybe this is part of the reason more people are advertising on Facebook Marketplace now...

Discussion Registration links not sending?

I am trying to log back into Craigslist after a very long time away. I've tried everything to get a login link. A reset link. A create new account link. Nothing works. Do they have any human support left?

I've also tried the iOS app. Still nothing works.

Edit: tried the contact page form. No response yet. Didn’t even get an automated message confirming form submission?

All the red flags are there

I posted a large oak desk for $50. A guy responded, wanted to pay first, then send a mover over. Red flags, I know. Now he says he thinks it’s worth $100 so wants to pay me that. Definitely a red flag! But he wants to come in person to pay! Don’t scammers usually send someone else? He wants my address to arrange the mover but I’m convinced this is a scammer do I’m hesitant to give it. He gave his cell phone and asked us to call him to arrange the pick up. It’s still a scammer, right?

No, its a SCAM! Not sure if legit

I just need some advice I’m trying to buy a handheld gaming device from a guy. It’s only$150 he said he can ship it to me. He is ok with me paying him half now and half when I get the device. He has the device posted in two cities that are fairly close to each other. Would you consider this suspicious? It’s a good deal I’m just curious if I should go through with it

Red flag? Seller only wants to communicate over text/phone

Apologies if people ask this all the time.

I haven't used Craigslist in a long time, and I'm trying to buy a cedar chest. I've found a couple so far that look good, and both times I contacted the seller, they gave me a phone number instead of wanting to communicate via email. To me, it seems suspicious, but like I said, I haven't used Craigslist in quite some time. Is this typical, or is it a red flag?

Please send your info to the Craigslist or contact Sam for more info.

Discussion Need some help with the "hide post" function.

I need help undoing an accidental "hide post" that I did when looking at some search results. I accidentally clicked the little trash can on a post and it disappeared from the results. I can't figure out how to make it come back, and I was actually interested in contacting the seller about it. I've tried looking for solution in CL's help section, general internet searches, and in this sub. I'm not finding any solutions that look helpful. I tried changing the views, scoured the settings and filter options...I can't figure out how to unhide it. Help, please!

Discussion Should "Free piano" posts be presumed to be scams?

EDIT: TLDR - I flag scam posts. Should I flag every "free piano" post that I see?

I browse the Craigslist “Free” section a lot, and some posts are obviously scams (free iPhone 17 Pro Max, free PS5, etc.), and I'm quick to flag them.

I do see a lot of free piano listings, though, and I’m not sure how to treat those. Are they usually scams, or are some legit?

To clarify, I’m not talking about the obvious scam-type posts where they’ll “ship it to you” or the whole “it belonged to my deceased wife and has too many memories” story. Those are clearly fake.

I’ve reverse image searched some listings and found stolen photos, so I know those are scams. But I’ve also read that getting rid of a piano can cost hundreds or even thousands depending on the type and how hard it is to move.

So it seems possible some of these could actually be real, like someone trying to clear out a house. For those of you who know more about this, should free piano posts be presumed to be scams?

craigslist listing for lingerie model

i saw this listing and contacted the person unsure if this could be a trafficking scheme or some kind of scam I'm like desperate for money right now and the job market is failing me hard I unfortunately can't post the screenshot. they already replied with this

"I’m offering a private, sexy boudoir session. You must be 18yrs or older. Only I would have copies from the shoot by contract unless you’d like some. I do not sell or post images as this is just a fun hobby for me. I'm hoping to be entertained for a few hours with you modeling some sexy outfits, lingerie, topless, nude and erotica shots or more. What you are open to will determine the amount of money to be made. Up to $1000+. All negotiable. The more fun and entertaining the more cash to be made. Not everything needs to be on camera of course. If this interests you let me know and include some full pictures with your thoughts.
Thanks "

Yes, It's a SCAM. I need help, trying to rent a room off craigslist but property owner wants me to send him a transunion credit report.

I found a room to rent on craigslist. 1br/1ba for $480 a month. I contacted the owner and then he asked me a few questions and we set up a time to meet in person, however he wanted a credit and background check. When I clicked on the link he emailed be it said “apply here” in bold which already look shady. Then when i clicked on it it said to put my phone number and SSN. He also told me to send a screenshot of my report to him once i have it and that all fees for the application will be refunded when we meet in person for the viewing

I did my own research and found that transunion is legit but that landlords usually do their own background checks and don’t ask for the tenant to provide one, especially if there hasn’t been a viewing yet. Please help, is this safe? I Also found out of places on craigslist scam using this same method. I most likely won’t be going through with this because it feels scammy but want to know what people here think.

Yes, It's a SCAM. Emailing sellers

First time using Craigslist and lowkey confused:

I’m looking to sublease an apartment and all of them replied asking for my direct email. Is that a scam?
I emailed them using my Gmail account so I’m a little confused on why they don’t already have access to my email address? And when I searched this up I read that many times they use that to harvest your email account?
If I reply to their response from their Craigslist account email to my personal gmail, wouldn’t they be able to view my email address? How do I know if they’re scamming or if they truly need my email address?

Yes, It's a SCAM. Potential Scam?

Anyone selling heavy equipment receive a text or call from a company offering to help sell your item by connecting you with buyers. Everything sounded legit except that they require a $499 "listing fee" basically they charge 1.5% buyers premium and $499 to the seller (before the sale). If it sounds sketchy it probably is, any way this is legit or to verify?
