La meva dona és peruana i fa dos anys i mig que aprèn català. Puc assegurar que el parla força bé. És professora de castellà com a llengua estrangera i també parla anglès i francès, de manera que té molta facilitat per a les llengües i assimila molt de pressa les qüestions gramaticals.

Jo soc del Baix Ebre i vinc d’una família catalanoparlant. Per això a casa escolto ràdio en català i miro la televisió i sèries en català sempre que puc. Amb la meva dona parlem sobretot en castellà (així ens vam conèixer i així s’ha quedat) però sovint també conversem en català perquè pugui practicar i ha millorat molt. Quan baixem al meu poble també intenta parlar en català amb els meus pares i aprofita per practicar una mica.

El cas és que, fora de l’entorn familiar i de les classes, gairebé no té ocasions de fer servir el català perquè la majoria dels seus amics són castellanoparlants/immigrants.

Ella vol assolir el C1 de català en el futur però sobretot busca maneres o espais més “orgàniques” on poder practicar-lo i fer-lo servir amb regularitat.

In 2015 and 2016, I was listening to a Catalan band a lot and I can't remember their name. Since I can't find them by googling, it seems like they must have been pretty small.

They have a male singer with a higher voice. They would probably be labeled indie. One song I remember was very simple, just the singer reciting lyrics with an acoustic guitar. Another (the one that's stuck in my head today) has heavy synth and an upbeat, energetic melody. I can hum the main motif, but I have no idea what the words are, so it's hard to look up!

This album cover had a black background and colorful, abstract, jackson-pollack-like splatters. I'm 95% sure one of the songs I loved was called Los. They were probably active some time between 2008 and 2016, though may not be around anymore.

Do you have any ideas who this band could be?

Edit: Found them! The second song I was thinking of is Lós, and the band is La Iaia :)
