Cat Picture - OC This sub liked Frankie's massive growth in only 6 weeks last time.... so how about 8 years later??
Australian man and Australian cat Frankie. I posted Frankie on this sub 8 years ago, because I was amazed by how much he grew in only 6 weeks!
Frankie got a lot of love from this sub, so I thought I'd give you all an update. Does anyone remember Frankie?? I have a lot more grey hairs these days at age 43, but one thing that didn't change.... Frankie still loves being held like a baby!!
Ps. My old Samsung phone had a camera setting called "Beauty Face" enabled, which I didn't know about for 10 months of owning the phone. π π Just in case anyone was wondering why the photos from 8 years ago looked "pretty."

u/GS500E 13h ago
Frankies look has a ..." I don't see any other god up here, ... but me"
43
u/DanteThonSimmons 13h ago
Yep you nailed it. He's very chill.... but also knows he's handsome and uses that to his advantage.

They grow up too fast but everyday with them is a good day
61
u/DanteThonSimmons 14h ago
Yeah they really DO grow up so fast! When I was a kid, I thought that was just something old people say.... but it happens in the blink of an eye. Every day with him is definitely a good day! He's still a cute little maniac.
3
u/PortaSponge 4h ago
They can grow as much as they want. Won't change a thing. They will always be babies to me.

u/DanteThonSimmons 15h ago
Also... I moved house, so I couldn't recreate the photo exactly. I don't have those clothes any more either, so I tried to get as close as I could haha.

u/Hightemplar420 American Shorthair 15h ago
Frankie looks way more content in the recent photo. Kudos on your amazing job being a cat dad!
21
u/DanteThonSimmons 14h ago
Haha thanks! I think he just saw a bird outside the window in the second photo. π³ He's always a pretty content little dude.

u/DanteThonSimmons 13h ago
Had to include his little pink beans haha! Also, username checks out, etc etc.

u/AReeSuperman90 Tabbycat 1h ago
His facial expression looks like heβs saying,
βIf I just stay calm & still, eventually, the human man slave will release me & my royal beans before his peasantry penetrates my luxurious royal coat.β ποΈποΈππββ¬β¬οΈ
24
u/vulpitude 14h ago
This is fantastic!
18
u/DanteThonSimmons 14h ago
Yeah it's cool to see how much he's grown. He's a little bit more round than I would like, but he's also a bit more fluffed up than usual, as it's the middle of winter here.
Obviously, our version of "winter" here in Australia is still shorts and singlet weather.
7
u/vulpitude 14h ago
Haha it's adorable that he still has his "winter coat" regardless of the weather. He is such a fluffy sweetheart!
23
u/umlcat 13h ago
No !!! Tough guys should not hang out with adorable cats. Wait, cats are natural born troublemakers, nevermnind ...
7
u/DanteThonSimmons 13h ago
Yeah he's an adorable little fluffball most of the time, but like all cats.... he's quite literally the perfect killing machine under the right circumstances.
Those circumstances being: if you are a bug or a small ball of crumpled paper. Luckily, I'm neither of those things, or I'd be living in a constant state of fear in my own home.
4
u/Appropriate_Pie3896 9h ago
The toughest people always seem to end up completely wrapped around a tiny troublemaker's paw. πΉπΎ

u/Leather-Celery-6372 14h ago
This is awesome!
14
u/DanteThonSimmons 13h ago
Little 'Frank n Beans' IS awesome! He still (legitimately) plays fetch. I throw him a crumpled ball of paper, and he chases it down, dribbles it like he's in the Cat β½οΈ World Cup, then brings it back to me in his mouth and drops it at my feet.
3
u/Leather-Celery-6372 13h ago
Aww I love that! One of my cats acts like a point guard too π π₯° Just she doesnβt return it to me still need to train her to do that lol.
4
u/DanteThonSimmons 13h ago
I was thinking his dribbling is more of a soccer/football dribble.... but I love basketball, so maybe I need to start thinking of his dribbling more like a basketball. He's got a lightning-quick killer crossover. Iverson/Kyrie/Steph level handles!
2
u/Think-Fall5011 5h ago
He taught you to play 'Throw'.
That's what my husband said, when I demonstrated our Roxy's prowess at fetch.
Both now late and much missed.
2
u/DanteThonSimmons 4h ago
Yeah that's much more accurate! To be fair though.... my friends tease me for being like a labrador, because if I see a ball of any size, it's physically impossible for me to resist picking it up and playing with it, throwing it, bouncing it, etc.
I've been throwing things for decades, and I can't see that slowing down any time soon. Anything that even remotely resembles a sport.... count me in!

