Sharing for those potentially interested in purchasing a Radio Flyer bike. The prices are very good right now.

We first noticed a comment about Radio Flyer exiting the ebike business in the Wirecutter cargo bike review article published on July 9th. The only other mention we found was in a post in a Radio Flyer group on FB.

There is no mention of this business change on the Radio Flyer ebikes website.

Since we have a lot of customers with Radio Flyer ebikes we reached out to try to get confirmation, which they promptly provided. "That is correct, Radio Flyer has made the difficult decision to wind down its eBike business to concentrate resources on our core categories. We did not achieve the sales needed to make eBikes a viable business, so we’re exiting the category.

It appears that they intend to support the bikes for several years. "While we’re exiting the eBike business, the Radio Flyer Company remains strong. Our customer support team is available for technical questions, parts lookups, service documentation, and warranty claims. Electronic components will be available through 2030 at minimum, and because our eBikes are built on widely available components, most service and maintenance can be handled with third-party parts.

We have generally pretty high opinions of Radio Flyer bikes, especially the latest models. They have always been a solid value with a good company behind them. It's great to see that they are not just pulling the rip cord and walking away, but intend to continue to support the products for a few more years.

Hey Cargo Bike community - My family's looking to replace one of our cars with a cargo bike for in-town errands and school drop offs for two toddlers. I'm torn between going new entry level (Aventon, RadWagon) or purchasing a used premium bike.

Right now there's a local seller looking to offload a 2020 Tern GSD S10 with a single battery. I know the newer models have the cargo line motor, better brakes, and some other minor improvements.

List price is $4500, which includes a cargo rack. Is that too steep for a bike that (I think) had an original MSRP of $3,999? I know these bikes retain a lot of value, but for that price I wonder if it's worth biting the bullet and paying $5800 for a Gen 3 P10.

EDIT: Bike has a little less than 1K miles on it. Presumably stored in a garage. Unclear maintenance history.

So, I had my new cargo bike stolen within 1 week in Copenhagen. I had 2 insurance approved locks - a ring lock at the rear wheel and a chain (10mm)

Luckily my insurance covered it, but I would like to make it more difficult for thieves next time.

Anyone have any experience with the U locks from Hiplock or litelock? They seem difficult to use properly with cargo bikes. Maybe lock one the front wheels on the box with it?

I have also been thinking of an alarm system like the Knog scout or ABUS Alambox.

Any suggestions or experiences that might help me?

We definitely want a front loader and the urban arrow has the ability to attach baby car seat inside the bucket. So we are thinking about getting one of those, any reason not to besides the price?

I’ve been spending some time riding a compact e-bike that’s designed for more than just commuting. It sits somewhere between a city e-bike and a mini cargo e-bike, with enough practicality for shopping trips, daily errands, and carrying small loads.

The extra weight has some clear advantages. It feels more stable, planted, and capable when riding with added weight. But you also notice it when pushing the bike around, navigating narrow spaces, lifting it over steps, or storing it at home.

It got me thinking: where do people draw the line with compact urban e-bikes?

Is around 30 kg still reasonable if the bike offers better stability, stronger components, and more carrying ability? Or does that start becoming too much for everyday city use?

Would you choose a heavier e-bike for more comfort and practicality, or do you think keeping the weight as low as possible matters more?

Update: After reading through other riders’ experiences and comparing different options, I realized a rear rack would make the bike more practical for everyday use. Carrying groceries, a small bag, or daily essentials should be much easier with the added storage space.

I was suggested a compatible rear rack for the Cyseekin C10 and decided to give it a try. I’ll be testing it out during regular rides and seeing how much of a difference it makes for commuting and daily errands.

I just finished my latest build, the Bombtrack Munroe Cargo (Size L) and I LOVE the bike. It's perfect for small to medium loads on a commute and still fits on the train. I just throw my backpack in the box and have no hassle and no big weight affecting my steering.

It's not super cheep, the frame alone cost me 900€ but still I'm surprised I have NEVER seen anyone ride this bike in the cargo bike loving city in Berlin. I even saw that the prices for the frame got reduced again at my dealer.

I know that the steering might feel a little bit fragile or wobbly on this bike. Also there are more elegant options like the Black snow EDC2 MK2. But still I am quite happy and would like to hear what other people think of this model..

I don't really need or want a long bike, I'm just looking for a bike with a good weight capacity on the rear rack to potentially take a passenger. Most of the mini bikes have pretty low weight capacity. Something like a Munroe Cargo Bombtrack would be ideal if I could also have a passenger at the back

I'm currently planning to build an Omnium Nano with a custom paint job. However, I'm unsure which groupset I should go with.

