Port out of landline numbers "delayed"

I've been trying to get a landline ported out of CenturyLink's claws for 12 business days now. Yesterday my new cell company reported that the transfer ticket finally received an update. ATT Message on the ticket @7:11 PM GMT:

"Update: Qwest has advised that they are experiencing a backlog of ports due system migration issues. IMPORTANT: Please do NOT attempt to cancel, modify or resubmit during this time as this will only delay the resolution. An update will be provided in 24 hours."

It's now 9:30 PM GMT and still no update. Corporate enshitification? Or could it be Mercury Retrograde, which ends tomorrow?

WiFi keeps dropping

A week ago my wifi started dropping every 10 min. I chatted with the robot who couldn't fix it and set up an appointment for me. Earliest was 7 days out. Frustrating but no choice. Today was the appointment and they never showed! And trying to contact a human being is impossible. I have been happy with centurylink up until today, it's disappointing how they treat their customers.

I'm in the Phoenix metro area.

Update: tech showed up an hour late, tested my lines and basically told me to find a better provider! He said dsl is old, especially the equipment in my area, and they will end doing a cost analysis to see if it's even worth repairing all the lines. They could end up telling me to kick rocks if it's not worth it to them. Annoying, but I actually appreciated his honesty. I'll take his advice and switch to something more reliable.

Business customer forced to AT&T without dedicated IP Space

So. As Centurylink/Lumen circles the drain and AT&T is picking up the scraps, I just learned today that our Business account with a /29 of much needed dedicated IP Address space goes "poof". According to AT&T they no longer offer IP addressing. Anyone else dealing with this? What are your plans? -or is this par for course enschittificion 2026 in that services we've had for ever are "no longer available".

Anyone else WiFi just randomly goes in and out? I mean I know it’s been a lot lately but it’s getting ridiculous and kind of frustrating

Fired CL

I watched them steadily deteriorate and finally canned them this week. I didn’t have dial tones on my landlines for seven weeks—and they kept billing me. Then two weeks ago the internet went out. They set up appointments then cancelled them with no explanation. The second time they told me they had no record of a ticket number they gave me. The customer service reps, especially at the foreign call centers, are complete imbeciles. So glad to be rid of them.

Daily outages

Daily outages. Again.

At this point, calling this "service" is a joke. Every day it's another interruption, another reboot, another excuse. People work from home, run businesses, and depend on a stable connection. This level of reliability is unacceptable.

If you're going to charge people every month, provide the service they're paying for. Stop normalizing constant outages and start fixing the infrastructure.

Do better, CenturyLink.

Minneapolis area. Out again.

Omaha Quantum Fiber confusion?

I just saw this on my local news: https://www.wowt.com/2026/07/15/west-omaha-neighborhood-enters-2nd-week-without-centurylink-internet-service/

Here is a post from someone that has been getting the runaround: https://www.reddit.com/r/centurylink/comments/1uoi1uh/update_on_lightning_strike/ Here is an older post about this: https://www.reddit.com/r/centurylink/comments/1un9mf4/lightning_strike/

Does AT&T have the Quantum Fiber in Omaha or does Lumen Technology still have the Quantum Fiber in the Omaha area?

Fiber Help Am I a CenturyLink or Quantum customer?

In 2020 I got CenturyLink Fiber and its been working fine. In October 2025 I received a CenturyLink postal mail stating that there was going to be a migration to Quantum and that a notification would be sent to create a Quantum account. I have yet to receive a Quantum notification of any kind. However, recently my billing on my credit card was changed from CenturyLink to Quantum. I still have an ONT and use PPPoE. I can access my centurylink.net emails but can't seem to access my CenturyLink Billing on there website. In the past and before the Quantum migration notice, I was able to access CenturyLink Billing but now I can't. I need to access my Billing information but I don't know where or how. Am I a CenturyLink or Quantum customer? What am I supposed to do? Who do I contact?

Anyone else in South Seattle have an outage?

I'm in columbia city - have been out for like 5 days at this point. Now for the third day in a row chat support keeps telling me the resolution has been pushed out by a day yet again.

I don't see any notification about an outage in my online portal or when I run diagnostics.

How do I contact a human in the Number Management/Porting Department within CenturyLink?

I am starting a business and have a specific phone number I want to use (vanity number). The number is disconnected, and I was able to track it back to Lumen/CenturyLink. I’ve spoken with several representatives at CenturyLink to ask about obtaining this phone number since it’s not in service, and every answer I get is “that’s not possible.” I’m willing to establish new service with CenturyLink (they do serve my area), but only if I can use this phone number. Does anyone have any tips or tricks? Thanks!

Fiber Help Cedar Rapids Iowa Bad Routing (true Denver)

Thumbnail gallery
7 Upvotes

Hi as the title says I live in Iowa cedar rapids area; and I have the fiber service with CenturyLink (940mb) so my problem is kinda new and idk if that has something to do with the outage in july 8; I was lucky that my area wasn't affected for that but It seems to be that my hub now is bad Routing/peering everything true the Denver dataCenter/hub and them to any serve I desire to connect

