Is Coventry City Centre making a revival?

Upvotes

Hi,

Is the city centre getting better? It seems more shops are opening a bit and i’ve noticed even fringe locations have some really good line ups of businesses.

Bilton Industrial Estate close to city centre now has a gym, a trampoline park and gymnastics centre. I spoke with a company called Shepherd who are commercial estate agents for the site and they said the estate is doing great with weird and wonderful uses compared to heavy manufacturing.

Even West Orchards food court seems busier than usual. Is anyone else noticing this?

New Coventry City website now live!

Hi everyone,

I've just launched The Phoenix (thephoenix.news), a new ad-free website dedicated entirely to Coventry City.

The aim is to focus on the kind of long-form journalism and storytelling that often gets squeezed out elsewhere. Rather than chasing every rumour, I want to produce in-depth features, analysis and original reporting on the Sky Blues.

At launch you'll find:

  • Analysis of Coventry's summer signings.
  • An interview with Mustapha Hadji about the summer Morocco came to Coventry.
  • A deep dive into why Carl Rushworth became such a fan favourite.
  • Dave Boddy, Michael Doyle, Max Biamou, Liam Kelly and others looking back on Coventry's pressure-cooker promotion season in League Two.
  • Plus plenty more.

If that sounds like something you'd enjoy, I'd really appreciate you taking a look. And if you've got any feedback or ideas for future features, I'd genuinely love to hear them.

Thanks everyone, and PUSB!

Has anybody read this book about Coventry canal???

I have been getting into ancestry and my family tree lately. I know some ancestors of mine that died before I was born lived on a canal boat, and my mum told me that they had been referenced in a book about the canal. She didn't remember the book, but after a quick search I have a feeling it's going to be 'A Canal People: The Photographs of Robert Longden' by Sonia Rolt. I assumed it would be in the library, but it isn't, and I don't want to buy it if it isn't the right book.

I just wondered if anybody has ever read it or has a copy of it so I can find out if this is the book I'm looking for.

Thanks!

Bloke stole delivery from my front door like it is just another normal day. Is this common living in CV6? As it is first time this has happened to me.

Spanish folks watching world cup final?

Hi all, my wife is Spanish and I was wondering if there are any Spanish societies with Coventry or even just a group of Spanish folks who might be out watching the game tonight where she can join a cheer along with fellow compatriots?

Weird experience with a couple outside Coventry Station. Anyone else?

Has anyone had an encounter with a man and woman outside Coventry Station who usually have two dogs and ask people for money?
I walked past them recently and didn’t respond, and as I kept walking they shouted “fuck you” at me. It caught me off guard.
Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience, or if this was a one-off?

Coventry tattoo artist - building realism portfolio

Post image
24 Upvotes

Hola. I'm a tattoo artist at Tattooed Llama studio (CV6). Since I started in October last year I haven't had a lot of opportunities to do realistic projects, and I'd really love to develop my skills and expand my portfolio in this direction.

If you've got an idea sitting in your notes app - a portrait, an animal/pet, or something else that we could turn into a realistic eye-turner, I'd genuinely like to hear about it. You can see some of my favourite pieces below.

I'm relatively new to the scene so my prices are still well below the industry average. Currently they sit at £240 per day session, rising to £300 in September, so I think it's a great deal for both of us - you get a tattoo that people will constantly ask you about and I get the chance to build my portfolio and do what I enjoy most :)

If you're interested, you can either leave a comment behind, or drop me a private message. You can also reach me on Instagram at tattoos.by.domi

does anyone know if there are cameras on henley road turning into the old church road roundabouts?

Hi, I'm afraid i ran through a red light last night and haven't been able to get it out of my mind since. The lights were exactly the same as the photo attached, I was in the left lane and there was someone across me waiting, I presumed i had a right to go but i was still hesitant. My nerves got the better of me and I just went, and now I've been thinking what if i get fined. I'm still relatively new to driving, I passed my test under a year ago and I rarely drive on this road. I've done research if people actually get fined/points and some do some don't. I really don't want points on as i'm still a young driver. If anyone knows it would be appreciated, maybe it might calm me down.

Meant to be heading to West Orchards' Post Office today - is it still there?

I was given it as an option for ID checking and chose it, but from what I have read online it was reported that it would shut in June?

Is Coventry LGBT safe

I'm currently applying to some unis in the UK, but I'd like to make sure they are LGBT friendly as a queer trans person. I come from a very homophobic country so really anything is better than that, but considering Coventry (atl to my understanding) is on the smaller side, is it a safe space for queer people? And if so, is finding a community easy?

If you can help, most supermarkets have a collection point, even one or two extra items of food or hygiene products in your shop helps, there are other ways to donate on their website.

They also still have places available if you want to participate in their charity abseil down Coventry Cathedral on 1st August, the minimum you need to raise or donate is £200

Petition for more CCTV in St. Nicholas Park, Warwick

As part of a campaign for more CCTV cameras in St. Nicholas Park, we have set up an online petition (link below).

https://www.change.org/parkcameras

I have good reason to believe that if we gain substantial support from this petition we shall improve the possibility of more cameras in our park.

Please share this with friends and family to achieve the best outcome.

Hey all. Might be working in the area in the near future.

Looking for area recommendations or warnings for renting. I've been looking outside of Coventry, but not found a whole lot, so now i need to look within the city itself.

LOST ONE-EYED CAT IN EALRSDON

Post image
26 Upvotes

My neighbour has lost their cat.

His name is Tod, he is predominantly black with some white on his chin and feet. He only has one eye, so he’s easy to recognise.

He’s often seen around Hearsall Lane/Farman Road CV5 6HF. But hasn’t been seen since morning of 11th July.

He hangs around Earlsdon, so if you see a black cat with one eye, please let me know!

House Cleaner Reccomendations

Hello all, does anyone have any reccomendations for a good and reliable cleaner please that covers CV4?

We've got parents coming to stay next month and we would like to get a deep clean of the house before they arrive to avoid any judgement!

Ideally a reccomendation that you've used please and not self-reccomendations, I've tried searching and everything online just seems to be the same people offering their serives.

Thanks