I contacted Omnium, but unfortunately they couldn't tell me which chainline the Nano frame is designed around. Because of that, I'm not sure whether a 1×12 drivetrain would cause any issues or lead to increased drivetrain wear.

Does anyone here know more about the intended chainline or have experience running a 1×12 setup on the Nano?

Choosing a non-traditional bicycle to spend my life on means having to solve a lot of carryshit problems in non-traditional ways. I’d been using an old soft shell cooler as my main front bag for over three years until the welded seams finally failed, leading me to hit up u/dyedinthewoolofficial to add a bit of their legendary work to my u/omnium. I sent over some measurements, simple diagrams, and a few vague ideas and MY GOODNESS the wizards over there made a bag that truly fits the style of my rig. We used Ultra X for the outer and orange ultra gridstop for the inner, pockets and MOLLE on the sides, removable inner baffles, bungee cords for quick chip bag storage, and added snaps for my favorite u/ride_finds BIKE sign up front! Working with DITW to make this custom bag was a great process and they pulled it off better than I ever could have expected. Thanks y’all for everything! I’m glad to have them on board for the next hundred thousand km.

Anyone have any luck in replacing discontinued suspension part? Looking for ideas

Just looking for general feedback on this radio flyer via pro. Haven’t gotten it via shipping yet but feel like it was a little overpriced for the specs.

I know that there are custom solid wood boxes available for the eBullitt but are there any thinner/lighter options for the eBullitt? It needs to be sturdy enough to carry a kiddo but I’d like something lighter than the solid wood. Something like the Transporter’s box - https://www.r-m.de/en-se/bikes/transporter2-65/

Any ideas? I actually saw something posted here of a custom CNC cutout made for an eBullitt but I’m not that talented nor do I have access to a CNC machine.

I have little formed opinions on front cargo vs rear, 2 vs 3 wheels, want to cast a broad net to hear your experiences with your setup if you haul 2 or more kiddos with your cargo bike! I’m in Seattle so shop recommendations also welcome.

I am looking to purchase a cargo bike by next summer so that I can take my son around biking with me. Biking is something my wife and I love doing in our city (Minneapolis) and we're excited to share this passion with our child. He'll be 1 next summer so I was thinking out best option is going to be going with a longtail and the Thule Yepp mounted on the rack. I am debating between the Aventon Abound LR and the Radwagon 5. I would love a yuba spicy curry or a tern but those are out of my budget for now. Does anyone have any experience biking with kids as young as 1 on a cargo bike and do you have any recommendations on which bike would be best?

My rack setup is an amalgamation of Yakima products from then last 20+ years. Currently I have the type of tower that is removable (except for the foot), which screws into the mounting holes on my roof channel with M6 screws. This roof rack has been with me since my 1996 Camry (when the towers were door-clips) through 3 other cars to my current ride. I often mount 2 bikes on the rack; a road bike and a touring bike. Weight limits for this rack are unknown, but I figure it's good for 100 lbs. in normal driving.

Here's my first question; each tower screws in with a single M6 bolt. Even using a metric-graded bolt, that seems like a lot, especially considering that there are 2 cap-nuts available at each mounting point. I suppose I could design a 2-into-1 adapter made with 4140 steel so that the load gets spread across 8 cap-nuts instead of 4, but I figure that there must be somebody who has already done this, or at least tried to, Does anybody offer such an adapter?

My second question is associated; next year I plan to move from NY to southern CA, and was planning on buying a cheap roof basket with a waterproof cover to carry some bulky stuff, as well as my 19 lb road bike and my 29 lb touring bike on their respective carriers. Yes, fuel economy will suffer (and I have the Sport model, with the WRX motor that needs 93 octane, too..). A 4-into-8 adapter like mentioned above would help spread the load, but am I asking too much of my roof rack? I plan to go interstate the entire trip.

I have been thinking for a very long time, I own a Gen 3 duke 250, and it's pillion seat can be easily detached, by any chance we could buy a new seat and customise it removing the padding and making a top rack in it (with the back rest of required) and side rack for the pannier bags, this is best customisation without warranty of changing look of bike for a solo or with no pillion rider. Is there any way to achieve this or this is just dumb thought🙃.

Just wondering if there is anything similar to the tern 8 cargo bike that is shorter wheelbase and non electric? Prefer non folding but open to options. Thanks :)