Before the july 8 out was: Cedar rapids Hub - any server I desire to connect

After July 8 out: Cedar rapids Hub - Denver hub (ae7.edg8.den1.sp.lumen.tech) 4.68.110.105 - any server I like to connect

tracert 104.128.48.8 (Chicago server who I regularly got 7-9ms) got 41-45ms now

1 2 ms <1 ms <1 ms router.lan [192.168.88.1] 2 1 ms 1 ms 2 ms cdrr-dsl-gw17.cdrr.qwest.net [209.181.206.17] 3 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 209-181-211-133.cdrr.qwest.net [209.181.211.133] 4 19 ms 19 ms 19 ms ae7.edge8.den1.sp.lumen.tech [4.68.110.105] 5 41 ms 40 ms 40 ms ae2.2.edge2.Chicago10.net.lumen.tech [4.69.132.225] 6 41 ms 41 ms 41 ms 4.71.100.51 7 43 ms 41 ms 41 ms as30455.edge1.sbaedge.net [64.79.101.37] 8 * * * Tiempo de espera agotado para esta solicitud. 9 41 ms 41 ms 41 ms 104.128.48.8.static.hostvenom.com [104.128.48.8]

So I did a speedtest to Chicago and I got 75 ping and I don't get the speed right (and yes no one was using the Internet and I change ip probably 10 times already) so I find a old speedtest to the same server in Chicago which was 7ms and 920/920mb

Any one present this same ping and speed issue? Cuz everything goes true the Denver hub (4.68.110.105) and I guess that's why I got more ping and even lost few mbs

I am not a super mega smart guy or IT technician but there's any way I could fix it? Or any number to call directly to a technician in CenturyLink cuz I try with support true the website and explain everything about the bad Routing/peering and they just want me to reset my modem with any real solution; thanks in advance!

Fiber Help Random Sporadic Outages for last 2-3 months (North Seattle)

Shortly after the sale to ATT closed I've been noticing lots of random 30sec to 1 min outages at random times during the day / middle of night. Anyone else seeing behavior like this?

Eagle, ID: CenturyLink has been down since MONDAY night and somehow keeps finding new ways to disappoint

I work from home, so this outage hasn’t just been annoying — it’s been a full‑on productivity situation. CenturyLink went down Monday night and every single day since, they’ve pushed the “estimated restoration” out another 24 hours like clockwork. Three days of the same useless update.

And today — today — they finally texted me a “potential outage notice.” A potential outage., The outage is not theoretical. I’ve been living it.

No explanation. No transparency. No urgency. Just the same canned message online their dashboard.

Internet in and out Lower Al

Hi all. First of all, I don’t know hardly anything about modems or routers or anything else alike. But my internet has been dropping on and off for about 30-60min each time multiple times a day for about a month. I’ve reset/unplugged the modem and the router countless times. I asked my bf to call them to get it fixed, but he has been very little help. They sent a new router and he couldn’t get it set up, so they told him to schedule a time for a tech to come out.

Please I just need to know what to do. We have very little cellular where we are and I often work from home.

Any advice is welcome even if it’s just call them, I just do not like dealing with their customer service.

Outage information

No internet in NW Phoenix valley for 5 days now and the only information is the daily extension of to-be-repaired-by date. Is there a better source for information and do extended outages come with a bill credit?

Update on lightning strike.

So Centurylink won't do anything because I should have been merged in the AT&T deal. AT&T won't do anything because my account didn't get merged. Centurylink says legally they can't come out but yet I still pay them for service. AT&T says I have to do a new install because they don't recognize my account and that will be over 2 weeks out. So I'm screwed and they really don't give a shit. They say they will refund the time my service is down, I'm sure that will be a battle. In the meantime, since I have people working from home, I have to buy more hours for hot spots to keep the people in my house working. Google isn't in my area yet, and COX isn't any better. Corporations are still having the fuck you attitude as long as they get your money.

Lightning strike

Yesterday had a lightning strike on backyard neighbors tree. My internet box is about 20 feet from that tree along with an old phone box and another cable box. The old phone box was smoking for a bit. Now my DSL lines are red on the modem. I realize this is a holiday weekend but I tried to call to get a service request for Monday. This customer service is horrible. The only thing they will tell me is my service was part of the buy out with AT&T. They won't even listen to what happened with my service. I'm told I have to change service to AT&T, AT&T says I don't have an account so they won't look into it. WTF.

Wouldn’t give a price just for phone.

So I manage my grandmother’s finances and general affairs, and CenturyLink has been… a process.

They just ran fiber down her street and are offering all these senior discounts, so I started looking at switching her over. Right now she’s paying about $40 for DSL internet and another $40 for a POTS landline. Pretty standard setup.

I called CenturyLink to ask a simple question: if we drop the internet, what would the phone line cost on its own? They basically told me they don’t know. Said we wouldn’t know until after I cancel. Which… makes zero sense. I also tried to ask about porting the number out, same thing—no clear answer, no real guidance, just a lot of “you’ll find out after.”

It’s just wild how little clarity there is for something this basic, especially for older customers. Meanwhile, it feels like everyone on her street is already switching over to the new fiber provider.

We’ve got an install scheduled at our house in two weeks with the new fiber company, and honestly it can’t come soon enough. Bye bye CenturyLink

What's the deal in Central FL?

I've had Centurylink fiber go down 3-4 times, for long periods in the past 1.5 weeks. First was a construction crew fixing a sewage leak digging through the main fiber lines of all 3 fiber isps for my neighborhood. Two day outage, but I'll give them that one. It's now been down, i believe 2-3 other times for almost or over a day since then. After a storm with a partial power outages, it stayed out for many more hours after the power came back on. Today after a storm had completely ended with blue skies above, it went out again and the ETA is tomorrow at 10PM.

With 2 other competing fiber isps in the same neighborhood offering similar pricing, I'd bet they lost most of their customers in a week.
