Cloudygamer has been reopened

As you might have noticed, our previous moderator /u/TooEarlyForMe closed the sub during the protest and subsequently deleted his account. This left this sub unmoderated and soon banned.

Today, reddit has added me as moderator so we can open up the sub again. I hope that we can revive /r/cloudygamer and return it to its former glory - a place to discuss all things around cloud gaming.

For now, I don't see the need to change anything about how things were before. Should the sub get subjected to a lot of spam, I will soon start searching for additional moderators that want to help keep the sub clean. Hopefully, a well setup AutoModerator can keep most of the spam in check though. If you do see any spam, please use the report button. Thanks!

Best mobile device for cloud gaming and Luna

I’m looking at the iPad Pro series maybe a m4 or the Amazon fire tablet. I looked at the m5 but 1300$ for cloud gaming I might as well buy a steam deck. Given that I’m only using it for cloud gaming and maybe very light indie pc games does anyone have any recommendations for a tablet 200-500 price range

Multiple / Dedicated Cursor Driver for Virtual Display Driver (VDD) ?

Hi, I am thinking of a way to play two video games in one PC. I am trying to install VDD so that I have two monitors and then play two games at once (sharing, of course).

As it turns out, whenever I use my main display and VDD concurrently, we ended up fighting for the cursor instead.

Is it possible to have two cursors, one for the main display and one for the VDD, to be able to play 2 games at once?

Thanks in advance!

I built a game launcher

I built a game launcher. Full disclosure I don't have much experience with C#, and I had a lot of help from AI along the way. I want to be upfront about that.

The reason I started this is that Windows just doesn't give you a real console experience, and every app that claimed to fix that was always missing something. I'm a single player guy with two kids, and what I actually wanted was simple, suspend my game, sleep the PC, go handle whatever they need, and come back to exactly where I left off. No missed cutscenes, no lost progress. PlayStation rest mode, basically, but on PC. That is a whole another world, Somehow it turned into a full game launcher.

It's not perfect. I'm committed to making it better, and I'd rather do that alongside people who want the same thing I do than keep building it alone in a corner. So today I'm releasing it for anyone who wants to try it. This started as a project just for me, but I think there's something real here if we build on it together. If you've got suggestions, I want to hear them.

One more thing. I'm a Moonlight/Sunshine user myself, so streaming was part of the design from day one, not an afterthought.

Try it, tell me what's broken, tell me what's missing. I'm here and I'm listening.

Question and Rant

Ok cloud moon is used for mobile apps etc so why do mobile pepole dont get unlimited time and computers do. To me mobile people should get unlimted time. Who in the world came up with that and i hate when there is so manty ads on the website that you can't see antything after clicking on your account. And having pepole ads on the screen that just interrupts the gameplay. This is what i have seen form other reddit posts etc. And the pro does not even give you impoved game performance so what is point of having it?

Best option for playing modded Minecraft?

Hi, I am looking for a good budget option to play modded Minecraft for my gf, since she cant really play it on her older laptop. We would need a whole virtual PC and not just a gaming service, for actually installing and storing said mods. I have stumbled upon AirGPU as an option that does exactly that, but looking up more on the service people say their price isnt what they advertise? I am wondering are there any extra fees except the 3.50$ a month for the 50GB of SSD storage? Also, is there a better alternative for what we are looking for? Thanks for any information or advice!

Peculiar resolution mismatch causing black screen on moonlight android tv.

I was always having black screen issue with moonlight or Artemis on this tv, couldn't get image in any way, only sound. Other devices worked fine with the host. Today I tried the moonlight-vplus. This fork has setting to change resolution while streaming. When I changed the resolution from 1080p to native it worked. After that changing resolution to anything works but for first boot it always shows black screen and I have to manually set resolution to native from in stream menu, then change to 4k. Same thing with virtual display too. Is there any solution. What might be causing this.

Highscore

Hi,

For the last 2-3 years i see this platform call Highscore announced. But until now nothing happens. Will this service ever become a reality or is it a "scam" ?

It would be great to have a service where you can play any game you want, but it has been so long now that it becomes a little unbelievable.

Has it already rolled out in the usa ?

What if Remote Play was as easy as sharing a link?

What if playing together was as easy as sharing a link?

That's why I built LPT (Let's Play Together), a free alternative to Steam Remote Play and Parsec focused on making remote multiplayer as simple as possible.

✔ Windows, Linux & Steam Deck (Decky plugin)
✔ Up to 4K 60 FPS / 1080p 120 FPS
✔ Voice & text chat
✔ Let your friends take controller input
✔ Friends join instantly from their browser (no installation required)
✔ Up to 6 players with host approval
✔ Works with Steam, non-Steam games and your personal library

Right now, guests join directly from their browser. A native desktop client is already on the roadmap for those who prefer using an app.

I'm looking for people willing to test it and share honest feedback. Every suggestion helps improve the streaming experience.

Thanks for checking it out!

Is AirGpu a good platform for cloud gaming?

I have recently been looking for a great alternative to GeForce Now which is holding up great, but AirGpu has caught my eye but it seems to good to be true, is it worth my time to try out, or is there another alternative that is just as cheap?

Black screen for moonlight on tv with realtek chip.

Post image
1 Upvotes

My tv has a realtek chip RTD 2885n which is very fast as processor, it can even run edge Android with extensions and play 4k youtube via browser. But whenever I stream moonlight it gives a black screen. I have tried changing codec, resolution, host encoding nothing happens. Only AUDIO playstore but no video. It can play hevc or avc in both internal player and vlc. Steam link is also chugging. Atleast steam link shows the video even though very laggy and non usable. My old mi tv with mediatek has no issues and plays smoothly even though that chip is very slow and laggy. I understand it's some sort of codec error but can't fix. Also moonlight doesn't have any software decoding option so, that's out. Can anyone help. Thanks.

Had hopes that better AMD support in Vibepollo would support Polaris

Hi there! I'm unfortunately stuck on AMD Polaris (Radeon RX 580) at 4K with Vibepollo. I know that there's a pull request for better AMD support that will be merged soon...and I tried it, but the legacy encoder was detected.

My streams are severely affected from this. I tested with my laptop running Fedora and with my Samsung Galaxy phone to get the same result. At least, when streaming remotely, because I haven't tried locally, streams are choppy and stuttery. Also, my upload bandwidth was not at all be saturated because I checked that, too.

I just had high hopes that this pull request would work with AMD Polaris. Looks like I'll have to upgrade to a fairly recent Nvidia card in the near future.

P.S. I'm posting this here because Reddit thinks I'm a bot on the moonlightstreaming subreddit.
