Very chill Costa Rican crab that let me hold it

I made a salad today and had some crabmeat, not imitation crab, but real crab sticks. I opened the package about a week ago. i smelled it and it had small scent of fish. i thought well its real crab, so maybe its natural. i ate a lil bit then threw the salad away out of fear. i took charcoal just in case.

Has anyone eaten a week old crabmeat, and didnt get sick?

hello fellow marine bio/crab nerds! i need some help with differentiating between asian shore crabs and atlantic mud crabs. what are some distinguishing features? especially when they are at the juvenile stage

I found this dude scuttling around in my lab at work. I have no idea where he came from - I’ve never seen a crab around here and I thought they lived in saltwater.

There is a small pond around the other side of my building, but I’ve never seen any crabs in there and don’t want to doom him by tossing him in haphazardly.

I live in the lowcountry of SC. The ocean/a marsh is pretty close to where I work, but it’s a long way for a guy with tiny legs, so I’m not super sure how he got here.

Help appreciated!

I did manage to release him back to a marshy area nearby!

hello!! i dropped my little sister off at a camp in Galveston, Texas, where a friend gave her a shell they found yesterday afternoon. turns out the crab was still in it. she didnt realize it until this morning, but im curious to know which crab this is?

I found this crab molt on the cliffs on Gran Canaria! I'm not sure what kind it would be. Grapsus grapsus comes up most, but seems like a different type. Grapsus adscensionis seems close, but they look a lot bluer than mine is.

The molt was intact until I slipped and stabbed my thumb into her back (no need to correct me on the gender, I have already named her Fresita (little strawberry)), I have all the pieces, so I'm planning on restoring her when I get home.

Any idea is really welcome!

Crab prosthetics

They say the crab has some areas showing signs of damage and infection that aren't being fixed by natural molting, so they're working on some man-made fixes to help the crabs quality of life. I thought it was pretty cool!