Video evidence is heavily favored here in these kitty loving streets. ππ€¨π§πβ³β°

u/HopefulWoodpecker873 14h ago
when mine were growing, every time I looked at them I was like π stop getting bigger and π₯Ή this is the smallest they'll ever be
but now I look at them and I'm just happy I did a good job... we both did it!Β
7
u/DanteThonSimmons 13h ago
Yep, those are the exact same emotions and thought process I went through with Frankie. I also have a daughter since the last time I posted..... and those feelings are even stronger with her growing up. π₯²
I sometimes miss her being small and wish I could have more time when she was my squishy little baby burrito, but I'm so proud of what a wonderful little human she is now, and I love her more than ever!
9
u/Venylynn 14h ago
This is beautiful
9
u/DanteThonSimmons 14h ago
He's LUCKY he's beautiful! He definitely gets away with a lot, due to the pretty-privilege of being a handsome young fluffman.
8
u/Introvertedotter 13h ago
If he keeps growing at this rate, he may be our only hope against Godzilla.
5
u/DanteThonSimmons 13h ago
Agreed. He has been known to make quick work of any Mothras that flutter their way inside the house. I'm yet to test his survival rate against anyone who can breathe atomic fire though.... so I'll have to get back to you after next Tuesday.
7
u/tessaractIXI 14h ago
I've got a Frankie too. He's not doing so hot right now.Β

u/DanteThonSimmons 13h ago
Oh no! Poor Frankie! Wishing your Frankie well and sending all my good vibes from here in Australia.

idk what changed in the cats gaze between the second and last picture. I only can interpret this as "seniority" or something. They have that settled, calm look now.
3
u/DanteThonSimmons 9h ago
Haha he's not often very calm, unless I'm patting him or holding him like this. I think his crazy eyes in the second photo were because he spotted a bird out the window. π π

u/Round-Dragonfly6136 5h ago
Thanks for sharing you cat's journey. They really do frow too fast. I'm always asking my 5 yo if she remembers being so little when her purr was so loud. I don't know how people handle their actual human children growing up. Kittens are hard enough.
OMake sure to post this on r/mensmitteneithkittens
1
u/DanteThonSimmons 3h ago
I should have mentioned.... I got married a year after the first two photos, and my wife and I have an actual human child now too! π π
It can be difficult watching your pet grow up, but I swear it's almost torturous watching our daughter grow up! I sometimes wish I could spend more time with my little squishy baby girl.... but if that meant missing out on any time with the amazing girl she has become, it wouldn't be worth it!
I love her even more now, because I know her better and we've shared so many experiences together. I'm a lucky man to have such a beautiful wife and daughter.... and Mr Fluffypants Frank too of course! β€οΈβ€οΈ

u/needmangos_notcrabs 4h ago
I hope this doesnt sound weird but I love seeing men being so open with their love for animals/their pets π₯°π₯°
3
u/DanteThonSimmons 4h ago
Haha why would that be weird!? I love ALL animals and I genuinely believe people that are cruel, uncaring, or even indifferent toward animals are the ones you need to watch!
I'll always have a soft spot for cats in particular.... because they're weird as shit! π π
Tell me the name of a cat you've ever met that isn't weird.... and I'll just tell you that you don't know that cat well enough. They're ALL fuckin weirdos.... and I mean that in the best way possible.

