Be proud it was seen, not that it wasn't seen enough

It is definately a real struggle. We seek acceptance, and it is hurtful to put yourself out there, only to be ignored/rejected. for what it is worth, you are taking the steps on the journey to improving.

As an aside note, I do feel that the current trend of telling AI artists to grab a pencil has reminded people the difficulty of starting when they do not feel good enough, and people give more leeway to comics that are rough from inexperience. Someday, I hope to join y'all and share... Something, in watever warped form it may take.

Best of luck. Keep on the journey!

Ye i'm doing this mostly for fun

i definitely don't hit the note always and try out different styles a lot, so it's unavoidable to fall flat more often than not, but i don't let it bring me down

ofc it's cool to get recognition, but if it was the only thing that drives me, i wouldn't post 3 comics a week lol

Got to hit the classic “Well, Van Gough wasn’t appreciated in his time, either!”

Ah, i don't think i'm ready for that course of action towards fame

Ironically, this comic had more upvotes than the one you posted previously.

I make a point if up voting comics that aren't from huge creators. Reddit could use the variety frankly.

Don’t make this exhibit A

I feel this in my soul. But I don't go to coping, I go straight to a mix of anger and denial.

Angrial.

"My post is amazing. These redditors are just stupid"

My first comic had nearly 3800 upvotes. I was riding high. Then my second had 20. I've had some get 300+ but I have to get really absurd for that. Like... my Lightning McQueen one had over 500 upvotes and almost as many shares. I wish I could see what corners of the internet my comic made it to, but alas. Now I'm working on a series (!!) and most updates probably won't make it past 20-30 but it'll get absurd at some point so maybe more people will enjoy it. Eventually..

I spent 0 hours drawing and I'm also finally done. The secret is having no artistic talent.

hot take:

there is no such thing as "artistic talent"

everyone can learn how to create something in their own way. I mean look at beetlemoses for example. His art is objectively jank and has a strong MS paint atmosphere and still he is one of the most prolific comic artists on here.

hell, look at my profile and sort for top all time, there's a comic about the (german) railway system in winter i made almost entirely in MS paint. It looks objectively ass, is almost completely black and white and still got almost 10k upvotes. What matters more than good art is having a good idea.

Don't tell yourself, you got no talent.

Nuclear Fission man will have his day in the sun

3

u/_Aethea_ 5h ago

No that would be nuclear fusion man.

1

u/Ven-Dreadnought 5h ago

…so you’re saying Nuclear Fission man is an open IP. Well, sorry. I’m your competition now

You've captured the painful feeling of spending like 12 hours on what you think is your magnum opus of the month.... only for it to get like, the response equivalent of showing your bewildered parents your fanart. It's fine. Probably.

1000/10 comic, this hurt :(

Hey at least you're doing something. And remember all the artists who were unappreciated in their lifetime... you can't reach posthumous appreciation without putting things out now!

Honestly 4 updoots makes me happy. I really should actually try to make comics again...

u/EdStufff 3h ago

I'm in this comic and I don't like it.

dude, 8 hours? It takes me a week, minimum, and still goes nowhere. 😂 * seppuku *

Ha! I can relate to that! The comics that do well are never the ones I expected (and vice versa).

That’s why it’s best to create for yourself! 🤙