Frankie is absolutely adorable and gorgeous. I wish him a long, happy, and healthy life. I hope I'm lucky enough to see another amazing transformation, even eight years from now.β€οΈ
2
u/AfraidAccident7049 14h ago
Yes - OP, I hope weβll see you both back here in 8 more years!
2
u/DanteThonSimmons 13h ago
I'll be 51 in 8 years, so I don't think anyone will wanna see my old mug on their screen!! π π
1
u/DanteThonSimmons 13h ago
Thank you, that's very sweet. I'm so lucky that he's been a picture of good health his whole life so far. If people want another update down the track, I'll be happy to post his progression again.
Mind you, I'll be 51 years old in 8 years, so I'll be less confident in my health than his haha! He might have to post himself if I develop arthritis between now and then.

Aww that's nice to hear! What country are you in where it's morning right now? It's 4pm here in Australia.

π π¬π§ the UK. Sending hugs and good vibes to you and Frankenstein today π«Άπ«Ά

Cool the UK was my guess. Thanks for the hugs and good vibes, champion. We'll take em!
5
u/LostGrrl72 11h ago
I didnβt read the post properly at first and thought how on earth did you age so much in such a short time. Eight years is a lot more than six weeks. π
Frankie is adorbs. I would love to have a cat that likes to be cradled like thatβ¦ one day. Also, Aussies represent. π π

u/Difficult_Ad8876 10h ago
He looks like a statue in the last picπ
2
u/DanteThonSimmons 10h ago
I think his eyes just glazed over, but he definitely looks funny!
Also.... you reminded me of a New Zealand related joke that very few people here will probably understand:
Q: What did one Maori statue say to the other Maori statue?
A: "Hey.... statue bro?"

It's easy enough to get a cat, but harder to keep them through life changes. Congrats on 8 years with this cutie! May you two continue to enjoy your time together for many more years to come!
1
u/DanteThonSimmons 3h ago
Thank you! I'd never ditch a pet, no matter what circumstances life threw at me. We don't ditch family members, and pets are members of the family.
3
u/Mountain-Chip4586 7h ago
Adorable!
2
u/DanteThonSimmons 6h ago
Yeah he's actually very handsome when he's not being held like a baby. π π I wonder how you get into being a cat model....? Maybe he could do a commercial for fancy cat food or something.
A sponsorship would be great, because he's fussy with food. He won't eat any human food whatsoever.
Chicken, tuna, white fish, duck, salmon, etc, etc..... "No thanks."
3
u/SadView1235 5h ago
Yeah well.....you two aged very well indeed.. π his face is priceless though πππ "one more picture...i can't stand you anymore, hooman...."
2
u/DanteThonSimmons 3h ago
One of us aged a lot better than the other! It's the one that eats from a bowl on the floor.
If I've fallen due to old age and I can't get up off the floor, that doesn't count!

u/CzechNeverEnd 10h ago
Thanks for the PS, that's exactly what I wondered xD. Frankie looks absolutely gorgeous. Real gentleman.
2
u/DanteThonSimmons 4h ago
He's a very distinguished gentleman. His full name is actually François Le Chat... but we only use that when meeting with members of various royal families.
2
u/MoonPieKitty 5h ago
I'm curious, what was it like to play Roy Kent?
Love the kitty, btw :)
1
u/DanteThonSimmons 3h ago
Somehow, I've never watched Ted Lasso.... and I've worked as a soccer/football coach!
2
2
u/MoonPieKitty 3h ago
Also... YOU MUST WATCH IT! I'm not kidding. It is the BEST TV show I've ever seen. And I'm old. It's funny as hell, has heart, will make you cry and cheer. Give it a watch.
1
u/DanteThonSimmons 2h ago
Sold! I'll check it out!
2
u/MoonPieKitty 2h ago
Yay! Being a soccer coach, I think you'll love it. Let me know what you think. :)

Imagine being 40 years old and people are still carrying you around.
1
u/DanteThonSimmons 2h ago
I don't need to imagine being 40 years old... that was a few years ago. Also, I would love to be carried around. It would make tennis training way funnier too!
2
u/alicevirgo 1h ago
The change of expressions from a wide eyed teenager to an apathetic adult is so familiar.

u/DontTreadOnMe83 3h ago
Me too bud, me too...
3
u/DanteThonSimmons 3h ago
Yeah nothing wrong with getting older mate. Happens to every one of us eventually. I realise I'm very lucky to have a full head of hair at 43 years old, so it can go as grey as it wants! π π Same with my beard!
